Unfortunately....FFVIII and FFX-2 are the worst Final Fantasies in my opinion. FFVIII's storyline was so cheesy. I just dislike how Squall fell for Rinoa....it just seems abrupt....and the gameplay was awful! It's saving grace would probably be the GF's.
But anyway...Rinoa is too clingy and self-centered quite opposite from the selfless and reserved Tifa.

I have to agree with you Twin, those are my least favorite of the games. Horrible battle systems in both, horrid storylines, and stupid plots.

Mmhmm. FFVIII may be a love story....but I didn't exactly like how the relationship went, how it developed. FFVII may not be a romantic game, I still find the relationships to be more affectionate. Take Tifa and Cloud for example, especially in the Highwind scene when Tifa says "words aren't the only thing that tell others what you're thinking" (or something to that.....). My point is that FFVII goes for the deeper meaning in love, not the physically affectionate kind. Though I know that FFVIII's love story is 'deep', I find it choppy....cut and pasted together.

Yeah, and what's more FFVIII seemed to revolve around that same choppy love story for a good amount of the game. Like you said FFVII showed the deeper meaning of love, but didn't revolve around it.

Okay, what bothered me about VIII was that the love was RANDOM IMO. Squall is quiet, reserved, thinks no-one understands him. Rinoa is whiney, clingy, forces him to do things. Quistis lets Squall make his own choices, tries to make him open up, but doesn't push him AND leaves him alone when he wants it. SO It only makes sense that when the annoying, girly, prissy-p***k faints, the whole world stops for Squall as he realizes his undying love for her---
WAIT A MOMENT.

Anyways, on a Cloti note, my friend just made a very good point to me about the ending of VII and I just HAD to post it here. She told me how Cloti really does have the ending, and not Cleris.
First of all if you need to see the ending look here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QCr1VvielKk
Now, if you'll notice, Cloud is reaching for Aeris's hand at first, as her theme is playing. But soon, in a flash Tifa is seen as Aeris theme fades and Tifa's starts to play. When Cloud and Tifa are holding onto the ledge and talking about Aeris, Tifa's theme is still playing. Cleris argue that though Cloud and Tifa are together here, Cloud is talking about Aeris. However, when he says "I think I can meet her there," Tifa seems to hold onto Cloud a bit tighter and say "Yeah, let's go see her." As if they are going to see Aeris together, as in... TOGETHER, a pairing. My friend mentioned how this symbolizes that Tifa and Cloud are meant to be together on EARTH, and I agree wholeheartedly, of course. I never really noticed this in the ending before, so I thought I'd post! <33
And speaking of when Cloud says " I think I understand now, the call of the planet.. the promised land, I think I can meet her there". I do believe that this means Cloud can meet her in death. . . when it's time for him to do so.
Anyways, my friend mentioned that the ending held a far more romantic Cloti scene then Cleris, and I must say I agree.
Thoughts? x3

My thoughts: Your friend is a genius, and I just noticed that after you explained, only beating the game once I don't remember much, but yes, now I remember that scene, and I agree whole-heartedly.

"Yeah, let's go see her." I hadn't realized that! biggrin Now that you mention it.....the ending does seem to shift in Cloti's favor....I do believe that it symbolizes that they'd be together....that would also tie into Aeris letting her role in taking care of Cloud to Tifa in "The Maiden" and her reviving Cloud in Advent Children. Huh.....I didn't realize that! Ahh! whee
*beautiful pictures by the way. heart

Though Cleris can argue, that even thought Tifa said "Yeah let's go see her." Cloud didn't say yes. All he said was "I think I can meet her there" and therefor, wants to be alone when he sees her. It's defiantly something the Cleris would come up with.

LunarSchemer And speaking of when Cloud says " I think I understand now, the call of the planet.. the promised land, I think I can meet her there". I do believe that this means Cloud can meet her in death. . . when it's time for him to do so. That could be true. However, in my opinion, I think it means that both Cloud and Tifa can meet Aeris whenever they come into contacted with the life stream. Just like in AC. BTW nice pictures 3nodding
