: ) I'm planning on purchasing a tenor sax piece this summer. Idk how the lakey would work on tenor, but I'm anxious to see how it feels.

Miyoko Clarinetti D= flaming_ninja_dragon! I thought you'd know that already O_O!!!! O.o i'm 13 and i know that...D= (no offense...i'm just surprised) I'm only 14, and I live in a town where I'm pretty much a heck of a lot better than everyone else. Some of the 6th graders going into 7th grade don't even know most of the notes and some can't get up into the upper register and they've been playing since 4th grade gonk crying . I could do that by christmas of 4th grade, although it wasn't perfected until 5th grade. Now that all being said, my BD is pretty much only concerned about some clarinet sound coming out in concert band, and sound-offs and looking pretty in marching band. And I don't have a private teacher either, because there's pretty much no one good in the area to teach me, and I don't really have the time during the school year. And what exactly did you think that I knew? The scales, the importance of the scales, the fact that I only know two concert scales, or that I didn't know that the highest note wasn't high G?

Congrats on the rovner. : ) Some people might flame you a bit. Rovners can make the tone a little "muddier." I like to think of it as just "thicker." I know one kid who uses a Rovner for his clarinet. He likes it. : ) I hope you like your new set up a lot.
Give it a couple weeks before you make any personal commitments with it first, though.

Flaming_Ninja_Dragon Ash Rail *long post* So please practice your scales. They will help you so much. *just remember to do them in as many keys as you can do. ...and all of that, miss, boils down to the question, "What is the meaning of life?" There are actually many theories as to the meaning of life, some of which...fixed. xd anyway, thanks for the advice. On another note ,my algebra teacher yelled at me a few weeks ago because I asked her what I would use algebra for in real life. I'll try to practice up on my scales. I can play pretty much every note on the clarinet that's written on my fingering chart that doesn't have all the notes. Although I only know the concert Bb and C scales, I'll try to learn more. That's good. It shouldn't take long for you to start seeing some of the benefits if you're diligent with your scales. Good work. : )

: ( Were you trying to put it on upside down? You can actually do that. I inverse my Rovers when I'm bored every now and then.
...I wouldn't be using them if I thought they were bad. But there are a lot of people against cloth ligatures.
These are generally the people who say stuff like: Metal mouthpieces are purely evil. Plastic reeds are purely evil. Any coating other than clear/gold lacquer or silver is purely evil.
Just because you don't do well or prefer whatever option I just listed, it doesn't mean that they won't work for someone else.
Let's just say that the people who feel that way are probably the kind of people who get dressed in the dark.

Let's just say that the people who feel that way are probably the kind of people who get dressed in the dark. well i think its correct now..iono...because when the screw faced right the top of the lig cocked up (o.O...) getting farther from the reed which would cause a brighter sound and for some reason it wouldn't do the opposite (cocked towards the reed) which would make a darker sound so i put it the other way making the screw face the left was that correct? O_o;;;;;;;;; ahh lol rofl ic

Basically, assuming you didn't take it apart and put it together funny, the screw should go on the top, with the completely flat and smooth part of the ligature cradling the reed.
The nubbin thing on the screw should be pointing right, if you were to look down at it while you were playing.
