Maris: I've had similar things happen to me, around when I was 14-15. It wasn't just a one-time thing, it happened over the course of a year or so until I was finally brave enough to stop the man.
Since then, though, my parents have treated me differently.. at first, they were overprotective, and I can understand that. I'm surprised my ex-boyfriend withstood their overprotectiveness and looking back on it now, I find it rather sweet that he didn't let my parents attitude towards him affect him. Not that I saw, anyway. He knew about it, and didn't treat me any differently, but understood there were certain things at the time I couldn't stand to hear/see/do.
Two of my other friends also know about it, but they don't treat me any differently either. I've only had my parents be overprotective of me ever since, in the sense where I can't even leave the house by myself. I can't go anywhere on foot, or even on my bicycle, and all my dates all throughout high school my sister or brother had to 'chaperone'. My /little/ sister and brother.
I'm kinda glad he withstood all that mess just for me, it was really sweet of him. I'm glad he didn't let it affect him.
And.. I believe this was before you joined, but I had made a little fuss about people joking about those types of things in this guild a long while ago. Of course I was sensitive about it back then, but now I've realized that I can't really expect people to adhere to things like that and that no matter what I say or do, I am going to hear it practically anywhere I go. It still does bother me a little, but not as much as it used to.

CleoSombra Shiori Miko Valheita Shiori Miko I love how the second I'm in a bad mood it feels like no one will talk to me. At least it's only when you're in a bad mood. ; ; It seems worse really. I figure these are people I can trust to help me through something but it looks like I really can't.
There's just no balance. I don't want people to think I'm like gonna die 24/7 but when my disease is getting to me they think I'm fine. People tend to shy away from what they don't know, especially if they don't know how to help.
Are the people you're referring to sufficiently knowledgable about scleroderma? Other than my family, no one's I know offline has made much of an effort to learn about it. Jon has tried but he's still pretty confused how to deal with it. When I mention something relating to it most people will just brush it off. I don't look sick, so I must not be sick.

Wish I could psychically tell how people thought o' me. It'd make it easier to know who I should keep a knife pointed at and not.

Of course not, Kammy. I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who thought you were annoying at all, you're definitely one of my favorite people to talk to. 3nodding

I had a dream that Sentinel, Overseer, and someone-else-I'm-not-sure-who (I think it was supposed to be Cresento, but...he was a pirate) all got eaten by giant fish. ._. I'm sensing a pattern here.

My dignity is officially dead. Hopefully I get used to this faster than I got used to missing my front teeth.
