"And I yours," returned the female with a small smile. "But no doubt your are the 'lost squire' I have heard so many prayers for..." She seemed a little far off for a moment, and then continued. "Now! I have found you, and the queen Miss Ciyari, and I finally meet those of whom I have just heard stories." She grinned slightly. "A little like an old tale that sounds, does it not?"

Kinyamkela stepped back a little, wondering why there was a small scrawny mouse at the queen's foot, but blinked and moved on. "But as I said, I come to honour that pledge, Ciyari."

She realizes suddenly that she's made a slight tactical error, and is anxious to atone for it. No royalty worth it's salt, that she's heard, at any rate, has had a poor memory. Therefore, her brow furrows delicately as she stares at Kinyamkela.

"Ahh," She says, and there's a wealth of meaning in the phrase. There's a brief tailflick. Maji is concerned about her! The news brings a faint hesitation, as if she weren't quite certain how to react to it. To her considerable knowledge, she's never had anyone concerned about her in her life, and the idea is a novel one. She forces her features into a smile, however, for the immediate moment. "Well met again, Kinyamkela. I'm afraid I don't know you well, but I believe Maji has good judgement." Some inner instinct tells her to leave off the 'high prince' title; she's consciously aware of Hodari standing next to her. Neither does she know how to react to the querry of her state of mind, so she merely ignores it.

"Would you like, officially, a place in the new pride? We still, I believe, need a Head Huntress," She adds, solemnly.

Kinyamkela looked somewhat surprised, and then laughed, a happy sound after her slightly hard-eyed expression before. "If by Huntress you mean Fisher, and only Huntress away from these lands, I gladly accept, Ciyari. And my thanks!" Head Huntress! That would not equal Kisulisuli's title if he became Steward, but surely it counted for something. And she had at last found a true pride to belong to, instead of the wandering exile. For a moment she suddenly thought of Maji, and how he had said that the queen had made him the high prince of the lands. Well, at least they were both in the same pride now... Another thought struck her.
"I hope it's all right that I call you Ciyari," she said belatedly, somehow managing not to look that apologetic. Titles were earned in respect in Kinyamkela's eyes; she was happy to accept it for now, and see what this Ciyari would show of as a queen, in hereslf as well as that fleeting double vision. The gods would play tricks with your mind sometimes.
"Am I to be your equal then in this pride, Hodari?" The snow-and-silver lioness continued aimably. "I am happy to be part of our ancestors the Mistweavers..." It had never occured to her that the queen had not called it Mistweaver as well.

-Hodari had listened quietly while the two talked. Head huntress? Ah. It seemed as if he might have a bit of company when he began gathering meals. He almost smiled, but the word fish caused that grin to die before it was completed. He was not good with fish. They always seemed to slip from his grasp. Her question finally rang in his ears and the grey and white male raised his eyebrows. Was she to be his equal? Once more Hodari entered a state of thinking. His jaw had dropped and he seemed about to say something. Quickly it shut, but just as quickly it reopened.-"We will see. After a hunt or two I will be able to know if I may consider you my equal."

Fish? Ugh...Ciyari doesn't mind fish, but they're so bland. She'd happily eat an antelope or two, however.

For the briefest of moments, she's highly affronted by the familiariy. But she's quick enough to realize the impression that would make. Smoothing her expression over, she smiles at the lighter female. "Of course," She agrees readily, then allows the twain to converse while she lapses into silence. No shock is betrayed when Kinyamkela continues with her next sentence, although inwardly, she's startled. Mistweavers? And, 'our ancestors'? Her mind thinks furiously. If Kinyamkela is related to whatever pride had originally been here, as well as Maji, that makes Kinyamkela a possible threat to her own position. Still, Ciyari's charade as the 'RiverStar Queen' has worked well enough thus far, and she has no reason to think that it'll disappear anytime soon.

A quick glance is given to Hodari as he speaks, and there's a flicker of something there - approval? Slyness? Whatever it was, it passes much too quickly to ba analyzed, and Ciyari rolls her shoulders back languidly.

"To be honest," said Kinyamkela talkatively, peering out across the jungle, "I wouldn't mind going on a proper hunt again - but away from the jungle. Maji does insist, but over the mountains we always used to hunt dikas and antelope. I miss the taste. Perhaps we shall go on a proper hunt, you and I, Squire Hodari." She bounded around for a few steps, a much younger mischievousness in her stance, unaware of the hidden and suddenly wary thoughts of the others; perhaps because she was such a forward lioness herself. She did have a vague feeling that she was supposed to act with more respect, however, and quieted her dancing steps with a more humble expression.

-Hodari's eyes were resting upon Kinyamkela as she moved about for a short time. The offer of going on a hunt seemed a good one.. But Hodari had just returned to the lands. He wished to stay just a while longer. He wished to look at the lush scenery and he wished to be by Ciyari's side for at least a little longer.

