JK: Mass Effect 3 ending went not good. Basically, it just sort of stopped instead of ending. Bioware were nice enough to put out a free DLC expanding it, which was awesome of them, but by the time it came out, I just sort of only really wanted my character and her space-boyfriend to settle down and adopt a ton of alien babies. And their ending focused on worldbuilding instead. THAT'S SO RUDE. Also, by saying it didn't end well, I sort of did a pun! Maybe. Not really.

I went to Cadbury Land as a kid, and it was cool. Didn't go again as a grownup. Should've. A friend did and came back with a truck ton of chocolate for like £20 'cause he'd gone when the stock was about to go. =[

I probably could go to those places, but I like complaining. x]

Ooh, so you're still at Brum? And yeah, I used to feel really sorry for invigilators. Once I had an exam on a Saturday morning, and whenever talking time was allowed I was going "Omg, I'm so so sorry D:" because I was the only person taking the exam so it was my fault. But at least you're getting paid. Is the money okay? And awesome about getting to teach, go you!

Post-Brum hasn't been all that splendawesome, but I'm getting myself sorted out, and I'm retraining to be a Peer Support Worker for people with mental health difficulties. I'm supposed to be finding someone I know to do a case study on, and I do know people I could ask, but asking that feels sooo invasive that I'm putting it off. They did offer that if you can't find anyone, they'll find you someone. Which is silly, I should just do it, but I don't really want to make the people I care about feel like lab rats, and that's a bit what it feels like.

I don't follow comics, I just like TAS and the games. And... actually, not so much the Nolan films. But hey ho.

Kitsune: Even Forbes weighed in on the ME3 situation, haha. In retrospect, I do feel silly, but I was literally upset about it for a while. I was invested, leave me alone. I didn't participate in shouting at Bioware or any of that stuff though, I just stopped playing, so I suppose that's okay?

Ahh, I love the rain. I'm opposite to you, I like warm and rainy. Muggy, basically.

Oh dear, *hugs* I hope you feel better! And I'm fine, just finished an utterly terrible week, but lets see how this one goes.

There is some interesting characterisation stuff in the Noa arc, and it is always nice to take a bit of time to just enjoy the world for a bit. And that duel with people getting turned into statues? Holy s**t that freaked me out on first watch, and you can't always fit weird and wonderful ideas into overarching plot. So yes, I agree.

Seventeen years. Woah. o_o

The novel has already made me cry repeatdly, so I have no issue with believing that. I made it all the way through both the Waterloo and Sewer sections as well, so I really need to get on that for completeness sake. Sad Valjean will not defeat me! (It totally will.)

I was thinking "Wow, I'm crying at a book. The only other book I've ever cried at was Notre Dame de Paris... damnit Hugo."

I go back and forth on Marius. On the one hand, he fails so badly at life, it's hilarious and sort of adorable. On the other... shut up Marius. Idk. And this won't mean anything, but Gareth Gates, a tween singer guy thing played him on stage a while back. I HATED Gareth Gates when I was 13. He was actually good in the role. So maybe I'm doomed to be conflicted.

I assumed fighting was the protocol. We can't agree to disagree, we can't!

Woah, that post just sort of kept going -ded-

JK: Yeah, I think I'd start to hate cloudy more if I lived in England. But I still prefer heat to freezing, probably because we always have AC where I live. So if you stay inside and have fans on all the time, you usually are only uncomfortable at worst. But with cold... sometimes it's so cold that no matter how much you bundle up, it's not enough, and then you turn the heater on and it's not refreshing like AC. It smells weird and makes me dizzy and dries your skin out. It always seems weird to me that most places don't have AC though. XD I'm so spoiled living in the desert.

Yeah, I read the series was the first two seasons, which also made me less interested. I mean, it was pretty much two seasons... except a quarter of the length. So seriously, what's the point? I'd prefer a different direction. And yeah, if there's books, that does sound like it'd have more to offer. Haha, I was honestly surprised by this, but I didn't like Sam from the start. He seems like my kind of character, and whenever I thought about not liking him in the first couple of seasons, I still had to admit that, logically, I would agree with him more than Dean or anyone. He makes the most sense, but he's just... unlikable to me. Feels like a Gary-Stue I guess. But all the same, I agree in that I adore the brother dynamic they have, and I'd never want Sam out of the show. I even started quite liking him around season three, but then that started to go back down to meh by four. I did definitely prefer the old Sam though; yes he has good, believable character development, but damn it he's so tough and dominant now and not as interesting around Dean and never the damsel anymore! Or the Samsel. Whatever. I did hear the series was supposed to end after season five, so that's why six was meh, but am glad to hear it's getting better again. I felt similar to Ruby that I did to Sam, where I was glad she was there, but didn't particularly like her. I vastly preferred Blonde Ruby over Brunette though; I felt like every time a demon had a knew body, the actor was good enough to make them still seem like the same demon... except Ruby's. She was totally different, and no where near as interesting. Bella I found fascinating and fun to watch, but man I really hated her too. My favorite minor characters thus far though are Anna, Ellen, Gabriel, and Chuck, though Anna easily tops that list by far.

The Incredible Hulk was a lot less depressing than Hulk, but it definitely did not resolve the conflict. However, it had a happier ending in its own way I felt. Hulk also acted similar to how he was in the Avengers, though Bruce Banner was of course completely different. I really wanted to like Thor, but he's always been one of my least-favorite Avengers, and even though I really like Loki, I've never been able to get into the whole Asgard part of Marvel. But other than that, I also just felt Thor's character development was an absolute mess, and the only thing that did hold the movie up was Loki himself. I think you're the first person I've heard who liked Iron Man least though and Iron Man 2 more than 1. XD Iron Man 1 was my favorite besides Avengers, and Iron Man 2 was just... okay to me.

