The only thought in Mengyao's mind at the current moment was something indistinguishable, something completely and utterly unidentifiable. The voices in his head, ever so present, seemed to dull, just a little, if only for this one moment.
She was returning the kiss - and that, at the moment, was all that matter. Mengyao's fingers pressed into Lifen's waist, feeling her sigh, her hands still on either side of his face. The words she spoke were against his lips, and Mengyao felt warmth spread across his face, his mouth curving upwards into a smile against hers.
"What can I say," he murmured, and reached down, easily lifting her up into his arms, and though he knew he was putting on a good show of being completely at ease, Mengyao was almost certain that his heartbeat was loud enough for Lifen to hear. Perhaps she might even feel the way his fingers trembled where they pressed against her legs, holding her steady.
"I like being difficult."
His lips found hers once more, this time with a lot less hesitancy than before, Mengyao's mind - and heart - racing with the implications of what he was doing - what they were both doing. Fear, pleasure, happiness, anxiety - everything roiled into one, mixing together until he could not distinguish one emotion from the next. He could not afford to break what he had with Lifen, but now that he had tasted something different, he could not seem to draw away either.
He did not know what he wanted or how to get it.

...Well, at least they could agree on something. She didn't take his words as boasting, she took them as a boil who was in a mixture of disbelief and awe at the ghoul he loved. Junko was quiet, simply watching the boil. He loved her and yet he so readily broke her heart with that stupid breakup. He loved her and yet he made Lizzy cry. Even Lizzy said once he could be very mean. He'd been mean to her, he'd been a huge jerk. It'd left a bad impression on Junko, one he had yet to remedy. He even admitted he didn't think he'd ever like her. "What confuses me...is why you don't like me. You're right, you deserve my dislike." She pouted. "But I can't recall ever doing anything to earn yours." It bothered her. Was it simply because she didn't like him? You know what helps when you find out someone dislikes you? You try to fix that. Idiot. Junko kept the negativity off her face as best as she could. At his proposal to go somewhere with him she blinked, looking genuinely thrown off by the question. Eh? Duke it out? She...wasn't really much into fighting. Junko didn't like to do it if she didn't have to. Her eyes turned away, looking thoughtful. "I...guess we can do something. I'd rather not fight, it's not my thing. But if you've got other ideas.." She shrugged, turning her gaze back to Mac again just as he spoke to Freya. Eh? What did Freya d--...she was still wearing her Murder Mystery get up. Junko giggled, shaking her head at the ghoul's behavior. ...And then she saw JD. Her eyes widened. "O..oh wow..." Special.

"Sometimes I can calm someone down, if they're physically near me...There are other side effects. But it can be useful. I helped someone sleep, once, when they had too many nightmares to get there on their own," she said, referring to Night; after Red died, Amarus had helped him get to sleep in the Commons of the Ghost dorm. Amarus would happily help absolutely anyone sleep if they needed it; it was nice being of use. Especially if it was Mot.
Amarus regarded Lizzy carefully, while she 'ranted.' "Final year, that's impressive-- I think I hardly survived my first year," Amarus finally replied. She didn't really know what else to say; most of her friends she hadn't seen in a long time, now. But she had made a lot of new friends so far, so maybe it would work out after all.
At least the awkwardness of Amarus mentioning Lizzy's chest was over, and Lizzy had even started to sparkle again-- it made Amarus feel less strange, given she was stuck with her ghost-glow. The sparkle was kind of mesmerizing. Terrifying, but mesmerizing. "I didn't even know I could enjoy something so much... I normally only do something to be the best at it. I don't mind being less than the best at dancing, because it's so fun. It feels like a gift I need to repay."
Amarus stared at the stranger as he approached, and referred to her as this lady. She held up one white-gloved hand in protest, and said, "Excuse me, I believe the proper term for me is 'trap,' according to Mac. So you mean to say, 'this trap'?" Amarus looked to Lizzy for support. That was what Mac had called her, right?

Junko squeaked as Freya suddenly attached herself to her. "A-are you okay, Freya? Um...got any leads so far?" A pause. Junko suddenly looked very serious. "You should interrogate him. See if he knows anything. It's awfully suspicious him arriving so late, hmmm?"

