No, people are spamming because if this is passed it will cut down on piracy. All these people are getting butthurt because that means "derrr, it'll 'censor' the internet" when it'll only stop hackers from stealing s**t, and if it doesn't stop them entirely, it'll atleast slow it down.

If these bills pass, I will have no reason to be on Gaia anymore, because everything that I post will have to be read and approved before it can go up; which means that I can't role play anymore, because of these "copyright infringements."

If the bill only dealt with stopping piracy then there wouldn't be so many problems with it. The group that opposes this bill because they want to pirate things is only a small minority. There were just so many other little things attached to the bill, and it basically gives major media companies the power to literally censor the internet.
And that's why it was stopped. It's not spam, it's a warning. Just because you're not doing anything wrong doesn't mean that the bill was right. If that bill had been passed then everything that has vanished for you wouldn't just blocked for a few hours, it would be gone forever. Or, y'know, at least until the ones that still weren't participating in this demonstration started getting blocked.
What you've seen in the past couple days has only been the tip of the iceberg. Can you imagine how much greater the opposition would be if every social networking site suddenly went down as a result of Sopa?
That would be the most massive concerted force in the entirety of human history, an army greater than any that has ever been assembled, focused on one goal - bring back the internet.
Or maybe I'm just a drama queen.

Stray, you are a drama queen. If it was honestly that bad and that threatening, there would be alot more opposition. People are just being stupid.

Eric Coldfire Stray, you are a drama queen. If it was honestly that bad and that threatening, there would be alot more opposition. People are just being stupid. Here in Wisconsin, there are a lot of people with that sort of mentality towards Governor Walker and his budget cuts. He's cutting the budget of everything that has little to no budget currently and not making any changes to anything that truly needs to be changed, and he calls it good. We who want him recalled are willing to pay the extra taxes to prevent $64 million more in budget cuts to schools, public transportation, and other important state functions. But people with your sort of mentality are what allow the government to rape and restrict the average citisen, and then complain when what was promised comes to pass.

You want to know what sucks about the government?
If we DIDN'T have it, someone could walk into our rooms right now, rape us, rob us blind, and kick us out, claiming our room as their and there'd be no authority to do anything about it.
If mankind wasn't so full of s**t, we wouldn't need such shitty authorities, and there's no way to escape this. Even in the deepest jungle free of all rules and reason, there's some ******** Christian missionary doing their best to shove 'democracy' and 'bureaucracy' in the faces of the natives....

And even in the biggest, shiniest city there are folks clubbing other people over the head and taking their pretty things.
So admittedly the whole authority thing still doesn't work that well as a deterrent.
What I mean to say is that IF there were no authority to punish people for doing all of those terrible things then there would also be no authority to prevent someone else from punishing those people.
If everyone could go around killing anyone else whenever they wanted then either everyone would be dead or there'd be no more crime.

I was just thinking the same thing Stray. I'd have probably killed or at least severely wounded around 10 by now, if I was allowed to.
Most of the people I'd murder would be in gangs or criminals. I say lets stop trying to rehabilitate and lets start cleansing this earth. Protect the innocent, not preserve the guilty.