Morgey: Oh man, that does sound really invasive, asking friends to do a case study on. I think I'd almost rather have them pick a mystery person...

Oh hey! Someone else who didn't care for the Nolan films. I thought I was the only one. I mean I still enjoyed them all well enough, but I like my super heroes to be that, super heroes... I don't want gritty realism with my colorful spandex.

I understand; a good story that you yourself are playing part in is really investing. You didn't throw a hissy fit, so that sounds mature enough for me. You're allowed to have your heart broken by fandoms sometimes. XD

Eww, yeah I hate mugginess... if I have to have rain, I definitely prefer it cool rain rather than warm.

Thanks, I'm doing a lot better today. I actually ate a full dinner tonight and still have it down! I think it was just food poisoning because it went so quickly. Sorry to hear you had a bad week though, but yes, hopefully this one will be better!

That statue duel was my favorite part of the Noa Arc! Everyone was so sad when they lost their friends, and when Jounouchi told Yuugi to keep dueling to save Kaiba even though he might lose his sister? *sniff* My little boy had matured so much. So yeah, I agree. Sometimes it's good to pull away from the plot so you can put your weird but awesome ideas into mini plots!

I think I only cried at the end of the novel, but it definitely wasn't the only one to make me cry. XD Harry Potter five did. And six. And seven... multiple times. I was such a baby with that series. I was all proud I never cried on the movies though, until the seventh one... I didn't even last through the first seventh movie.

I mostly just agree with the shut up Marius thing. I know they were integral to the part, but he and Cosette I'm just like OMG so annoying! Stop having your stereotypical Romeo and Juliet story during a war!

No, we must fight. Batman sucks monkey bums. *lights cigarette* I am waiting for your retort.

Yeah, posts tend to do that when the three of us are talking...

I love the cold because bundling up is fun! You're talking to someone who had her bedroom window as far open as it would go in December. But heat, it clings, boo. We have no AC.

Yeah, I went in today and asked them to just find me someone. And they said to come in and find someone from the drop-in they do. So I'm going to have to bite the bullet. And do that after work and voluntary work, so I will be dead. It's not very long though, so it'll probably be easier than it seems.

Woo! I thought I was the only one not to love those films! -High five!- They're good films in their own right, but I just feel they try to hard to be gritty. I want my grittiness to come out of good writing, not just making the scenery dark and going "LOOKLOOK GROWN UP, LOOK".

I also don't much care for Tim Burton for similar reasons -runs away-

Fandom should be fun and sparkles and joy, and instead all the feelings get in the way, and it's just pain and desolation =[. Oh well.

My week is going somewhat better, hope you keep on the up and up!

Did LK do the statue duel? I went looking and couldn't find. Was starting to wonder if I'd imagined it. And aww, Jounouchi. <33 So adorable. And yay agreement! I loved the overarching plot of that series as well, but I always prefer character study to the more traditional overarching arcs, so hooray for mini-plots!

I never read Harry Potter. D: I know, I'm bad. I did read the first one, and thought it was great, but I just don't follow serieses very well. And now I'm all grown up, the effect of growing up alongside the books would be lost on me. I mostly read pulp sci-fi so not many opportunities for tears.

Cosette makes me sad because she's actually got a lot of potential to be an awesome character, but she's just sort of in love with Marius instead. AND THAT'S ALL SHE DOES. With her history, and her dark sense of humour and her persistance just... aww. Wasted opportunity. And it does genuinely annoy me that the musical hypes Marius up so much, when in the book he's all like "I said I'd die if she moved and she did so she must want me dead! -Epic sob- so like I guess I'll help out my friends or something idk". Lolz. No. So yeah, shut up Marius, I guess. I wish we could follow Cosette once she knows all the stuff and see what she becomes because I bet it's cool, but someone did publish that and it didn't go down well. Haha.

You are incorrect and I disparage your opinion. -Throws gauntlet-

Are you implying we say a lot? Idk what you mean!

Morgey: I've never been to Cad world but might at some point. I go back and forth between thinking 'nah it's just aimed at children,' and seeing my friends go as a bunch of rowdy young adults and come back 'yay candy!'

I like complaining too, but I also really want to go to cool new places so when the bf finishes exams I will.

Good luck with finding a lab rat - I mean volunteer. J/k, seriously though I think most people would want to help you, although at the same time I don't. Mental health seems to be more heavily stigmatised here than in the States, which is surprising, it's rare when the States don't win the 'most backwards way of thinking' award. I mean if it was me I'd totally help, but I'm probably not near you (geography = not my friend) and have no mental health difficulties that I'm aware of. Which is probably the big thing, it's difficult to go up to someone and say 'your mental health difficulties.' I mean I have a few friends who'd love that, they talk about them and they want others to talk about them to. They want a dialogue and openness and they'd probably like to contribute to anything that pushes to help mental health awareness. However, people who aren't comfortable talking about mental health and/or are in denial about mental health probably wouldn't like to be approached. So if you know people who fit into the former I'd definitely at least ask them, they'd probably really want to. If everyone you know is part of the latter a mystery person might be the easier path though.

Eww muggy! It was so muggy today, ugh. Rain + warm is the worst. Rain should never ever be warm, this is why I hate Florida. Not that the rain here is warm mind you, but it literally was in Florida, it was just awful. It was like taking a shower in my clothes, which was not a comfy feeling.

