Maybe he was just doing this for himself.
There was something.... honorable in the action in his opinion. All of those graves he borrowed from... he didn't consider it desecration. It was part of the process. The circle of life. You died, the scavengers came and recycled you. You lived on in their actions, and so it continued.
To the Igor, taking a piece was the highest honor.

For once, Cymbeline was not laughing. The insanity that flickered in her eyes was still there, but it was soft and mellow, like tealights flickering on the surface of a murky pond. How had things played out like this? The heir had truly believed that werewolf, with her harsh words and vicious idea of teaching, would triumphantly best all odds and return full of sharp retorts and harsh glares.
With a somber clicking of heels on the battlefield, Cymbeline walked over to the giant skull. Stared at it. They had been at odds for a time, herself and the owner of that skull. But Red had fought the good fight, Insanity and all.
"Howl forever through our memories," She said, for once her crazy words making a sort of sense. She kissed the tips of her fingers and placed them against the giant skull even as students struggled to break it apart. She would wield no rocks against this one.

His eyes clenched shut, his brain a swarm of conflicting, confused, emotionally exhausted thoughts. Christof swung a fresh punch to the skull, a tooth finally popping free and clattering to his feet without turning to ash.
Numbly, he reached down to pick it up, examining it intently.
It was almost a Wolf's tooth, but too large... almost a dragon's tooth but too... wolf like.
It was... a curiosity.
Glancing to the others, he numbly shuffled back to let the other students pay their respects however they felt the need. He had what he needed, clenching it in his fist as he backed his way towards Barth, his head bowed.

One last time she thought, her fist raised up before colliding with the skull again. One more piece, just one more piece...
Crack
The piece of skull fell free, about as big as Sammy's fist she knelt down beside the chunk, scooping it up carefully between her fingers less it turn to ash like everything else seemed to around the skeleton. Slowly she turned looking at Shehk, Amrita, and Remi.
"We can either start walking, or we can just... wait I guess... someone must know where here after all... one of the other teachers..."

While Sammy had been breaking off a piece of the skull, Shehk had been doing..something... with the ashes. Time would only tell what it was she'd been up to, though a glance over her shoulder showed she had used her finger to write out 'Here lies Red - Howl with us all'. Her palm was ashy, but she sort of hoped the message would stay there. Still, it was possible she'd done more than just that and wouldn't say.
She rose up again when Sammy spoke, looking to the undead ghoul.
"Can we climb these rocks? If we can get up somewhere high, maybe we can find an exit. I'm not just going to sit here and wait for the adults to save us while we do nothing." she said, rubbing the ashy palm down her face to leave a sooty black-and-bloody handprint on her face before moving to the closest rock-surface to attempt scaling it.

One act in particular following another piece of Red's skeleton breaking off did bring a swelling back to the half beast. That pride again, yet still oh-so guilty pride if such a thing could even exist, returned in his heart. Bul looked away from Demi now as he watched Tybalt leave his pin behind.
"...."
Bul opened his mouth to say something but no words came out. He simply walked over to the black dog and stood beside him sighing but remaining silent. The gesture was so eloquent that he simply admired it in all its simplicity. If only the students that vanished could be around to do the same. If only...
Mei and Seiji... and Bea and Willow..
He'd made a promise to Mei that he wouldn't let anything like this happen but how could he keep it when it was so out of his hands that he himself was considerably one of the most useless things ever provided by Halloween Town to his school.

Remi couldn't help but give a small yelp as she grabbed him and pulled him closer. He had to grab her shoulder a little tighter just to prevent himself from losing balance, that would have been awkward. Instead, he rested his chin on top of Amrita's head. "Like Red said... Halloween never dies. They can poke at it and try their hardest... but it always returns. Im sure she would not want us to mourn." Flicking his gaze up towards Sammy, he gave her a look....and sighed. Turning his gaze away, he did not really address anyone. "Dont you know that the first rule of being lost is it's best NOT to move? I assure you..." He looked around at the mass of students that were inside the general area. "The professors know something went wrong." I mean s**t, 80+ students missing? Heelllooo... the school must be damn quiet about right now. "Scouting the area is not a bad idea though." His dual toned eyes flicked to Shehk this time. " But i think moving too far away in mass is not a good way to be found"

When Savior asked him who he was, West's expression shifted from anger to wariness. Seriously? Hadn't they taken care of all of that? He pressed his fingers to his forearm, expecting to feel the sting of the cut the Marrowstripe had put there, but he felt nothing. In the back of his mind, a germ of worry began to fester, one that he would not have the time to ponder until he was safe at home. Right now, there were more bright flames and ice barriers and scythes and gym teacher statues to worry about.
When their protective barrier fizzled and faded, the boil made his way over to what was left of Red. Other students were crying and reverently picking pieces off of the former werewolf, but West was not so gentle. He raised his fist and brought it back down on her hollow skull. A thin crack was left in his wake, and he when he saw it he felt a measure of his frustration over being sent to that void wash away.

