Well, in 14 and a half hours I leave for the UK for 24 days!
Weirdly, I'm more excited for the Tim Hortons (Canadian coffee shop) at the airport than the actual trip. But that'll come about two minutes before I board the plane.
I GET TO SEE WICKED!!

Also, high tea in the gardens at coventry. Awesome posh-ness. I brought a summer dress just for the occasion.

Grad commencement ceremonies happened two days ago. So now I'm.. well I was already officially graduated, but now I've received the symbolic diploma.. both of them.
That was the most BORING ceremony ever.
I'm surprised at how few people I knew. Even by face. Seriously don't have many friends my age.
The four inch heels were totally worth it, even if they hurt like hell after being in them and walking around the entire time.
And I looked damned sexy, but no one saw cause of the robes.
I'd show you pictures but I really ain't photogenic, so none came out good.

So yeah. I'll be laptop-less for a month.
THEN JOB OFFER IN JAPAN!
I'll leave around the 11th.
Hella exciting.

Now I'm done me..
Firstly, totally jealous of any con-goers. I always miss the singular one in my town.. seriously need to move to toronto or sommat.
Next, NADIKINS!
Calgary sucks, but it is only a four hour drive from my hometown^^
By then I should have my license, but there's no way I'm driving that far for you, dear.
As for the temperature, you'd adjust. We all have to. It's when it gets cold quick instead of easing into it that we all complain bitterly instead of just the normal whinging.
Truthfully, I'm ready for it to get colder. Hot just doesn't do it for me.. I need more shorts. And, you know, colourful clothes and not just blacks and browns.

Is the University of Alberta on that list?
That's where I'm going.
My first semester classes include: Sociology, Symbolic logic, Some random english class, Literature of Greece and Rome and Linguistics.
Awesomness.
'Gratz on the philosophy thing!

Alrighty! See you guys in a month!

Spazz is such a big silly with her perverted cat-woman loving scythe

I only recently saw the first two episodes of Soul eater, but it seems like spazz is leap-years ahead of my anime enlightenment
xD

The anime apparently completely veers off from the manga
So I need to read it... But I prefer watching so I haven't yet > >
Hurr hurr
My friend's camera is so blurry xD
That second one would've been super cool
ALSO, I watched videos the band posted, and I'm in the background of quite a lot of them. xDD
They're Uchu Sentai NOIZ

Ah! Have fun with all your traveling, Celeste!

I still have a few months before I leave Dx

Lawl I heard of Soul Eater and I watched one episode, but it's definitely not my forte. I do have a small figure of Maka and Soul though and it's kinda cute. xD I haven't watched much anime at all, been too busy with school and other stuff. I did watch Bakemonogatari though and I think I should try Angel Beats.

Screw everyone leaving for out of the country, I can't afford that LOL

Nah I hope you guys have a great time xDDDD

If I don't get my scholarship, I may not have money for travel
...or food. |D

Yeah, well... you have a point there Celeste.
In any case, I could always wear more layers of clothing.

I think I have the advantage of being a native in a warm climate.
I say it's better to live in the tropics and move to the temperate north than do go about it vice-versa.
There's only so much clothing you can shed...
and recently the heat and humidity have been really rough!
Even for me, and I'm a freaking monitor lizard- even by the local standards!
A heat index of "Feels like 115 F" is not something you can easily adapt to without cramming yourself on a portable freezer.

But no... the only National Exchange college in Alberta is Calgary.
But, ultimately, I the exchange program is just an excuse to get out a year early.
That's when I'll be cracking my a** to really get admitted to any university over in the States.
I hear great things about Canada in terms of people and culture: like Europe in the New World.
If anything, I've been told I have more of a European spirit than anything else. Especially recently, after my renewed vigor in philosophy, literature, and whatnot.
But there’s still Texas, Florida, and Wisconsin on my list as well.

Heheheheheee!
I can hardly drive for two hours to see my family and friends!
Usually, I have to be threatened with lack of funds to go back.
I'd rather lock myself in inside the apartment like a monk on a literary and philosophical retreat... conquering Europe in Napoleon: Total War!
>=3
I'd have to get really motivated to even attempt the halfway point.
Nothing personal... I just hate driving and my iTouch got screwed over by the insane humidity, so I can't listen to podcasts, audiobooks or college lectures.
That is torture!

Oh, I’ll post the piece in the ‘Creative Corner’ right after this!

Gah!
Part of that last post was missing!

Aaaanyhow,
the anime con looks like it was very awesome!

We only see small ones here.
Comic Con is pretty big here, but we never got around to going.
I was looking forward to actually doing a decent House cosplay rather than the half-assed one I did for Kaisen in the spring.
But I guess I just wasn't really into the event.
I ended up opting out of it altogether so I could grab a Mocca Frappuchino with a friend and spend the day at Starbucks, talking about stuff, looking at a video or two on his iPhone, and scribbling notes on my notepad.
It was fun, none-the-less.

But I do enjoy going out to conventions, if only to take a glimpse at the striking difference between the puertorican society and 'pop culture'.

I'll stop talking... it doesn't take much to make me pull my hairs out in anticipation of moving to the States... or Canada... or the UK... maybe France after I learn and polish my French.

Nadi is silly gonk
France? Really? >o>
I suppose anywhere is at least a BIT better than the states, but i'd go for the UK if I were you, Nadi.

I'm definitely no expert at government, but i'm pretty sure (financially) things are about to become terrible for the U.S.(and literally, US! O; )

You might wonder how that might matter, but in terms of supporting yourself while you're in college, you might find a bit of trouble picking up cash.

I might just be spouting gibberish, but i'm just pointing out...stuff...
..
Wow, I lost my train of thought back there. sweatdrop
Maybe you should just ignore what I said. redface

Well, to give you a rough idea of how bad I'm doing financially...
the public university system here is excelent and incredibly cheap.
By this I mean credits cost around $47 and tuition hardly goes past 1k for a single semester.

The Rio Piedras campus offers $50/month housing.
We don't have housing in my campus, but I'm moving in with a friend for a very spacious 3-bedroom apartment we split two-ways for $330.
Water's included, so we'll bump it out to 380 for the electric bill.

College barely costs $7000 a year, and we're just managing to scrape by since my mother got laid off her six-digit work and we're stuck paying the same bills with less money.

Financial aid still refuses to take me in because of my mother's income.

Unless I qualify for several scholarships and land a part-time job, I doubt I'll be able to go anywhere else to finish my undergraduates.
Since I'll be a philosophy major, I'd rather not get knee-high in Student loans since I'm not really certain I'll have much to look forward to except graduate school, a Ph.D. and a possible job as a professor or a teacher for a rather sophisticated high school system that incoporates a philosophy course or two in its curriculum.

But, even the States is SO much better than living in Puerto Rico.
I can't stress enough just how much I hate this place.
Right now, I can't even dream about dreaming to go to the UK.
I haven't the slightest idea how I can make that even plausible.
It's hard enough for me to try and escape out into the Mainland US.

Buuuuhhhh...
I feel so trapped and clautrophobic it's depressing.

Elpi, you should order a man-sized package from Puerto Rico...
Nadi might just be able to slip in to London!
OOOHHHHHH!
I want to go to the Birkbeck college of London and see A.C. Grayling!
The man is AWESOME!
He's like Ducky from NCIS, except he's an AWESOME philosopher!
Am I rite? =D
I don't know why I thought of Ducky the first time I saw him.
Now the image just stuck forever...

Giberish, you say?
Gibberish is my native tongue!
Gin speaks my language!
Hooray!