Kits: I've never been so uncomfortably cold that I couldn't stand it, even in warm. I have a pretty good internal temp control. My body reasonable conserves heat or cools off in extremes, so I lean toward disliking being gross and sticky more than being cold. I hate being sweaty, I don't sweat a lot but every little bit makes me so unhappy. Plus it means doing laundry way more often, and as we've discussed before the UK isn't very big on dryers so I don't want to do laundry anymore frequently than needs be. I'd take moderate weather over anything though. Extremes are not for me. Given how much AC has cost in places where I have had it I'm going to say I don't mind being spoiled, I can't afford to be spoiled. xd

Heh, Gary-Stu. There seems so much focus on how Sam screws up and makes bad choices (even if he is book smart) to think of him in that way, though I do think he's very much the damsel in distress in the beginning, and I have to say I have a thing for male damsels. I probably miss that more than anything sadly. I've never heard it was supposed to end, it's always been renewed well before the end of the season (like it's already been renewed for season 9 for over a month now). The only time it was maybe not coming back was after season 2 I think which is why I think it's been the only season to actually have a somewhat conclusive series finale. I wouldn't have minded if it ended at season 2, any other time it was just a cliff hanger finale which would have been annoying. As you are at least in if not past season 6 (I thought you'd said 5 previously) I will say what my gripe is with season 6 + 7, how do you top apocalypse? So it tries to have a huge major arc that's just like the apocalypse, except of course it can't be the apocalypse. So it's an inferior version of the same thing, minus eventually old Sam starts to come back in a sense (though he'll never be a Samsel again). I'm getting happier with it because in some ways it's going back to the original style (minus super strong bro love and Samsels), isn't trying to top the apocalypse with an inferior apocalypse, and is once again on an arc that can come after what's come before it and seem to be leading somewhere rather than failing to compete. Of course if this arc ends without the series ending (and I don't get the feeling it'll end this season, most of their arcs do stretch over 2 seasons, barring 3 which happened the year of the writers strike and floats as the bridge between 1/2 + 4/5) I fear there will be another 6/7 conundrum on hand. Guess we'll see. I fully agree with what you mean about Ruby, I believed blond ruby, I knew brunette ruby was evil from the moment you met her. The actress was 'hot' but not good. I couldn't stand Anna, I do like Ellen and I loved Gabriel. I was rather fond of Chuck too. Ellen reminds me that I didn't like Jo, she just tried too hard to be that thing that Jo is (words escape me atm). I also enjoyed Rufus, though he is quite minor. Also, Lucifer, rather liked him. Yea I like way too many characters in this series, it's probably why I've liked it so much for so long. I don't usually like anywhere near this many characters in a TV series.

I love Loki as well, and so while the Asgard part is probably the one part of Marvel I actually like, I also don't see how or why it ties in with the rest. I'm the only person I know who likes Iron Man 2 more than 1 as well, though who likes what 'hero' and thus franchise varies - though I've yet to meet anyone who has Hulk as number 1 and nobody puts Iron Man last (again, not counting Hulk, cause I think I'd put that last too). I think in theory I'd like Captain America the most as a person within his own contexts, his a little awkward in the future and his contexts are not ones that I love. If I try to approach him individually though he's probably my favourite Marvel hero (Loki is my favourite character). Tony Stark embodies so much of what I hate though, and I will never be able to look past that with Iron Man. RDJ isn't really helping atm clamouring he'll probably not sign on for Avengers 2 unless they give him at least 80 million. He got 50 million for the Avengers while most of the others got 200,000, and they aren't threatening to quit. I'm not saying the studio needs millions to billions either. However RDJ is being very much the entitled rich guy that Tony Stark is. I'm sick of entitled Rich people. I've been ranting all day on FB today. Rep Lamar Smith and his proposal that Congress needs to decide where science grants go rather than scientists is what set me off. Most senators and many reps are millionaires. These are all massively wealthy people who receive tax payer salaries that are 4 times the national average. We fire teachers, most healthcare professionals don't make even half of what senators/reps make. And research needs more accountability? Namely the two criteria will be research that contributes to national defense and maybe health. No room for intellectual merit or anything else. What the hell is that? And I read forums on news articles (which I shouldn't as most of my news comes via Yahoo) where people blame and bash the poor. Students and their taking on 100K debt is the problem, not institutions charging 25K a year. People living off gov't aid, like you know, the disabled. I won't repeat my whole rant from earlier but basically recession = bash the poor and underprivileged. So the massively privileged squabbling about money absolutely pisses me off. I can't enjoy Iron Man b/c at the end of the day Tony Stark is nothing more than every bit the selfish, greedy, delusional, removed from common society figure that I'm increasingly disgusted with everyday. Apologies for the somewhat negative tangent. xd

I guess that's why I do like the Dark Knight trilogy, gritty realism doesn't make me angry, I can sympathise with gritty realism. Not so much with spandex. razz

Morgey: I can't be bothered to scroll up now that I see that you've asked for someone. So yea, umm, good luck with I have no idea anymore. I'm sleepy. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Not a big Tim Burton fan either so you at least don't have to run from me. I also think it'd do him some good to work with NEW people. I get he has his hard on for his wife Helena, and of course JD, but seriously. He casts talented actors, and I think he might be a talented director (while I'm unable to name names atm I'm pretty sure he's had some worthwhile endeavours), however he's just become too stagnant now. Needs to take risks and try new people. Not making the same movie over and over again with different character names and backdrops.

Statue duel?

I feel left out of this fight. ALL SUPER HEROES SUCK and umm...SMELLS! *throws computer mouse*.

I last went to Cadbury Land with Brownies, so I'd have been like, nine? It seemed amazing at the time though!

Yeah, people generally do talk to me about it quite a bit, and likewise I them. It still feels kind of weird though. Idk. That's interesting about the States being better about it. Gives me a bit of hope, I guess. 'Cause we do love copying the US a whole lot. The place I'm training with won't even let people without some sort of diagnosis through the doors, because back when they did, people would come in aaand basically be really offensive about it. I don't like being exclusionary, but you always get someone who mucks things up.

Haha, sorry. I'm still wavering because it feels like cheating to do it like that, but oh well, it's done now.

