"Resting and recuperating, maybe do some reading," Ruque shrugged. "There's not a whole lot else that I can do. I can't write, I'm left-handed ... and we'll see how my hand is later on. That's the hand I was using to hold the vial when it blew up, after all."
"You're going to be quite bored before you get better," Aras murmured sympathetically.
"Trust me, I already am," Ruque chuckled. "I'm going to be very lazy by that time, too. Right now I'm spending quite a bit of my time sleeping."

Well considering it all, Lin wasn't surprised he was spending a lot of his time sleeping.
"Well, your mother mentioned she would like you to know a bit of magic to at least put out any possible future fires and I suggested Miyu. So.. maybe at least for a small while you won't be completely bored? You don't need both hands to at least begin the study in magic."
Since the starting out was a lot of meditation, it was amazing she ever sat still for that.

Ruque nodded slowly. "That sounds like a plan," he mused. "Even if I suck completely, at least it will be something to keep me occupied."
He lifted his injured hand slightly. "Do you think she could come here? I'd rather not go out in the sun. I'm burned enough as it is."

"I'm sure she wouldn't mind," Lin assured him.
Though she somehow would imagine Miyu fussing over him once she saw.
"And I'm sure you won't suck."

Ruque chuckled at Lin's final comment. "Never know til I try," he grinned. He winced. "Ah ..."
Note to self, he thought, no sudden movements, and be careful laughing.
"Still, better to be pessimistic and overjoyed when you succeed than to be optimistic and be disappointed when you don't," he went on.

"I suppose," Lin nodded.
Though she also knew magic was a lot of mind over matter, if one didn't believe it became very difficult to do. Especially if you weren't born with a gift.
"At any rate give it a try and Mom will be around too... though with the twins I don't think she can do much except give advice."
And no doubt since Miyu had never taught before she would be giving a lot of advice.

"Sounds like fun," Ruque grinned, careful not to grin too widely, especially on his left side. "I have to say I'm looking forward to it. Maybe not today yet, I'm still pretty tired ... but if she could come tomorrow, if it's not too much trouble ..."

"I'll ask her once we get back," Lin told him, "But I'm sure she'll be fine with it."
At least Lin was pretty sure anyhow...

"Thanks," Ruque smiled; and he leaned back tiredly against the back of the couch.
Earendil smiled at Celebor. "So how have you been since the last time I saw you?" he asked. "It's been ... a very long time. Half a century, I'm sure by now."
Celebor chuckled. "I've been well. We had trouble in the Seconds world where we were living, so we moved here and haven't had trouble since."
"Always good," Earendil quipped. "I'm glad of it."

All too soon it seemed that they had to move on if they wanted to visit Adanedhel and Aliya in the same day. Lin decided to try and visit Adanedhel first since she supposed there would be a lot of catching up to do.
Honesty she didn't visit Adan at all on her last visit and it had been so long now.

Earendil was loth to leave so early, but Lin was right: if they were going to get their visiting in, they had to get going. And he would be able to talk to Celebor another time, after all they were going to be there for a while.
Once they left Celebor's house, they headed off towards the river. Adanedhel and Rose lived down the river a bit, and it was a beautiful day, and Earendil was rather enjoying the walk.
"I like how it's hot, but not oppressively so," he murmured with a soft smile. "Back home, it can get to be too hot to stand sometimes."

Lin smiled at this, the weather in the Borderlands was closest to home, so she was quite comfortable here.
"I have to agree, but I always chalked it up to not being used to the climate there, we're lucky though it's end of summer right before the other seasons so really this is a good time to visit. Winter's okay if you don't mind being stuck indoors for long periods of time."

"Indoors?" Earendil questioned, looking down at Lin. "Why would they be stuck indoors for long periods of time? I know that it's possible that they would get lots of snow here, but ..."
That much? Every winter? Somehow he doubted it.
"Have you been here for an entire winter before?" he asked curiously.

"Yea, I did once after I grew my wings," Lin paused for a moment and then added, "And well... in all the times I've been here or heard of other people being here during the winter it's been bad. Though with the time difference it's hard to tell, but winter here it had get a lot of snow."
Though when she thought about it that winter wasn't so bad, but there were other winters where there had been a great deal of snow and she had heard of them, or been around for a very small portion of them.

"So in your experience yes, but in knowledge, perhaps not?" Earendil grinned. "But I guess we'll see, won't we? What do you think of staying for the winter? I know Haldia is looking forward to it, and it really wouldn't be fair of us to skip out on her or take her away before she can see it."
