"Quite a few," Amdir nodded, reaching out and opening the door for Ryu. "I guess it's sad that so many of them had to go through something like that ... but on the other hand ... they're lucky so many of them could be rescued. Who knows how many more of them there are that your father couldn't rescue?"
There were probably dozens of children still slaving away in the northern minds.
Celeborn nodded at Donovan and started after Amdir, Feng and Ryu immediately, but Elros stayed with Donovan.
"If I might make a suggestion," he said, his face and tone expressionless, though his icy gaze was fixed on Donovan's face, "you may wish to take Celeborn with you next time. He is excellent with children ... and though Halmir is ... admittedly a better fighter than he, I'm afraid that his appearance would end up more a hindrance than a help ... which you've probably noticed already."

Haradhel, meanwhile, had already begun ushering the children into the dining room with Aliya, where she was trying to see who needed the most medical attention. Elrohir had gone upstairs to fetch Cindy, but it would probably be a minute or two before they got down.
"Older ones here," she told Aliya, indicating the other side of the room, "younger ones here ... no ... the ones that are physically okay over there, those that need medical attention here ..."

That was true, Feng nodded at that comment, "True, but these ones are here."
Ryu was already through the door setting one of the children aside to be looked after medicially. Carefully setting down the one child he had in his arms making sure that the young one was comfortable before checking on the other children.
Cindy was indeed heading down the stairs with Elrohir, the standard med kit (which meant nearly everything coming from the inn) with her as she walked down. She clutched the bag close to her, in some ways this was normal seeing as the inn use to have a lot of injuried people coming in when she was little. On the other hand, she was quite nervous.

There was no way Donovan was going to deny otherwise, he was more worried about scaring this bunch more than usual.
"Yea," Donovan murmured, "Between me and Halmir..."
At times he didn't know which they were frightened of more, seeing as he was human and Halmir was unfortunately marked by whatever battles he had been previously.

Amdir followed Ryu inside towards the dining room, where he was surprised by the silence. Despite there being a dozen children in there now, the only ones who were speaking were Haradhel and Aliya.
"Over here, guys," Aliya told the three of them as they came in. "If they're relatively all right, send them over to Haradhel, those who need immediate attention keep here with me until Cindy comes - Elrohir went to get her, they should be here any time."
The children were gathering themselves into groups instinctively, standing close to those they knew best or felt the most comfortable with, and all of them (at least those who were alert, since many of them were still sleepy) were looking around timidly at the sudden rush of adults that were around them.
Elros stared silently, motionlessly at Donovan for a moment, and then his eyes seemed to soften slightly, and he reached out and put a hand comfortingly on the man's shoulder.
"Do not worry," he murmured softly. "The children did not fear Feng and Ryu when they came to get them. If they feared you simply for being human, they would be afraid of them as well. I believe that you taught them that not all humans are to be feared ... even if you said nothing."

Haradhel was kneeling in the middle of the group of uninjured children, comforting them, soothing them, attempting to learn their names and ages. She was startled by their silence, and she was terrified that at any moment, some of them would burst into tears or something.

"Oh..." Feng murmured, "Okay," she smiled brightly.
The child she had was uninjured so she took hers towards the group where Haradhel was.
"Come on, let's go visit Haradhel," she told the child trying to keep happy.
Well it wasn't hard for her to keep happy it was Feng.
Cindy finally reached the bottom of the stairs and stared at all the children as she approached, there were so many. Okay to be fair a dozen wasn't that many, it was nearly the same about of siblings she had, but still it was a lot.
"Sorry for taking so long."

Donovan nodded and let it be, though he did tell himself he was going to pay more attention to what Kara did. He had taken advantage for far too long that the children of the Winters family were far more mature than normal children.
Winters simply saw things differently, there were very few 'children' to really speak of.
"Daddy," Lin looked up at her father, "Let's go in? What to see what Saki is up to. She grew while you were gone and became a kitten, and... Cindy might need help. She has all the stuffs for make people feel better."

"Over here," Aliya called, beckoning to Cindy as she worked with Amdir to help the kids keep calm. "These are the children that need medical aid."
Amdir sat on the floor and cuddled a little girl in his arms like an infant. She looked like she had a pretty nasty cut on her arm that had begun to heal, but it also looked as if it might be infected.
The girl with Feng looked up at her anxiously, her eyes reflecting uncertainty, and she looked forward at Haradhel then back up at Feng. She spoke softly in elvish, her tone filled with fear.
Elros's gaze moved to Lin, and the corners of his mouth turned up in a slight smile. "Then I am no longer needed," he said softly, nodding his head. "I shall see you again later."
And he headed off towards the barracks again.

Haradhel smiled at Feng and the girl she was bringing over and held her hand out kindly. "It's all right," she said softly, "we're going to take care of you, you're all right."
She moved to rise to her feet but it felt awkward with her now slightly protruding belly, so instead she just sat cross-legged so that the girl could sit with her if she desired.
Elrohir followed Cindy into the room and looked around, then moved to help Haradhel with her group of children - considering that it looked like Aliya, Amdir, Ryu and Cindy were handling the others just fine.

Feng carefully set the little girl down and scratched the back of her head sheepishly, "I so missed that."
She had no clue what the child was asking her.
Meanwhile Cindy made her way over to the chlldren, taking a look first at the little girl in his arms. She gently set her bag down as she held out her hands to take a good look at her arm.
"It's okay," Cindy murmured softly even though she didn't know if the child could understand her.

Donovan noddedl, before turning to go back inside carrying his little girl with him. It made him glad to see that everything was going smoothly and Cindy was there helping already.
Lin wiggled a bit, she wanted to be let down so she could see if Saki could interact with all of the children. She grinned as Donovan let her down so she could get Saki.

Haradhel looked at Feng, then looked at the child. "She was speaking Common Elvish, I don't know it," she told Feng apologetically, looking at the child regretfully. "Try Aliya, it's her first language."
She blinked. "Or Adonai, Aliya's busy with the children. Cindy will probably know where he is, he spends a lot of time helping her out."

The girl with Amdir had no idea what Cindy had said, but she did recognize the tone and she relaxed slightly. She held her arm out to Cindy, slipping her other arm around Amdir's neck so that she wouldn't fall from his grasp.
Amdir, for his part, knelt to his knees so that the child would be closer to Cindy's height, making it easier for the bird girl to do her work.

Lin hurried to get Saki, hoping that the Fluffy Cat did not turn shy on her. Donovan had to chuckle since Lin was so eager to help in her own way. In a way, she was hleping, but getting Saki, since that is what the cat was meant for.