Yeah, the Tim Burton movie was a good movie at first, but we've seen it. I just get this sort of "I am blowing your mind" vibe from his films which is annoying because I've seen that movie. Also, he took away the jokes from Sweeny Todd, and got praised for being so out there, but I mantain that having jokes is far more out there than not.

Statue duel. In the Noa arc, people were getting turnd into statues and Kits can remind you of the details because I've forgotten.

Do not bash superheroes, I am serious. Apart from the Green Lantern, because that s**t's funny.
PostPosted: Thu May 09, 2013 11:13 pm

Morgey: I hate bundling; you can't move! And then I end up having just little hand stumps sticking out to play my video games, and then my hands get cold! Not fun. But yeah, I'll bet you that if AC suddenly stopped in the Arizona desert, a lot of people would die. There are definitely survival methods for living in the desert without it, but that's not something we've learned. It's fairly necessary here.

Yeah, it doesn't sound so bad. I mean, there's more disconnect with a stranger, so it's probably less awkward.

Yeah, and I feel the grittiness drives the movies more than the plot or characterization. The plots are disjointed and messy while at the same time just masking an uninteresting concept with interesting grittiness, and the characters just... suck. I mean the real, relatable characters. Joker was more of a caricature, and he was great. But he wasn't relatable. He was a performance. I didn't give the slightest s**t about Bruce, Rachel, Bane, Bane's weird mistress, Raz Al Ghul or however you spell it, or most others. I had a vague semblance of liking Dent, Gordon, and Alfred, but that was it.

I am a fan of Tim Burton films, but more his classic stuff. XD He's gone... meh. And I'm not a huge fan. Never obsessed with any of his stuff, but I quite like Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride at least.

Glad to hear your week is going better. And I believe I am fully recovered, though maybe still eating a little less than normal. Probably a good thing. XD

Yeah, he did. But he made it really super short and nowhere near as interesting as the original. I think it was just a small part of an episode. And agreed on dawws and hooras!

Aww, it is a pretty good series, and pretty quick. And I actually didn't grow up reading it either; my parents wouldn't let me until near the end of high school, so I started when the sixth book was already out. I blew through it real quick, and ate up the seventh one. Didn't grow up with it and was practically an adult when I started, but I still adored the series; it's just that good.

Agreed on Cosette. I was so excited for her when she was little, I thought she would be a great character and have a great relationship with Val Jean, but there was hardly anything besides her lurve for Marius once she grew up.

*eats gauntlet* The Green Lantern is superior to Batman. Ohhhhhh

JK: Chocolate is not just for children! You should go! And ship me a souvenir!

Sounds pretty nice; my body's the opposite. I get hot and cold really easily. Thankfully I do not tend to sweat too much. But yeah, I think most people prefer moderate weather.

Yeah, I don't think Sam is as much of a Stu after season 2. But that's why I first started not liking him. XD Yet somehow now that he has reasonable character development that unStus him, I like him even less... I do have a thing for male damsels, but I do actually prefer the Deamsel over the Samsel. XD Damstiel I'm also pretty fond of, though it's rare. And my info may've been wrong; it was just something I heard from a friend about it being planned to end then. And actually I am still on season five; almost done with it now, but still there. XD But I've heard a bit about six/seven to know a tiny bit about the plot, like it has to do with Leviathans? But yeah, I guess I just hope it continues in the old style, but with better overarching plots like the Apocalypse thing. I'm not saying it needs to be as bad or important as the Apocalypse, because how would they even do that? But I felt the plot makeup itself, not the scale, was stronger than the main plot of the first two seasons. But I still want more standalone episodes, and more ghosts! I'm sick of demons; I always like the ghost episodes best. And actually, the next few episodes I saw after I listed my favorite side characters were of course... the ones where two of those characters die. I was pissed. I finally named them as favorites, and they're dead. At least Ellen had a good death, even though it bothered me it focused more on Jo at the end. But Anna? What the hell? She was obnoxious that whole episode, and then just died out of nowhere! Yeah, I couldn't stand her in that episode either, but I really liked her before then... ughhhh, I was pissed. And I didn't like Jo either, for the same indescribable reason. I was all happy when Dean kissed her forehead as she was dying, because it was like all siblingly instead of the creepy sexual tension they had, then suddenly he kissed her on the lips and I was like ugh. I don't have any favorite villains yet, because you know how rarely I get attached to villains, but I very much enjoy most of them for who they are. Thought Azazel, Meg, Lucifer, and many others were awesome.

Yeah, I guess that's one thing about Asgard; it's so different from the rest of the Marvel universe. And I read Marvel for that universe, so Asgard isn't what I'm looking for. And honestly I think favorite heroes don't always affect favorite movies. I like Cap way more than Thor, but I preferred Thor's movie. And I do agree that Cap would be the most likable in real life, but that's not always what I'm looking for in favorite characters. Like I think I'd hate Dean and think Sam was pretty cool in real life, yet Dean is by far my favorite compared to Sam. XD And I can understand why you hate Tony. Granted I feel like he embodies far less of that in the comics, but we are mostly talking about the movies here. I really agree with you so much politically, but I guess I don't really transfer many of my real life feelings to fiction. Tony is definitely a rich p***k, but it's what he does along with that rich pricktitude that makes him an interesting character for me. I wouldn't defend him or say he's fully right or anything, but I love him as a character, both movie and comic versions, though for different reasons. But yeah on RDJ, just... ugh. That makes me so pissed and sad at the same time. I could never possibly be the same to have an Avengers movie without him, and he's abusing that. It's obnoxious. And science and Congress and just ugh. I appreciate your rant and agree with it, but it makes me angry too. XD Guess that's why I try not to relate politics, beliefs, and social expectations to pop culture so much; I want to enjoy them as fantasy worlds.

