Any comment on the Tau doctrine IG army? I emailed GW and they said you would be able to make up your own rules for adding Tau weapons into the army. It sounds promising. THey get carapace armor, HW and SW platoons, xeno fighters, close order drill, and I think one more thing I can't remember off the top of my head.

From what i gather so far, the IG seem like they would be my ideal army, both in style and gameplay.

But the IG deals mostly in #'s and concentrated firepower, not to mention the tanks.

Am i right?

Maybe I've heard it all before, but when are people going to just read the codex and become better prepared for starting that army?
Because:
A-I haven't gotten it yet. I am getting it for Christmas

Ok to make this list leagal you need to be using Grenadeers Doctrine to field your Storm Troopers as troops

HQ:
Ok depending on the point value of your army you may want to consider a Senior officer instead of a heroic senoir. and since you have the Chimera go ahead and buy for for their transport give it multilaser and hull hvy bolter

Troops:
Infantry Platoon:
Command Squad:
1st Squad:
2nd Squad: With all three of these i need your numbers and your upgrades

Grenadiers x2: Ok these guys
10X Storm Troopers squads. optimumly you want to field flamers plasma guns, or meltas as you speical weapons. And go ahead and spring the extra point for the veteran and a power sword, i found it was well worth it. Mount one in a chimera deep strike the other or inflitrate those are always fun

Heavy Support:
Leman Russ: Ok what armaments are we talking here, and what vehcile upgrades

Really in all what i need to know is

What point value your shooting for:
Do you have teh abiltity to purchase more models to fill gaps: like heavy weapons
A detailed list of what models you have:

and then we will work from there

Mat

Dangerous Soldier

8,500 Points
  • Brandisher 100
  • Treasure Hunter 100
  • Peoplewatcher 100

So, anything on the Tau doctrine of the IG?

Well until I see the rules there's not much to say.Seems a bit unfair.Gaurd already have hordes of troops and awesome tanks, now they(allegedly)get Tau weapons wich own.
Where are these rules?

Most likely some CA article or an age old Tau hunters army where small squads have Tau weapons.

The third one down is the Tau Gue'la Auxillary Army.

Not very Tau is it.It looks more like a Industrial worls that has access to better equipment. The Model is nice but it's an expensive army to make and yo can't have any Tau weapon.
If you wanted a Traitor Gaurd army that have defected to the Tau just use the normal Tau codex.Convert Cadians to have Tau armour.Simple but pricey.

That would be it exactly. Our troops aren't particularly tough, strong, well armed, or well trained.
We win through our large numbers, large amount of heavy weapons and our superior tanks.
They are the Russian of the 41st century. Just remember "Not one step back"

Change century into millennium and you are in the right direction.

Though one note, while the Imperial Guard can outshoot each army present (afterall, we dish out more fire then any other army), we are minced meat when in open ground. Take note, only the poor, fool hardy and those without imagination fight on an empty field with no cover. Pah! Fields of honour are for warhammer fantasy.

Only exception on the open field would be a big hissing mob of Tyranids that tries to get inside your armour to your squishy insides. That's about the only occassion where the Imperial Guard might prevail on open grounds. Though bunkers and other types of cover are much welcomed, making it harder for the big bad bugs to get the squishy things inside.

It's also a very versitile list.If you use the doctrines you can make real type armys, from the Mechanized "Blitz Kreig" to the US veitnam cammandos.Try the Famous regiments in the back of the book.I love the Mordians cool

those models would be awsome to use if they remade them other wise armys like that will remain for the older model versions and the people with godlike sculpting and modeling powers
