Zahara let him keep right on coming straight toward her, not moving. Only when it looked like for sure she'd be slashed did she pull one of her own and block his blow. The clang of metal striking metal echoed around the room and she stepped back. "Not bad." She spun her own dagger in her hand and then once again sheathed it. "Try again." This time though when he charged her she kicked a leg out to trip him up and slammed the heel of her hand into his jaw, avoiding the slash of the blade.

Arthur ran straight ahead to the drow woman, who just stood there which made him wonder just what the hell was she going to teach him anyway, but when it looked like his blade was going to make contact with her dark skin that was when she brought out her own to block his attack. Even though he was blocked she still complimented him for the attack he did, it made Arthur a little happy but then he remembered to never let his guard down when doing something like this, a teacher can always beat you down when you least expect it. So Arthur did what he was asked to do and went back in for a second try, but this time Zahara did have something planed to use against him and when he got close she brought her leg out to trip him up so he couldn't get close enough, of course Arthur did his best to get out of the way but because he was focused on her foot he wasn't able to se her next attack until it connected with his face. With the force of the heel of her hand slamming against his jaw, Arthur's head snapped back quickly and a light grunt was heard before his body dropped down onto one knee, but quickly Arthur brought himself back to his feet and looked at Zahara with a tiny glare, not one of anger but one of wanting to get her for the hit, so this time he charged in and jumped at her, his dagger in his left hand coming from below to lightly graze her side.

She'd proven her point and he didn't even realize it yet and he'd also helped her right towards that end. She'd taken her previous knowledge and pretty much assumed that Arthur would refuse to remain down on the ground for very long. In fact he did exactly as she thought he would and stood then grinned when he charged her. He left himself wide open for the attack and didn't even realize it. His dagger made slight contact along her side but she barely felt the tiny cut. She reached up and held him braced right where he was, her own dagger poised at his chest to deliver a killing blow. "And just like that you would be dead." She removed her dagger and shoved him back allowing him to regain purchase on teh ground before spinning her dagger. "Rule number one, never ever leave yourself vulnerable. You were intent on attacking me, so intent you didn't block. With a sword you have less chance of letting a blow sneak in but with a dagger, it's extremely simple to slip in and bam, you are fatally stabbed and your opponent is laughing as you fall to the ground, your blood spilling out beneath you. Is the last thing you want to hear another elf's laughter because you made a foolish mistake? No. Then pay attention." She raised both daggers and gestured to her forearms. "You need something to protect you here. Use these to block if you have to, if not lock your blades around theirs, unless they have a sword. Then you just need to strike quick and true. Now then, let's work on your instincts." She walked towards him and easily scribed a rune on him. "This will blind you so you cannot cheat. Now then, i'm going to attack and you're going to block. Guard yourself, use your senses to tell you where I am. Focus Arthur, trust your instincts, they'll save your life." Thus she very calmly stepped back. She knew she'd have to make noise since there was no way he was attuned enough to let her walk silently as she was used to doing. Drow were good at that. Thus she kicked a bit of dirt loud enough that he should hear as she circled him. After a bit of time, she quietly, but not silently crept up onto him, dagger drawn ready to stick it in his back. Even her breathing was not silent, since he'd be dead if she did that.

Well for Arthur he pretty much thought that this was it, but thinking like that always had a way of sneaking up on him and biting him in the a** again, just like always. His attack did make contact with her but he was able to control it so he wouldn't stab her badly, but then on the reverse side she was able to grab him and poise her dagger to show how much he had left himself open for her to kill him. After having the feeling of stupidity wash over him he was shoved back by his teacher before she started on her little 'Why you shouldn't do it speech' even though Arthur had hear this many time before in so many different ways he still paid attention to Zahara, not just for the fact he had to listen but to show respect for her taking the time to do this for him, then she went on a little trick that he could use with his daggers and forearms so he can keep then safe and he made a mental note to her some arm guards made for him. But still he listened with open ears but wonder what she was doing when she scribed a rune on him, and a little 'What the hell?' look was pressed onto his face when she described just what she was doing to him. Okay for Arthur losing one eye was difficult enough but losing the other was going to bug him a lot since that was the only eye he had left. But it wasn't like she was trying to blind him purposely she was trying to train him to be better at using the daggers, so he gave a small nod and then his eye went blind so he couldn't see.

Arthur was scared at first but he reminded himself that she was just trying to train him so he let it slip, so there he stood waiting in silence and his ears twitched lightly to the sound of dirt being kicked up, which made Arthur wonder why did Zahara do that, after all she was way skilled to not let something that small happen; but his mind pushed that back as he focused on trying to find her before she got him. After minutes had gone by Arthur wondered if Zahara was going to do anything at all then his ears twitched lightly at the sound of something moving towards him from...behind! But before he could attack he needed to know just how far they were and then the sound of breathing really close to him was enough to let him know where Zahara was. In a blink of an eye Arthur spun around and raised his dagger to block Zahara's before she could plunge it into his back then thrusted his dagger forwards enough so only the tip was poking her belly lightly. "Hi." Was all he said as he smiled lightly.