I SYMPATHIZE WITH SPANDEX VERY HARD! I mean have you seen how much pressure it's under to keep them bulges and boobs in check? And it's always getting ripped up and riding up butts!

Totally agree with your Tim Burton assessment. His films are always either hit or miss, so we know he has potential, but he's too comfortable in his different world that he doesn't want to try anything different from his established different. It's weird that he doesn't want to take risks when all of his things seem like risks, but it's true.

Nightcrawler smells like sulfur and I love him anyway!

Morgey: It's not cheating. You're doing the assignment regardless, and it might be even better do do it with a stranger, since that will be the majority of actual work with patients anyway.

Er, yeah, explanation of statue duel. Noa was dueling Kaiba, but Kaiba was losing. Then he pretended to reunite Kaiba with Mokuba, but before they could hug he turned them to stone. So Yami Yuugi took over the duel to save the two, but then every turn that went by, Noa started turning one of his friends to stone too. He said that if he forfeited, he would turn all of them back except the Kaiba brothers and let them leave safely. By this point everyone had turned to stone except Jounouchi (and I think Anzu?), and Yuugi was going to give in to save all of his friends, because he was losing too, and if he lost they would be stone forever. But Jounouchi told him to keep playing, because he respected Kaiba's care for his brother, and he couldn't imagine how hard that would be if he was in the same situation with his sister (even though she was stone at that time). Noa got mad and turned Jounouchi to stone, but Yuugi felt heartened and got 'heart of the cards' help from each of his friends as he drew one card from each that turned the duel around.

And Quicksilver and Aquaman. They're just a riot to make fun of.

So my internet went out for several days *rage smash*. Anyhow it's happily back again now, I had internet on campus to do work and such, however as my time was restricted I didn't quite make it onto Gaia. Hopefully O2 won't do anything to kill the internet again in the near future.

Morgey: Well considering at some point in life 1-3/4-5 people (statistics vary, but around that) are diagnosed/diagnosable with at least one mental health related thing (sorry, I can't think of what would be a good word other than thing atm). Point being it's at least not too exclusionary, and it does make sense. I mean some people are really great who haven't personally experienced something like that firsthand, but it really requires more of an open/welcoming society for that to take place, and some places (even in the US) are less hospitable to mental health than others.

Ah I remember what you mean by statue duel now (though I'm sure once I scroll up I'll have a nice long Kits reminder razz ). I thought you meant something like they were dueling with statue monsters, which I didn't really remember.

What about Aqua dude, can I bash him?

Kits: There were a few deaths a few summers back (2006 I think) when the temps started pushing 130 in mid-cal, which doesn't usually get quite that hot. It's mostly the elderly. It's not fun/ideal, but yes those temps are survivable. Colds never made me feel like I wanted to be dead though, hot has, so I'm still taking cold, even if that means freezing fingers during gaming. Generally always put a space heater on if central heating isn't (when it's that cold) though. Heating isn't cheap either, but it is cheaper than AC by far (at least in Cali anyhow).

The first movie I saw in the new Batman trilogy was the second, which I think was the strongest in my opinion which is probably what had me leaning favorably toward it. I've never seen many incarnations of superheroes in films (and I've never been much of a comic person besides Johnny the Homicidal Maniac) where I feel the great plot or characterization anyhow. Superheroes are very theme driven, and of themes, I guess grittiness does it for me more than some of the other themes (such as honour and morals). I did think Raz al Ghul (and heck if I could spell it) was definitely a weak point, and I was disappointed to see a return to that arc in the third film. I love Nightmare Before Christmas, and quite enjoyed Edward Scissorhands. Corpse Bride is a bit on the downward trend for me personally, I didn't see it when it first came out and when I did it really just lumped in too much with other Burton films.

And yea, the statue bit was in there for about 10 seconds. They kind of glossed through the fact that that happened though I think.

If I go I will def send you some chocolate.

Yea season six has to do with Leviathans. But yea old style with better overarching plot (which I feel it's doing more now) is a lot better than the Leviathans, which had some really strong moments, but also some moments where it was really just trying and failing to outdo an apocalypse level threat. Yea the Jo/Dean moment was ugh, but I let it slide because she died. I think Anna ignored me before then, but yea I think in my memory she's kinda just sealed on 'that's who she is' and after all the 'rebel/freedom/choice' she seemed to cling to it seemed just hypocritically annoying. I do really like Meg, I've never disliked Azazel but he never did anything for me either.

As I haven't read Marvel my perception is heavily movie based. While Asgard is probably my favourite part, if I was looking in the Marvel universe for what it's supposed to be it definitely isn't it. I just don't generally usually look for that universe which I guess is why for me Asgard brings me into something I had no interest in. That and my bf really likes Marvel films. I agree with you on RDJ, that he is abusing how much he 'is' Iron Man. It's one thing to push for more money, but another to refuse to do it if he doesn't get it. Though again, this could be part of that push, and if he doesn't get the more money yet sticks with Iron Man once that fight is over I'll probably feel a bit better about him. I want to enjoy fantasy worlds as fantasy worlds, but I think that's why I like fantasy so much. It's so hard for me to separate out of 'realistic' worlds, so if I want the escape and the enjoyment I need to go into other worlds. I guess in the end those bits of fantasy, especially Asgard, is why I enjoy Marvel more than I probably would. It's also probably why I enjoy Iron Man the least, it is the most politically charged and that means it's in the best position to push all my buttons. Which can be a good thing, but does leave me not feeling quite as positive toward it as some of the other films.

Nightcrawler is my favourite X-men. razz

Woo! I am not alone in my Aquaman dislike. Though I'm not going to lie, I do like Quicksilver just a tad.

That sucks, but glad your internet is back now!

...curses, I walked right into typing out that reminder when I should've waited to see if you remembered first.