Freya glared at Junko suspiciously. "Why is everybody tryings teh gets me teh go talks teh Johnny Danger!?" She suddenly screeched out in a cracked, high pitched voice. "I'm beings a good ghoul! A GOOD GHOUL!"
She let Junko go, and started to wander away, her arms flailing madly around her.
"A GOOD GHOUL!"

"You might be able to help Mot then!" Lizzy grinned, pleased with this news, "He has trouble sleeping at night." She hoped it wasn't a secret; his eye bags were sort of a tell-tale sign of his insomnia anyway, and he also had that love of coffee... Which doesn't help when it's time for bed. Hel managed to make him kick the habit, but she wasn't sure if the cowboil still drank it once in a while.
"Time really flies though," She giggled, "Before long, you'll be in your final year too, I'm sure!" That's how it felt like for her.
"It's good to strive to be the best at things, but there's nothing wrong with doing something before you enjoy it!" At least, that was the way she saw things, especially since she had various pastimes, some of which she wasn't very good at. When someone approached them, she stopped her dancing, tilting her head at the boil, trying to figure out why he seemed so familiar.
"... Tseng?" She had to stare at the newcomer for a while, but those wild gestures, that dramatic way he was talking... It was definitely that horseman of Conquest that she ran into once, "O-oh, it's not a curse..." Immediately, her sparkles faded as she pouted, "And... You don't have a curse either! That's glitter. It's just really, really difficult to get off completely."
Turning to Amarus, she blinked in confusion; it was that 'trap' thing again. It was a term she did not understand, "Uh, I'm not sure... Mac could have just been teasing." She would have to find out the definition of 'trap' from his perspective one day; she doubted that it meant what she thought it meant.

Just like magic, Lizzy had stopped sparkling. Tseng's eyes widened at her mastery at ceasing it. He was about to go on about begging her to make it stop but she soon pointed out that his affliction was not something easily removed. "Ack! I am not doomed with this affliction forever am I?!" he gasped. It simply would not do! As he said this, he was waving his glittered hand in the air, still trying to shake off what was there. It really wasn't helping him all that much unfortunately. The movements slowed down once the other girl responded, saying something of being a trap rather than a lady. "A trap!" he cried out while jumping back and bringing his arms up defensively. "Will you blow up on us? Or perhaps spray out thousand of poison needles! Or even suck us into a gravity well!?" he exclaimed, using his arms to mime out each of these possible situations.

The spin took him by surprise, and that was rather unsettling really. Thankfully the song soon ended, and as Alexander began to pull away so did Yin, backing up a small step. Alexander doffed his hat and gave a very overstated bow, and unsure of what he should do Yin gave him a somewhat more traditional bow in return. "It was my pleasure," he carefully intoned. And really? It was. It had not been nearly as bad as expected. They were moving off of the dance floor now, which Yin was perfectly fine with, and he was already being steered toward the drinks by his rather thoughtful boilfriend. He nodded and waited until he had a drink in hand and was standing next to Alexander to really talk to him. "Is this all that occurs at a prom? Food and dancing? Does anything happen after this?" As he spoke he glanced around, wondering if there was anyone that he recognized in their mask. Really though, he was a blank slate, and now that the dancing was over with (for now at least) he was a bit more willing to try something new.

"Ren!" LW attempted to swat at the fleeing figure of her boilfriend, laughing and darting off after him. Of course she didn't just barrel into the other students. No the she-wolf moved fluidly and danced through them, twisting and twirling while slinking between bodies.
"Fine! I'll just text love notes to Tybalt from your skellyphone." She called out, squeezing between two bodies with an apologetic smile.
She caught sight of a freckled tail and reached out to snag it.
"Oh and I'll be sure to tell him just how much you love him, and not me, and that you demand he come here right now to be your date~" LW teased, releasing his tail to side step him and twirl with the music. Her violet gaze flashed his way full of mischief and a warm look that was always there when she looked at Ren.
LW gave a dramatic sigh. "I guess I will just have to dance by myself..." kuromeez kjl;amnf;da I'm so sorry bby I know I fail at tagging you ;;