So he could be taught. That ingratiated him far more in her mind than anything else probably ever could. She had sworn that if he didn't hear her that time, well it was going to be hopeless. Even a human would have heard with as much noise as she was making. "Fair." She pushed his dagger away and calmly levitated to move herself to another area of the arena. She watched Arthur and noted his movements, judging on when it would be best to attack him next. She came at him on the ground a few more times, striking at him in different directions and different speeds. He wasn't doing bad at all. But now it was time to up things a bit. There were quite a few ways for her to come at him and she decided to use one of those that he wouldn't be expecting. Levitation was clerical magic, plain and simple. Arthur would never learn how to do it, the closest he'd get would be the hover jump move that Sevilin could do. She monitored her breathing, mentally turning the volume all the way down to mute it and then walked towards him, keeping her step light. Sevilin might hear it or even Malik but she doubted Arthur would unless he was really focusing hard. She levitated into the air and when she was high enough called on wind magic to propel her forward, just enough to move her into position then she struck. Swooping down, she looped an arm around Arthur's neck and had her blade at his throat in a matter of moments.

Arthur made a small 'tsk' noise at the sound of Zahara's voice, she could lighten up a little bit when training him but then again she was a drow and they are extremely strict to training so he couldn't really joke about what was going on. So the young elf just stood there once he knew that his teacher wasn't anywhere near him anymore and waited in silence wondering when she was going to attack him next. After maybe an hour had passed Arthur at least blocked almost every single attack she made while on the ground, but he had a feeling that the training wasn't even close to finishing yet so he had to be prepared for anything that she was going to do. But things felt to quiet, and things weren't this quiet at all at least he could hear even the movement of her skirt in the wind or against her skin. Then it clicked, was she going to attack from the air? If so then where? Arthur tried to focus his hearing to pick up even the tiniest hint of her so he could follow her, but when he was actually able to hear something it was too late; he felt an arm loop around his neck to pull his head back and that allowed her to press the cold steel of her blade against his warm flesh. Arthur made a small 'urk' sound due to the movements and sighed as he tried to evaluate the situation, should he risk trying to break free or give in? With the way Zahara had herself position she could attack him again even if he broke free, so Arthur decided to give up on this one and just stood there not doing anything as a symbol of his surrender.

He really wasn't doing bad in her opinion and he'd gotten her nearly every time she'd come at him. Of course she'd not once been as quiet as she could be but that was to be expected. It would become frustrating for him to constantly be snuck up on and she didn't need him frustrated. Calmly she waited for him to lash out and break her hold, pull his own daggers, anything. He didn't. After five minutes passed and she realized he really wasn't going to retaliate she shoved him away from her and shook her head. When would he learn? There was no such thing as surrender in the Underdark. Surrender meant death! "Count yourself damn lucky I'm not a traditional drow Arthur or you would have just lost your life in what was supposed to be a friendly fight!" She studied the wall for a moment and then wiped away the rune, allowing him to see again. Walking up to him she scribed a rope rune onto him and pulled the same move she had on Malik, tossing him against the wall and holding him there. "What part of this do you not understand Arthur?!" Walking over with her dagger poised, she set it at the closure of his pants. "Do I have to hold you here and strip away every piece of clothing with my blade each time you utter a word of surrender to get this point through your head?! You never ever ever surrender! Never! Fight until you can't possibly fight anymore. That's the only way you'll keep from disgracing yourself. Please don't make me torture you to get that through your head!" She'd used her dagger as a pointer, jabbing it in the general direction of his manhood to emphasize the 'never' each time she'd mentioned it. Finally she tossed her hands up in disgust, releasing the rope, causing him to fall to the ground and stood there with her arms crossed, glaring at him. "A perfectly good training session ruined. Did Malik and Sevilin teach you nothing?!"

Sometime had passed since the pups began living at the Manour in Honoursfield. And mostly the kept to themselves in the basement. After all it was a large place, with a training area, bedrooms and entertainemtn room. They rarrly had reason to go beeyond.

But today they had all decided to pay Melikki a visit. Leaving their weapons behind, they condiered it rude to bring them when visiting, they slowly made there way to the second floor. It can take 8 pups sometime when they're energetic, still considered to be only teenagers by their peers... which would meen Daz at the moment.

They finaly found Melikki in one of her favourite places, the kitchen. All of them, including the usualy resigned Jude, rushed her in a large group hug.

Meilikki was attacked by a fury of hugs and young pups while cutting a turnip in the kitchens. She wasn't cooking really, she just wanted to see the quality of the vegitables that the manor was recieving. A little "oof!" escaped her.

"My goodness, you pups get more and more energetic every time I see you." She flashed them her smile.

Mik smiled ar her with his arms wrapped around her waste. "You smell good today Melikki"

Zell, rather tall, hadan arm around her shoulders. "We've missed you! How have you been? Hows that dog of yours?"

Ori beemed, "Look how long my hair has gotten! I told you i wouldn't cut it!"

Zachadia had his arms around her waste from the other side. "we've all gotten stronger Melikki! just like you said we would! and we've been training hard every day! you hsould come down to the arena and see us move!"