Yeah, I remember that summer. We had the same temperatures in AZ and probably a similar amount of deaths. And cold doesn't make you feel like you want to be dead; it just makes you want to sleep and never wake up. XD I can handle a lot of heat for longer than a lot of cold though. And still hate heaters.

I agree that the second Batman was best, but I also feel it was only the Joker that made it best. As far as plot went, I very slightly preferred the first one, which well... wasn't that great of a plot either. And the differences for me with themes like honor and morals versus grittiness, is that grittiness is an atmosphere, something related more to the whole world, where's morals and honor are traits encompassed by the main characters, guiding their decisions. That makes for a greater connection to the theme for me, because I can relate to the characters as they relate to the theme. And characterization is the most important part of a story for me. Also Corpse Bride was my least favorite of the three listed, though I still liked it. XD

Thank you for the possible future chocolate!

So in other words you didn't feel anything for Anna until she became obnoxious in her last episode, so that defined your opinion of her? Fair enough. And yeah, I agree she was completely hypocritical, and it was overall just fully out of character for her. I feel like that episode had a different writer than someone who wrote her in any previous episodes, and used her more as a convenient plot device (angel villain) than as her actual character. So I'll change my earlier statement to, "Anna before her final episode is my favorite side character."

Ah, well in terms of Marvel perceptions, just so you have an idea to go on, Tony is more conservative and responsible in the comics. He acts as Avengers leader for the most part (where's Cap is more like the field leader), he's constantly trying to improve their image with and work with the public, and he's extremely thoughtful and careful on his actions, trying to find the options that hurts the least amount of people. They got the 'party boy' attitude of movie Stark because he is still a playboy, but also a struggling alcoholic, and has forfeited his company and his role as Iron Man multiple times when he felt his problems were too bad for him to handle them.

Anyway, I've looked a little more into the RDJ thing, and it looks like, though he's definitely being a spoiled brat, Marvel is as much to blame in this situation. They've been extremely stingy with paying the actors in comparison to other movie companies. RDJ got so much because his contract was percentage instead of fixed amount, where's the other actors were fixed. Hemsworth actually got more for costarring in Snow White than he did for starring in Thor and Avengers though, so a lot of those actors are staring to follow RDJ's example. Not sure how I feel about that. It seems selfish of them all, but RDJ's specifically trying to help his coactors get better payed too. And it shouldn't have been so much of an issue in the first place, except Marvel started with the selfishness. And yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I just tend to let even more realistic and politically charged things stay in that 'fantasy' realm for me, as long as I have enough of the more fantastical things to offset it. To me, Iron Man had a great balance of mixing realistic and fantasy, so it felt like the superhero worlds I love, while bringing enough content I could relate to more easily.

Nightcrawler is my favorite superhero!

Um, well... actually, I quite like Aquaman. XD At least more than Batman, Superman, and the Green Lanterns. And Quicksilver is one of my favorite Marvel characters. I just also think they're super fun and easy to make fun of! By the way, according to Joss Whedon and his current draft of Avengers 2, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to be in the next one.

Haha, to be fair you remembered in much better detail than I did. I've seen the actual episode more recently than the abridged version, so I was quite likely to fall into the trap of confusing details.

Heaters do tend to smell bad. And I do like sleep. razz However, I've had to deal with extreme heat for extended periods of time, I've never had to deal with extreme cold for too long. Birmingham's cold spells are quite frequently interrupted, and I think there's never been more than a week at most of very cold, where CA has given me 3+ month streaks of too hot. So I definitely think my greater experience with heat is part of my aversion to it. I definitely disliked the sun a whole lot more when I saw it more often. xd

Yea I definitely don't think any of the plots have been strong, so it's more actors/characters that have determined how the movies have gone for me. Dent and Joker were both strong characters, whereas Raz al ghul was very very weak (though I did love Scarecrow, I thought Cillian did great with that). Characterisation is definitely the most important thing for me as well. The mania the Joker inspired did a lot more for me than the good vs evil that the first and third were heavily pushing for. I feel there wasn't much connection between film 1 and 2 and I think the third film went more to connect the plots in some sense, which I didn't enjoy - again as I didn't like the Raz al ghul arc. I mean there were parts of the third film I really liked and I felt it got worse and worse as it went along, until it hit the final plot reveal and I wondered if I still even enjoyed anything that came before.

You are possibly welcome. wink

I didn't like Anna until the last episode, I just really really didn't like her after it. I found her dull and preachy and had too much self-importance. Mostly it was just she's boring/she's slightly annoying and then it became 'what a backstabbing b***h'.

I think I'd like Iron Man a lot better in the comics than in the film then. I feel he lacks depth most of the time in the films, so when we get to the moments where we are supposed to feel his 'depth', 'struggle' and 'anguish' I just don't see why I should care.

Yea I knew Hemsworth got more for Snow White. I totally am not defending Marvel, they are definitely money grubbing. But I haven't seen too much of RDJ angling to help his coworkers more than his angling to help himself. I could totally see the other stars objecting to how unfair their salaries are, it's just RDJ kind of started bitching first and others started voicing up in response (many had already signed on and didn't really start clamouring it's unfair until he did, but some of them are already stuck and contracted). Frankly I honestly feel more for theatres than overpaid actors and companies. I mean they charge s**t tons, and that's b/c of studios and whatnot. Most of ticket sales do not go to the theatres that screen the films. Which is why concessions are so ridiculously overpriced, that's pretty much the only way they can stay afloat and pay employees. So it's hard to feel bad that RDJ is making only 50 million, or even that other actors are only making 6 digit figures when so many other people involved in the movie media busy (theatres is just one example of the equation) are paid next to nothing. That people sweeping up vomit and popcorn in theatres are generally paid minimum wage and don't have people clamouring to take their picture until they get so fed up they want to go hide on their private island. There is just way too much greed at the top levels, and Marvel is probably #1 douche in this particularly picture, but most of the stars are easily vying for number 2. I think when I'm more optimistic something like Iron Man would have more of a 'fantasy' feel too me. I've been too cynical the last few years, obscenely wealth man building a war suit seems all too possible. Mystical magic Nazi powers and Gods do not have possibility, so they are easier to just fade into and not get upset about.