Once near the refreshment table, Alex had very considerately poured a drink for Yin, though he eyed it a little suspiciously before handing it over to him. "If it tastes a little...off...you might want to stop drinking it." Really, it wasn't unheard of that somebody at some point, especially with all of the chaos going on, may have spiked the punch by now. Still, though, Alex's throat was still feeling a little ragged, so he poured himself a cup as well, taking a small sip and scrunching up his face at the taste. It was nice and cool, however, and did feel nice on his sore throat, so he took another, much larger, gulp. Standing next to Yin as he was, he had the sudden urge to reach over and wrap an arm around the other boil to hold him close. So instead, he immediately shoved that hand into a pocket to try and deter himself from doing so, knowing that the action probably would not have been received very well if he had gone through with it. "Well, there is the prom court voting going on, so at some point I suppose they will announce the winners. But yes, for the most part, I think this is what a prom usually is. There might be some games..uh..I really don't know." Of course, this being Alex's first prom, he could only really compare it to those he'd seen on skeevee or read about in books. "There's a photo booth set up somewhere around here, I believe. If you want to try and get a photo taken again...I think that's fairly traditional for prom." And after this? Alex could only really speculate as to what Yin meant, and his mind wandered towards things it probably shouldn't have. Damn his boilfriend for looking so good in a tie! He'd never had these kinds of problems before now. "We could also try and do some socializing, if you're feeling up for it. Also if there's anybody else you feel you'd like to dance with, I don't mind." He kind of doubted Yin was going to run off and do just that, but he thought he'd put it out there as an option, anyways, in case he felt obligated to stay glued to Alex's side all night just because the zomboil had invited him.

"Whooopsie daisy," Danny said as the boil fell. She slung her arms under his, offering supporting so he'd stay standing and not leaning over and gripping the table like that. She had tough skin, she could take it!
As Taima grabbed the boil's cup, Danny said, "We can take you to Cricket if that'll help ..." That was the answer. GO STRAIGHT FOR THE TEACHERS.
"Huh? Oh no, most of them aren't like this," Danny said in response to Taima. "Last time we had a dance, I got punched though!" She marveled in the memory.

Amarus would honestly rather sleep less. It was a problem. It wasn't even like she enjoyed sleep, or really needed that much, it was just inevitable. "I'll trade with him. He can have my narcolepsy for a while," she said, shaking her head so that her bells rang again. Amarus had, so far, understood pretty much everything Lizzy said-- well, okay, not understood it but could at least kind of grasp where she was coming from. Until the thing about striving to be the best, but it equally being okay to do something out of enjoyment.
"The only reason I enjoy something is if I can learn to be the most powerful, the fastest, the most efficient..." Amarus counted the different 'important' features off on her fingers, then stopped to say: "Strength is crucial." Too bad it could make her unyielding, something she had not quite struggled with yet. Without a particular reason to change, no motivation to actually shift her perception, she'd likely continue on believing that.
After a brief pause, she bobbed her head to the side like she had earlier, shuffling sideways, smiling faintly."Dancing is the only exception, now," she said. But she certainly wasn't about to dance in front of the stranger who'd just approached them.
Apparently not a stranger to Lizzy at all, though! "You could try to scrub it off in the bathroom, perhaps? Or douse yourself with punch," Amarus chimed in helpfully. "Oh, and keep it away from me," she tacked on, her expression blank. It was hard to tell if she was kidding or not when her voice and expression were suddenly devoid of inflection or expression.
Too bad neither of them would understand trap, then, because Mar definitely didn't know what it was. She didn't even know what a Calder was until Lizzy explained. "You... are very expressive," Amarus told him, as though he didn't know. "Tseng, right? I don't have needles, or gravity, but..."
and her face was still completely blank as she leaned in to say: "I do give off a completely odourless, colourless smoke... you're breathing it in. Right now." What she didn't explain was that it was really just her Lotus smoke, the calming scent that made others relax more easily around her.

There was a little glint of appreciation in Thackery's eyes at the sight of the boil in the dress. It wasn't quite as horrendously perfectly flashy as some that he'd worn himself, which would have been a good thing to anyone with any sense, but he liked it nonetheless. He offered a polite little bow to Tomoko, falling just short of a 'thank you for the dance, m'lady', and stepped aside for her to oblige the request if she chose to. A hasty side-note came in a stage-whisper to the Cat: "Psst! Be careful to not make her dizzy!" Of course, he hadn't quite considered what he would do in the meantime, resulting in some awkward, watchful waiting nearby. He seemed to be attempting to pass the time by examining all of the aforementioned 'pretty colors', glancing back to The Kitsune, and diverting his attention to the lights and the moving masks of the other students...over and over again.