Adso was hugging her from behind. "Wait till you see our hand to hand combat! We've even managed to punch Roarke a few times!"

Kuro and Kaida had Mel rather awkawrdly held from the front, but they didn't seem to notice. Kuro smiled, "We've been having so much fun! we love it here!" Kaida laughed, "Yes yes! but we've mnissed oyu, will you teach us some more cooking later?"

Jude had his arms hung around her neck, looking rather odd seeing as it was Jude but hestill had a smiel on his face. "Will you tell us more stories Okasan?"

As Arthur stood there he had a very bad feeling of surrendering to Zahara, she could just be as nasty as Malik or Sevilin and that could spell pain for him; so he thought it over taking his time to figure out just how he could break her grasp on him. But it seemed that he waited too long and suddenly she let go of him and shoved him away, almost causing him to fall flat on the ground. Then she started to yell at how he was lucky she wasn't a traditional drow or he would be dead right now, before he could let out a word he suddenly felt light enter his eye once again causing him to groan a little from it coming at him too fast. But once he was able to actually see he could feel her writing something on him, which made him wonder what rune she was going to activate again and his answer came to him when he was throw hard against the wall. Arthur grunted in pain as he was held there by Zahara with her rune magic, forced to listen to her yell at him for just one mistake he made, he understood but gods damn it this was different than an actual fight! In training you make mistakes and then learn from them to make yourself better, but of course working with elves like Zahara, Malik and Sevilin they looked at things differently so he made a bad call on this.

So there he was pinned against the wall until Zahara finished her rant at how stupid he was for giving in while jabbing her dagger down at his groin to point out that she didn't want him to surrender or he would get the bad end of everything. Then suddenly the rune was released on him and he dropped to the ground without even having a chance to brace himself for the impact, with a light groan Arthur started to get up but Zahara just shouted at him again asking him if he ever gotten anything from training with Malik and Sevilin, and that made him stop; god he felt like a complete idiot for his mistake and he wanted to get pissed off at Zahara but he couldn't, if he did he would hurt her and that would get everyone angry at him. So his hands slowly turned into fists and gripped themselves tightly as he tried to hold all fo his anger back from being released, right now he just wanted to crawl away somewhere and be left alone for about a century or so but that wouldn't happen so slowly he stood up and looked down at Zahara with a glossy look in his one eye. He just looked at her for a moment before walking by and grabbing the daggers he dropped earlier and walked back over to Zahara. "They taught me what they wanted to teach me, after all it's up to me if I wanted to take what they have taught me and use it. I still want you to teach me Zahara, you're right about what you had said and I feel like a complete fool for giving up so fight me again and I wont giver up this time I swear it."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 01, 2006 3:52 pm

One by one, with a laugh, she peeled them off of her. Which seemed neccesary, because they wouldn't get off otherwise. "I can see and feel that you are getting strong. Roarke is teaching you well I can imagine."

"I have been so busy, just like you. You all grow up so quickly. I will come see you train when next I have a free moment."

She chuckled and cleaned her hands. "What kind of stories do you want from me, Jude?" She ruffled his hair.

Onyx grunted at the staff in his back, and responded by pulling on Aella's arm a bit before letting goe and grabbing that damned taff and holding it tightly in his hand, getting himself up and looking at it like he was about the break it in two.

"Cheating staff."

A snort and he tossed it aside, and back to one dagger one open hand stance.

Malik for his part was outside, shirtless, and working. Helping build foundations for homes and such, wells for water and more defensive walling. While the ogres coudl do it, they needed help with the elven need for good looks. Ogres after all went for what works, not for what works and looks good.

And of course he had Laudi outside too, mostly to see how she might take to teh surrounding area as far as her own nesting or rookery wants.

"He wants what now?"

"Well, more of he's considering. A runic warrior game to mimic an attack."

She shook her head and clicked her tongue, "And you suggested it, knowing very well what it could do to the particpants? Not to mention that means I would have to take on Inthara. I wouldn't be surprised if he used a dirty rune or two and turned in on me."

"Yes, actually. But I don't think he would so that, and Malik wouldn't let him. Believe me, I explained the consequences to him." Hm, she didn't seem to willing did she? Then again Fianna was picky about her runes.

Fianna shook her head once more and turned her attention to the baby she held. Why did she have Malikhai? Because she was forcing Piper to actually get out of that room and do something on her own. She was a tad over protective of the child and needed to get back to being just herself. "Just to spread a rumor? And what happens if they is found out?"

She wasn't really happy about it, but her mother would have no arguing on the issue. Pulling her boots on she gave a sigh before grabbing her bandana and tying it on, though she left her ears free of it. She could do this...he'd be fine. He was fed and in good hands and she would know if he needed anything. Yes, fine indeed...which is why she now found herself heading out of the house, more pointedly to go check on her horses, seeing how her stables were going...and was restless, but no one was willing to let her help with anything. Thus she eventually wandered her way to Malik, looking a bit uneasy though. "How's it going? Anything I can do?" Before triple colored eyes looked over to Laudi, raising an eyebrow at the new creature.

Jude beemed. "We love to hear stories about Roarke" All the others around him nodded. Roarke was usually who they wanted to hear about.
