((o.O wow. You're very poetic, Kiyo!!!))
Sun heard a twig snap just outside the parameters of the garden. She opened her eyes and looked around. She saw Jack standing in the clearing just beyond the trees. She smiled slightly and beckoned him into her sanctuary.

((Thank You! >w< I had to up my RPing in here since the rest of you guys are so good! XD))
Jack coughed when Sun beckoned him into the garden, apparently he had forgotten how to breathe for a moment. Jack walked over to her being extra careful as not to step on any of the plants she had so carefully been raising. "Me again!" Jack smiled, "I was wondering if you could show me what medicinal purposes some of these have?" Jack scanned over the plants and an image of his own house plant lept into his mind. The brown leaves and bent stems that were framed by a window frame caused him to laugh slightly, "I warn you...I have been told I have a black thumb when it comes to plants..."

Sun smiled at Jack's attempt at humor.
"No one has a black thumb, as you say, when it comes to plants. You just have to remember that like people, they need the same kind of love and attention," Sun said softly.
She looked around her garden and contemplated over where to start. Sun stood up and walked across a barren patch of earth and crouched down next to a spidery plant with waxy leaves. She carefully snapped off one of the leaves and stood up, walking over to Jack. She held the leaf out to him.
"This is eucalyptus. It is what I used to make the poultice when Shannon had her asthma attack. It helps to decrease inflammation and open the airways. It is the cure for what the elders call a lack of wind in the channels," Sun explained.
She twirled the leaf around her fingers and inhaled the strong, minty scent of the eucalyptus.

Jack sniffed the air to take in the scent and made mental notes of what she said. However, he kept becoming distracted by the aura that left him speechless in the first place.

((heh, the aura thing has gotten me interested. o.O I had to google this plant.))
Sun let the leaf fall to the ground and get swept up by the gentle breeze. She took a few steps over in the garden and kneeled down next to a beautiful, leafy green plant with a tiny red flower as it's crowning glory. She gently ruffled the petals on the flower and looked up at Jack.
"This is ginseng. It helps to boost your energy level, especially when you are under stress. It would be good for Shannon once the pregnancy gets to be too much for her. It also helps to balance glucose levels in blood and improve immunity," Sun explained.
She stood up, careful not to step on the single ginseng plant.
"There is only one now, but once the seeds spread in a little bit they will be all over the garden," Sun pointed out.
She moved further into her garden looking around for something to point out next.

Jack nodded, he had heard of ginsing once before, but in those days he wasn't one to believe in such things. He sighed inwardly at his ignorance and blindness he had at one time. "Do you think any of the other herbs would be helpful for her pregnancy?" Jack crossed his arms in an attempt to keep his attention stationary.

Sun looked around her garden. She pointed to a small, pink flower.
"This is echinacea. It is used as an antibiotic. It can help prevent infections. It can also be used to treat toothaches, snake bites and other things like that," Sun listed.
She moved over and pointed to a small, white cluster of flowers.
"This is hawthorn. This will help to regulate her heartbeat, if you need to. It can lower blood pressure and increase bloodflow to the brain," Sun explained.
She turned and pointed to a plant similar to a large, stiff fern with yellow flowers.
"This is yucca root. This will help with joint pain when she is sore from the baby's added weight," Sun continued.
She paused for a moment to look at Jack and make sure he was still following her.

For a moment Jack didn't realize that she had stopped talking and was looking at him. He quickly snapped back to attention and nodded with a slight smile. Jack suddenly felt a new sympathy for the experiance of withdrawl that Charlie went through... Jack's insides did acrobatic flips as he tried to restrain his attention to what she was telling him.

Sun could tell that Jack was distracted. However, she knew that it wasn't in his nature to come right out and say what was on his mind. Sun decided to act like nothing was the matter. She pointed to a small, whitish-green plant.
"This is kava kava. This will be perfect as a sedative and muscle relaxant. It is good for nervousness and insomnia. If you need me to make tea for Shannon with this, just let me know," Sun said lightly.
Jack looked lost. She decided to stop covering up and just ask what the matter was.
"Jack, is something wrong?" Sun asked.
So much for being candid.

Jack was taken aback by the question, "It's nothing Sun, just a little distracted by current events..." And the beauty of the garden and you... Jack mentally added. He was sort of shocked himself that he even said that inwardly...However, as soon as he said it, a weight was lifted off his mind, and he felt more like himself. " Continue please..." Jack smiled and nodded.

Sun nodded. She understood. It must have been hard for him to stay focused with everything going on on the island and everyone depending on him. Sun stopped next to a small, slender creeping vine with tiny, fan like leaves wrapped around a small tree.
"This is Gotu Kola. This strengthens the adrenal glands and immune response. It aids in restful sleep, helps inflammation, high blood pressure and can be used as a diuretic," Sun explained.
She moved on and pointed to another small, leafy plant.
"This is featherfew. It brings down fever and helps with headaches, nausea and depression. This will be very helpful to Shannon throughout her pregnancy. If you ever need anything from my garden for her, or for yourself, just tell me," Sun said softly.
She looked over at Jack. His expression was unreadable. It was a mix of fascination and... something Sun couldn't distinguish. She stopped again and looked at Jack.
"Are you sure there is nothing bothering you, Jack?" Sun inquired.
She looked him right in the eyes, waiting for an honest answer.

Jack couldn't help but chuckle at Sun's acute observation. "No really I am fine! Thank you again for taking the time to tell me about the herbs..." Jack smiled and took a bottle of water out of his pack. "Here for you, since you are out here in the sun, it wouldn't be good for you to get dehydrated..." Jack held the bottle out to her.

Sun accepted the bottle, opened it and took a long draught. She swallowed the water and immediately felt better. Sun wished she could just relax and soak her sore muscles in a nice, hot bath with aromatherapy oils and candles. She rubbed a sore spot on her neck and stretched it luxuriously. She looked at Jack.
"There is a lot of sadness behind that cool countenance, Jack. I can see it in your eyes. It will make it easier to talk about it," Sun prodded.
She wanted to help. The hardest thing would be backing Jack into a corner and actually making him admit he needed help. Help that Sun was so determined to give, it almost physically hurt.

Jack stared off into the jungle for a moment, "Sometimes...it's not easier to talk about it..." His mind flashed with images of the crash, the events that had occured while on the island, and of the dreams he has been having recently. He slowly took a sip from his water bottle in an attempt to regain any composure he might have lost. Jack coughed, "I should go back to the caves now..." He quickly turned to leave, in a vain hope he could flee any further questioning...

Sun decided to let Jack go. It would prove fruitless to argue any further. Instead, Sun walked around her garden and continued naming the plants to herself. It would help her get her emotions together. Still, no matter how much she did or what she thought about, Sun's mind kept going back to Jack. She couldn't quite place her feelings toward the man and it irritated her endlessly. Sun sighed and sat in the shade of a tall guava tree to rest for a while. She closed her eyes and slowly drifted off into a peaceful sleep. Only in sleep could she hope to escape the things that haunted her in her waking hours in the island.
