(Hp=9-3=6)
Izumi was caught offguard by how fast Katare was. He knew it would be faster then him but Katare was much faster then expected. With that kind of speed Izumi knew normal tactics wouldn't work so he would have to try something a bit more clever. Like before Izumi ran towards Katare and aimed a punch at his chest but this time he pulled the punch back at the last second and spun swinging his other fist around towards the side of Katare's head.

(13-1=12 12<15 so no hit.)

Katare stood in place and watch Izumi as he readied a punch to the chest, but something seemed wrong... Katare decided to go with it and dodge the punch anyways, but the kid instead threw a shot at the side of the head. Katare had leaned into this actual punch in the process of dodging the fake one, but managed to duck under the punch as it was coming. "It was a good idea, but..." Katare threw a punch directly into Izumi's face, once again trying not to kill him by accident - "Sometimes good ideas aren't enough." Katare backed up quickly without caring if the punch had managed to connect, making a line 10 feet away and backing up another 10 feet. "New rule! Until you come within 10 feet of me, I won't punch you again..."

(Any bright ideas? There's more to combat than punching and retreating, you know.
Then again, it honestly dosen't make a difference to me whether you try to punch again. I was just giving you a chance to do whatever you wanted to in the interest of fighting me.)
(Oh, 2+0=2, 2<8, attack is a failure.)

Katare obviously put little effort into the punch as Izumi was able to sidestep with ease. Then Katare fell back and drew that line. Izumi found this somewhat confusing. He had the clear advantage in this fight so why would he do something like this? Was he toying with Izumi? Probably not. Izumi knew there was a way to use this line to his advantage but he lacked the proper tools. He had no weapons to throw and the only jutsu he knew was Henge no Jutsu which did him absolutely no good. "You're right Katare-sensei, good ideas aren't enough and now I'm all out of those too. Perhaps you understand and perhaps not but giving up is out of the question for me so I'll keep fighting." After those words Izumi made another dash to Katare, crossing the line and less then a foot away which was just close enough for Izumi to aim a kick at Katare's side.

(Sorry if I missed something painfully obvious but like I said in this post other then a direct attack theres not much I can do.)
(8-1=7<15 no hit.)

Katare listened to Izumi and waited for him to attempt a kick in the side, then Katare leaned back so that it missed... and made a controlled uppercut into Izumi's chin. He then shot back fifteen feet, made yet another line, and shot back fifteen more. Katare called to Izumi, "Really, do whatever you please now, I'll close my eyes for 30 seconds." Katare, on cue, shut his eyes and began attempting to use his other 4 senses...

(HP=6-4=2)

The uppercut connected with Izumi's chin and he stumbled back. He couldn't take much more of a beating but it wasn't in him to surrender. When Katare closed his eyes Izumi saw his chance and dashed towards him. However he knew Katare would be able to dodge without sight so at the last second he spun around so he was behind Katare and aimed a punch at his back

Katare listened for any signs of Izumi attacking, knowing that he would either do so or run away. He silenced himself to the point where he heard nothing more than the wind, blowing only slightly towards the canyon. Perhaps he should learn to use all of his senses evenly, maybe that would help him win against Roy... Hmm? Katare suddenly noticed the wind parting. Oh? I guess he chose to attack... Katare waited... the parting of the wind went behind him at the last moment. Katare jumped forward, and opened his eyes. "Sorry, time's up." Katare lodged a spinning kick into Izumi's left side, and jumped back a mere 5 feet.

(18+0>8, hit and damage.
Looks like this might be shorter than I intended...)

(HP=2-2=0 meaning that I just got knocked out. That was a short fight...)

As soon as Katare's kick landed Izumi knew he was at his limit and his vision started to go black. As he fell to the ground unconcious his last thoughts were of how disappointed in himself he was that this was the best he could do.

Katare figured that Izumi would go down soon, since he had been showing major signs of fatigue since the start of the fight. Katare grabbed a pillow out of his pack and lifted his student's head onto it... and waited. While he was waiting, he decided to train his hearing. He quickly noticed that since the fight, the wind had strengthened... except that it was now blowing to the west. Is the wind really all that I can hear in this state? At this rate, I'll never be able to use any of gramps' techniques... Katare concentrated on being silent and allowing no noise to escape his eardrums. He was silent as a dead mouse, but still nothing..

Wait, was that a raccoon? No, that was his student waking up; Katare focused back on he-who-is-now-conscious. "Hey, Izumi. You're a good fighter, and you really have potential as a ninja... but what I was really impressed by was your courage. I mean, you knew from the beginning that you were bound to lose, and even when you had a chance to run away, you chose to keep fighting. That's one of the best qualities of a ninja: determination. In some missions, you'll get into fights that you have no chance to win. Wat you need to do, is fight it through and see if you ever get an opportunity to win the fight. Without determination, ninjas would all be useless cowards..." Katare laughed a little.. "Although you probably won't have to worry about that anytime soon, since we're a peaceful country!" Katare smiled, and extended his arm, as if to ask, 'You wanna rest more, or should I help you up and continue your training?'

Izumi awoke on a comfortable pillow and sat up a bit confused. He felt rested but had no idea what had happened. Suddenly his fight with Katare came back to him and with the memories came the soreness of the blows he had taken. He looked over at Katare and listened to what he had to say. For the first time in awhile Izumi smiled, though only slightly. It felt good to hear that he would make a good ninja. Izumi lacked the ability to properly thank Katare so instead he took his hand, pulled himself to his feet and bowed. "Thank you Katare-sensei. Now....what are you going to teach me next?"

Katare gleamed at the relatively new concept of being called 'sensei'. "Hmm... you know what? I'm going to teach you one of my favorite academy jutsus!" Katare grabbed a blanket from his pack, wrapped it around himself entirely... and disappeared. "This jutsu is called Kakuremino no Jutsu, and it allows its user to disappear entirely from sight. Y'see, the trick is to apply just the right amount of chakra to a blanket, coat, or other object... And if you do it right, it'll only show the objects behind you." Katare slowly and silently made his way behind Izumi, dropped the jutsu, and tossed the blanket onto Izumi's head. "Here, you try. Just place your hand on the blanket, and try to distribute chakra evenly among it." Katare was confident that Izumi would get it down rather quickly...

(Okay, usual thing except I want you to just do the jutsu once and then talk to me. You need to roll a 15+, and the jutsu uses 1 Cp, whether it works or not. Understood?)

(Yup I got it! Cp=3-1=2)

Izumi nodded and took the blanket. This sounded easy enough but it might take a bit of practice to get the chakra manipulation down. He placed his handed on the blanket and let his chakra flow into it until he believed he had put the right amount in. Realizing that if himself with it as Katare had he would have no way of knowing if it had worked so he placed it over his hand instead.

(CP=2-1=1)

Izumi stared at the blanket on his hand for a few seconds hoping that perhaps it just took time to take effect but nothing happened. Well he couldn't exactly expect to get it on the first try. Using what he had learned from his first attempt Izumi placed his hand on the blanket again and carefully put his chakra into it.