They were moving once more. And after awhile, Shun noticed that Mitsu had lowered herself to the ground. What was going on? Furrowing his brow, he carefully crawled off her back, trying to focus his senses to see if there was anything around to help tell him what was going on. There was a large shadow nearby, with several smaller moving ones gathering around it. Staring at it for a little while, he slowly took a few steps towards it. He was a little unsteady as he moved, but he managed to walk over where he reached out to touch the large mass. The texture was smooth but it didn't quite feel like a stone. In fact, it was reminiscent of bone. A slight chill ran down his spine. If this was indeed some sort of bone, there was only one thing in the area before that was big enough for this to come from. It seemed that in the end, Red was indeed gone, most likely at the hands of the hunters. He never knew her really, but from what he had seen before his vision faded, she had put up one hell of a fight. And from what he could tell, she had or was trying to fight for their sake. Death was never really an ending. Red, herself, may be gone, but Shun had the feeling these events would give rise to something new. Her legacy perhaps? Or maybe something else. Closing his eyes for the moment, he soon pulled his hand away from the skull before stepping back. "Rest in peace..." he uttered quietly.

Natalia approached Tybalt just as Bul had, lips parted as if to say something, the hand holding Red pressed against her bosom. She had turned just in time to catch the canine's actions, sharply sucking in a breath to hold back tears. His remark, if it had been any louder, would have surely made the ghoul break down.
She reached out to brush against Bul's shoulder, offering him a knowing smile before sending it toward the canine's own hand. They were all that was left now, although hope still thrived beneath the sorrow--hope that their friends and loved ones were safe somewhere. Staring at the pendant he left behind with wide-eyed appreciation, Natalia nodded her head to thoughts unsaid, shuddering some as ashes continued to settle against the colorless ground. It was the right thing to do...to take something from the werewolf and to leave something in remembrance of her being there. Of all of their presences on the battle field.
Her hand aimed to tighten around Tybalts, acknowledging his gift given to the fallen.

Quite unaware of the measures Remi had to take to keep from falling on her, Amrita kept doing what she was doing; just clinging to him, trying to not sob uncontrollably. If there was one thing that was worse than Heights and Fire combined, it was disappointment. She hated being a disappointment, and that was all she could feel. It was...not fun. But having Remi there? It was reassuring, in a strange way. She barely acknowledged Sammy's words to her, but rest assured she was listening. It hadn't been until Remi argued the topic did she look up from his shoulder, careful to not hit his jaw when she lifted her head. Perhaps...there was something to it? They were in a canyon, after all! The battle had been too distracting and prior to that it had been too dark to see, but now Amrita could see that there was very likely a top to this place. "If...if anything...it could give us a vantage point to see...?" She murmured weakly, still not quite ready to get up or even fully let go of Remi. Then, quietly, her attention moved towards Tybalt and the group of students that were starting to gather; from where she was sitting, she could see the tiny reflection of a pin. ...Oh wow, that was a beautiful gesture, she thought as the tears returned. "Umm..." She started, trying to get Tybalt's attention without doing too much moving. "W-would you mind if I..." She gestured towards the pin he had left, but in keeping with her don't-move-lots, it was a small one. "...Maybe...?" She wanted to honour Red with a gesture that actually meant something, and that? That was a perfect one.

Fourth punch. More ash. What had started out feeling pretty satisfying was slowly becoming a little depressing. No amount of fury unleashed on her remains could make him forget how he had felt in that place, or even explain why she had sent him there. Red had not been herself.
West kicked at her ashes anyway.

He had planned to stop. He was going to turn and join his shell-shocked classmates in their attempts to climb out of the canyon, but something made him turn back. West struck again, and he smiled at the jolt of pain that shot through his fist.
