"Here."
A light hand with a surprisingly strong grip took Chris under his arm and lifted him free from the frozen waters of the campus lake, despite the fact he was wearing his heavy armor.
Chris found himself settled down on the lake shore and the wind had died down considerably. He was now standing beside the same woman who was wading off the shores of Hawaii. She smiled at him as she scrutinized his armor, and he could see in the palm of her hand, several small seashells.
My son is very fond of you, you know. She looked at him in keen interest. Christopher Powell?"

*Another God. Well, Goddess in this case. What was her name? Thesis? Theseus? No, that was a guy. Thesium? Thetis! That was it! But why was she talking to him.*
Ares, Aphrodite, Zeus, Hades, Eros, and now Thetis. It's Greek God-a-rama around here. No offense, Mrs Thetis, but I've had my fill of Gods and them messing around in my life.

"I know." She sighed as she offered him a smile. "The gods have been bored it would seem so they've taken a rather heightened interest in your school, and you in particular."
She stepped around him and watched out over the frozen ice of the lake and smiled her appreciation of the way the sun danced off of its surface.
"Eros was not right to do what he did. Oh please don't get him wrong." She looked at him from the side. "He's a good boy. Most of the time. He just takes so much pride in his work that he thinks anything involving love is his business."
She turned back to him and placed the seashells back into one of her pouches.
"If it makes you feel any better, his mother and I did speak to him about what he did. She and I both agreed while he might have had the best of intentions, how he handled it was anything but."
She reached over and caressed the armor on his cheek.
"You are one of the favored ones Christopher. It is why we have taken such an interest in you. Me?"
She smiled like a genuine mother and looked where his eyes would be and it was as if she could see right through his armor and into them. (wel of course she could! hello, goddess?)
"You've been very good for my boy. If it hadn't been for you and Cassandra, and the West boy....this time would have swallowed him whole."

I'm glad I could be help to Achilles. Now if I could just get him to understand the 'busting chops' thing...
Anyway, I'd rather they NOT take an interest in me. Eros was the final straw. I don't need him peddling lies to me about how Cassie feels. I KNOW how she feels. She's made it abundantly clear on a repeated basis. Anytime our relationship was tested, dumped. Anytime a rumor of another girl nosing around me, dumped. When Wally finally showed interest in her, dumped.
For being the God of Love, he sure can be dense. I had Billy do that spell because I was being torn apart and it was damaging my relationship with Dani and Billy and Teddy and Achillles and all my friends. But most of all...I couldn't be friends with Cassie while I was lugging all that drama around. And she wanted to be my friend still. And I always try and give Cassie what she wants or needs. No matter what...
*Chris looked away.*
I want the Gods to leave me alone. I am a non-factor in Cassie's life. I have a new girlfriend.

Thetis smiled brilliantly at Chris and folded her arms in front of her waist.
'Yes, well, 'busting chops' was never one of my son's strong suits. Even Patroclus has a difficult time to get him to lighten up to a joke. I understand it was quite the show just to have Achilles attend a simple dance. He has such high expectations of himself that failure simply isn't an option for him."
She shook her head with a light frown before her brow rose and the smile returned, an albeit sympathetic one.
"And dear, you can't help but be of interest to us. Your inner strength is a thing of wonder. You wouldn't have needed that spell from the young mage. Only time."
She tilted her head to the side, as if examining him.
"The history you shared with Cassandra..." She sighed. "What is meant to be, will be. I could tell you things, but you've made your wishes clear. Just know this..."
She placed her hands on the sides of his head.
"Men have been trying to figure out the minds of women since the dawn of time. They are no closer now than they were then. Just have patience in your heart. Your answer will come."

It was cold...it was cold... it was FREAKING FREEZING! Damn where was this person. Cassie could only assume Frankie was a guy who probably grew up with Wally. Cassie closed her eyes she saw the image of when Wally died and then of a huge demon.
" Trigon..."
She didn't how she knew that was Trigon but she knew. It made her shiver even more just saying his name. Cassie texted Wally..
" So uh?... Who's Frankie?"
Cassie would take it better from him then would some strange dude she's never even met.

She already gave me her answer. And I did what I had to do.
*Chris backed away from Thetis.*
Have a good day, Mrs Thetis.
*Chris hurried away from the Goddess. He was so tired of them speaking in riddles. Harassing him. Yea...real inner strength. He let an alien parasite possess him and he had to get a mage to make his feelings die instead of dealing with them.
Chris banged into his dorm room and slammed the door shut. It had been a weird twenty-four hours.*

Cassie was tapped on the shoulder. A girl with blonde hair, wearing a purple coat and white leggings smiled at her.
"Hi, are you Cassie? I'm Frankie. We didn't decide on a place to meet, so I've been just sort of walking main street looking for you."
Frankie held out her hand for a shake.
"You look like you could use a hot drink! Follow me."

Cassie looked at Frankie. She seemed like a nice pretty girl. Guess Frankie wasn't a guy? Oh well. Cassie walked along next to Frankie.
" Yeah it's kinda cold out here. So your an old friend of Wally's..? Is he okay?"
Cassie had no idea what to make of Frankie yet but she seemed kinda nice.

Frankie sighed as they turned a corner down a darker street.
"Wally and I have known each other since we were in diapers, and I can tell when something's wrong with him. And something really is. Cassie, can I ask...are you his girlfriend?"

Cassie blinked... she couldn't help but be a little jealous. There wasn't really anyone she knew since she was baby other then her mom...the closest was Cissie of whom she met in 2nd grade.
" Well yes... although we just started dating and honestly our first date really didn't go all that well... though it really wasn't Wally's fault... Why? What's wrong with Wally? He's not hurt is he?"
If Wally was hurt or needed help why was this girl beating around the bush? Who exactly was she to Wally?

The street that they had been walking down became sparser and sparser until it seemed like they were pretty far removed from Main Street. Frankie came to a stop and turned to face Cassie.
"I'll tell you what's wrong with Wally, Cassie. And it's something that you can fix! You see...you have to break up with him. You WILL break up with him. Immediately."
Frankie crossed her arms and in the darkness, her eyes almost looked like they were glowing magenta.
"Just drop him a text or something and tell him it's over."

Cassie looked at Frankie... she wasn't impressed. Ohhh! Power to make your eyes glow and change color... so scary.
" I don't think that decision is up to you. Whether Wally and I stay together or not it's between us. So stay out of it."
What was with this girl? Was she like Wally's stalker or something?

"That decision IS up to me, because I know what's best for Wally. And THAT. IS. ME!"
Suddenly, the street lights started to shake, and then bend towards Cassie. One of them wrapped around her torso and rose her up in the air.
"Wally never mentioned me to you, did he? His TRUE love! You're just a pale imitation of the blonde girl he's REALLY in love with - ME!"
Frankie rose up in the air, buoyed by a magenta-colored light.
"Wally was always there for me, and I love him with all my heart and NO OTHER GIRL CAN HAVE HIM!"
The street light started tightening around Cassie's waist.
"Say it! Say that you'll break up with him! Or else I'll break YOU up!"

Damn this girl was crazy. The lamp post squeezed Cassie tighter... if she was a normal girl this would be intimidating... if she was a normal that was. Cassie flexed the muscles in her arm easily tearing apart the lamp post which was suppose to hold her. Cassie then floated in mid-air looking at Frankie unimpressed.
" That's for Wally to decide. He can speak for himself you know. Now look I don't wanna hurt you so why don't you just go home?"
Cassie crossed her arms. She didn't want to fight this girl... Frankie seemed a little on the crazy side but Cassie did believe her when she said that she loved Wally.