Also I found out today I definitely won't get my scholarship and I'm still relying on loans to fund my PhD. So I can dig deeper in debt to pursue a career in education, which is constantly cut and undervalued. Somehow people making millions to prance around on camera and be famous, and just aren't happy with their millions (or okay, sometimes making more in a film than I am probably looking to make in 3-4 years at the height of my career) just does not make my heart bleed at all. Poor rich famous people.

I suppose Nightcrawler is probably mine as well if I think about it. And Marvel won that battle then? I know they were looking at paying hefty sums and putting in quite a fight to get the rights to have them in the film as they are co-owned with another stuido (can't remember which at the moment). Glad that they are adding more characters though. For me personally I find the more superheros the better. Probably why I like X-men, it's always filled with a wide host of vibrant characters. I suppose that is something to clarify. More is better so long as they are good characters.

I've definitely had to deal with more extreme heat than cold, but from the few times I've had the latter, I was desperately missing the heat.

I sadly could hardly connect to the characters at all either. Only the villains (and only a few of them) were interesting for me, but I need heroes to be invested. I do agree that the best characters were Joker, Dent, and Scarecrow though. But anyway, with the lack of good plot and the lack of good heroic characters, all that left me was villains and grittiness, and those are usually just icing on the cake for me. I agree about the lack of connection too; it felt like one and three went together, and two just kind of floated there, vaguely connecting to three, but only by the Dent plot point. There was a lot that the Joker arc could've contributed to for the third film, even without the Joker actually returning, but it didn't. The 'chaos' that Bane spread just wasn't the same as the Joker's brand.

Got it. By the way, I've seen episodes with Crowley now and one with Death, and I do agree that they are quite likable, so they're added to minor favorites list. Definitely Crowley at least. Death I thought was cool, but still don't feel I know enough about him to definitively decide. But anyway I'm on season 6 now. I've heard it wasn't as good as the others by numerous people, though so far I quite like it. Then again I'm only three episodes in. I really, really did not like the ending to season 5 though, and am so glad they continued it from there. The deaths just happened so easily, it felt like a cheap plot device to add urgency, but there was none because it was obvious the show wouldn't kill off all those main characters at once. And they didn't; the resurrection was also very cheap and lame. There was no happiness or relief behind it. And the whole final battle in the graveyard just felt surreal to me, to the point where I actually wondered if it was a dream or fake or something a few times. I also did not understand the whole Dean going with Lisa and Ben at the end. I know he liked the kid and slept with her once, and Sam asked him but... they really made it seem like it was his goal in life all the sudden, when I thought he had way more interest and chemistry with Cassie. It just seemed to come out of nowhere, not only Dean wanting to start a family with them, but Sam and Bobby apparently 'shipping' them.

I do feel Tony has more depth in the comics but is more 'fun' in the movies. I definitely feel for him more in the comics though. But I mean, just for comparison's sake, in the comics when the 'Civil War' happened (this was when the government wanted to register superheroes to keep watch on them), Iron Man was the one who supported the act because he wanted the public to feel safe, where's Captain America was against it because he felt it took away civil liberties. You'd almost expect it to be opposite in movieverse.

Agreed. Overall this just shouldn't even be an issue to begin with. Everyone is being greedy at a level where they have no need to be, and it's just ridiculous. It's too bad Communism doesn't work in practice, because it really is a nice theory, in a perfect world. It really just isn't right the differences in paychecks.

That is too bad to hear. Scholarships are so difficult to get. Are there any other potential ones you can apply for?

Yes, awesome! I just adore that character so much. I feel he is one of the most dynamic and deep characters in Marvel; he has such an interesting mix of personalities and interests. He's extremely kind and values all life, he's a trickster and prankster, he's a devout Catholic, he's a swashbuckler, he likes physical activity as much as he likes chilling and drinking... plus he's so diverse in his skill range. He's never the most powerful character around, but he's an acrobat, stealthy, has vehicle, technology, and medical skills, is amazing with sword-fighting, and is a blue devil who constantly smells of sulfur! Eehhh, sorry for the fangirl ramble.

But anyway, I don't think it was Marvel that needed to win that battle, but rather the movie studio that does Avengers. Those two are associated with the X-Men (owned by a different studio) because they're mutants and Magneto's children, plus they were a part of his Brotherhood of Mutants a long time ago, but shortly after they joined the Avengers, so they're more associated with them than Magneto. I didn't hear much about a legal battle, but heard that they were pretty much up for grabs by whoever got them first. However, it isn't official or anything; Whedon just said that he had a brother/sister act in the next movie. I mean, who else could it really be? Johnny and Sue Storm? They're owned by another studio too. I agree though, the more characters the better, as long as they're good. That is also why the X-Men is my favorite superhero franchise.

I do often tend to prefer villains, so I definitely don't need heroes to be invested. But yea Batman really had more hype than delivery. Bane served less as chaos and more as tool for plot twist, that was really annoying as well.

I don't think you'll ever know (at least into season 8 and still don't) enough about Death to really bother to remember to list him necessarily, but he does strike a cord for me. He's by far my favourite horseman at any rate. Crowley you'll get a lot more of and even when you don't think you should like him he's just so damn personable. The Sam thing is what pisses me off about Season 6 a lot, but I'm not entirely sure how mcuh of that is gotten into at the beginning so I won't say. He pisses me off though, and as my favourite character that annoys me. I think 7th is the weakest season for me though. The resurrections in general are getting old. In season 2 obviously it was a big thing, but now death is just not necessarily this viably big thing. At least not for the main characters. I also am not a big fan of the Lisa/Ben/Dean thing, I definitely would have wanted to see Cassie drawn out more if they were going to make a love arc for Dean. She's a better character and there is obviously implied background there. I mean maybe if they wanted to reveal Ben to be Dean's kid afterall, but barring that I just don't get the point. He's not the real dad, they are thus always removable, and they aren't an interesting investment. More of a ball and chain effect.