He turned his head away from both of the lionesses, ears flickering. Was it really required that they hunt away from these lands?- "Please... Just Hodari. I shall not require you call me by any title. As for a hunt.." -His paws and legs were aching somewhat. Would he be able to handle catching something decent?- "That sounds delightful." -His head was shifted so that he could look at both of the females.-

In all honesty, she's not quite sure if hunting falls into the realm of a Queen's duties. It seems quite below her, but they don't really have very many members at this point - and, besides, it might give her time to get to know Kinyamkela better. Knowledge is power, and Ciyari is quite ready and willing to use that power to her advantage. Another swift smile is over her features. Still, she wasn't really invited, either, which makes her think that excuses made will be readily accepted.

"Excellent! We'll all it well tonight, then, I'll wager. I'll go and tell Maji, and that new friend of his. We really ought to see if we can get a messenger of some sort," She adds thoughtfully. "A bird, or something of the like. It'll help improve communications...particularly if we have to go over the mountains again everytime we'd like to hunt."

Kinyamkela hesitated a second. "Uh, Maji might not be too thrilled at hunting with us... I spoke to a gazelle today, and it turns out he's known Maji longer than any of us." She grimaced slightly. "And I haven't seen Ramses since the day before yesterday." Her thoughts sprang to Maji brooding by his pool, and pondered whether it would be a good thing to say. But she hadn't hunted in so long..

"Perhaps we should make a habit of conversing more with birds," she said lightly, smiling at the 'queen'. "You're right, it would make things easier..." She remembered how she had found the pair here, looking tired and a little drained. Would they even want to hunt tonight? But they seemed well enough now, and they would have said otherwise. And she really needed to work out where these two stood. The young lioness padded around to face the jungle belong
"Shall we g - um, get ready?" She asked, changing what she was saying midsentence. From what she could see this Ciyari might be a bit upset if she started leading. But wait, why should she be the one to lead off a hunt if she claimed - Kinyamkela's mind hurt, and she stared at the ground, darkness hiding her face. She wasn't sure whether to be angry at herelf for changing her words or not.

-The very mention of Maji caused Hodari's hairs to stand up. He fought himself not to say he was pleased the other would not be joining them. It was a cruel thing to think about, but Hodari had developed a slight dislike for the other male and had little desire to be anywhere near him.- "I don't like birds..." -He said simply.- "But if we must converse using birds then I am all for it. We just need volunteers for the job."

-He stopped speaking and took a few steps towards the jungle. The male paused to glance back at Ciyari.- "Yes.. Shall we go and prepare for the hunt?"

"Ahh." That presents a complication. What a ridiculous thing, to be friends with a preybeast...but she supposes Maji has his reasons. She keeps the frown from her face and her tone, though, and nods. A brief, amused glance is given to Hodari. "That'll be an interesting task." As far as she knows, no bird has ever bothered to try to talk to her in her life. She tries not to giggle as she imagines a scene where Hodari attempts to hold a conversation with a sparrow...

Kinyamkela's words draw her back to reality. So she is supposed to come along. Pleased that she was able to figure that out without saying anything, she appears to consider a moment, then gravely nods. "Lead the way, then, Head Huntress Kinyamkela."

"We'll scout for birds later then." -Hodari had chimed, giving a crooked smile. It would prove to be an intresting task, certainly. He disliked birds and he was sure birds would possibly dislike him. Finding one willing to deliver messeges was going to be difficult.. Which was good. Hodari enjoyed difficult tasks. The male's focus was set upon Kinyamkela suddenly, awaiting her to lead the way.-

"Birds!" The gazelle laughed from where he had been standing, shaking his head as he stepped into view, "Birds indeed- the things have less of an attention span than a newly born faun." He looked between the three, giving a friendly nod and smile to Kinyamkela. He had followed her in this direction, having little better to do. Maji wasn't in much of a conversation mood and the other two were in for their afternoon nap.

"You got an opening, I'm lookin' for somethin' to do around here. Might keep me from being the uh... target of such a hunting party, eh?" He didn't seem all that bothered that they might be planning to jump him right then and there- afterall what he knew of lions was Maji and more recently Kinyamkela.

((Posting for Enki and Maji ))
Enki's shoulders roll like a cool grey fog slinking out across the feild where the distressed Maji has fled. He dosen't know whats going through the young princes mind...but he is determined to know.. After all it has been so very long since he was in the company of others his age...and beyond that...the company of another lion who could read and write. "Maji?....My Lord?"
he calls his green eyes as cool as a summer moon..

Maji's ear flipped back as Enki made his way to him. Straightening up and masking away his distressed look he turned towards his presumed cousin. He looked much like an older lion should- his large shoulders rolled back into his growing mane, his head lifted upright, and his paws crossed as casually as they could, drooping just a bit over the side of the rock's ledge that he had wondered to in order to further gaze at his own reflection- not in vanity, but in wonder. He had been told that he resembled his father so much... and to have been mistaken for him no less.

A soft smile came to his features as Enki spoke, and with a nod he answered softly, "I'm here, Enki... sorry to have run off like that." He relaxed a bit under a deep breath, "It was most impolite of me... I do hope you do not hold it against me, I am normally more in control of my emotions."