Civil War? Am I forgetting something or is this a reference to the third movie (I haven't seen it yet). I've seen every other film (barring Hulk) once, so maybe I'm just forgetting what was referred to as a civil war if it's not in the third Iron Man film.

Personally I think socialism is a good theory and much more ideally able to work in practice. Communism I think might work on small self-sustaining scales, not large ones. I mean yea, not everybody needs a big screen TV, and iPhone, though conversely, nobody needs their own private island. Their definitely should be less of a wealth gap b/c the amounts some people are paid for things is obscene. Teachers are exceptionally important to the development of people/society and clearly quite underrated and unappreciated. So we don't pay people 'fairly' to argue that at bare minimum socialised services are unfair. Models do not deserve more money than teachers. Lawyers don't deserve more money than social workers, health care workers, policemen, firemen, etc. So at the very least offering equal opportunities to healthcare, to education, to protective services is a reasonable minimum expectation. I mean the UK is a lot more socialised, though a lot of that is shifting right now so we'll see how much is maintained. Education has taken hard hits and healthcare is being debated. Canada is more socialised and they are much further up on the happiness index than the US will probably ever be, so are certain European countries like the Netherlands. We are so consumer driven. I think happiness should be a society's main goal. I think happier socities tend to be more productive, successful and economically viable anyhow. But we are too busy judging, killing, hating and competing with each other to be pragmatic and reasonable, and we suffer for it.

There aren't many scholarship options for overseas students. I could apply for this same one next year but I probably won't. Will look into whether there is anything worth the time it would take to apply, but it isn't very likely. Being overseas, being American (there are a fair amount of viable overseas options if you are say African or certain types of Asian), and being in the Arts all means there aren't many opportunities to begin with.

Haha, no apologies necessary for the ramble, I agree with it all. Oh I heard about the legal battle a year ago when the first Avengers came out and they were talking about hopeful characters for the sequel but the legal problems with certain ones who are owned or co-owned by other studios. Those two were one of most wanted characters that would potentially present the biggest legal challenge. In the end they actually didn't, I've heard other sources reporting that Marvel has secured the right to use these characters in the Avengers franchise so it probably is them Whedon is referring to.

Agreed; Bane was relatively interesting until the plot twist.

Welll, I'm over halfway through season six now. XD What can I say? I got a day off and couldn't stop watching. But anyway, seen Death in two episodes, and I agree that there's too much mystery around him to form a full opinion, but I do very much enjoy his presence, and prefer him over the other horsemen. They were creatively done, but not likable. And of course, right after I tell you Crowley is a favorite, he dies next. Ugh all my favorites. I can definitely see why you were angry about the Sam thing. He pissed me off too, but I didn't have enough invested in him that it took away from my enjoying all the other things. But once he did get his soul back, I was all giddy like, 'they kind of feel like the old Sam and Dean combo again.' The last episode I watched was the one that ended with Same suddenly going into seizure mode though, so not sure how long that's gonna last. But anyway, despite the annoying Sam plot, I am liking season six more than the end of season five, though still not as good as the previous four seasons. But yeah, when Dean first encountered Lisa, it felt like there hadn't really been anything more than typical sexual attraction between them, and he felt more connected to Ben than anything. She was kind of a b***h too, but then suddenly when he needs a 'convenient family,' she's all understanding and putting up with so much of his crap because she wants to be with him boo hoo. It was flat-out said that Cassie was just about the only real love he ever had, but screw her because she didn't have a convenient son for Dean to play father figure to. So to summarize, I think the ball and chain thing is a perfect way to explain it.

Ah, no, the Civil War is only in the comics, not movies. It's called the Civil War because it divided the superhero community half-and-half with pro-registration and anti-registration sides. The anti-registration heroes became fugitives, so the pro-registration ones were trying to capture them and they all started sending moles back and forth and fighting in the streets and such. I was just referring to it to highlight how much more conservative Tony is in the comics. Though I've heard they may make Civil War the plot of the third Avengers, possibly the second even. It was one of the biggest events in modern Marvel comics, and permanently changed teams and allies and such.

Yes, I like the idea of Communism best, but in practice Socialism is the way to go. At least the gap needs to be closed, and priorities need to be changed. Sometimes I want to move to Canada, but I don't think I'd be okay with the huge change in culture on a permanent basis, as well as the cold... too bad parts of Europe seem to be moving away from that though.

That's too bad to hear, but I get where you're coming from. Though I did have a few options and did get a few scholarships, only one was a significant amount, and that one was temporarily available to any highschooler who exceeded standards on all of our standardized exams required for graduation. They only had it available for three years, then closed it, so I got really lucky in that I was in the very middle of those three years and exceeded standards on everything. But besides that, there were hardly any fine arts scholarships at my school, and definitely none for white, non-religious females. I did apply for one LGBT one, but that came up with nothing.

That's awesome to hear; I really hope they're in it. Scarlet Witch is my favorite female Marvel character, and probably my favorite Avenger in the comics at least. Iron Man and Hawkeye come close though. And Quicksilver well... I like him a lot, and he'd be extra fun to make fun of.

I was very rushed to have Sam's soul back, and the fact that it was a bit like the old dynamic as well. Because of the fear of the wall collapsing that pretty much keeps up for quite awhile which I do like. Yea Ben is definitely why the series clings to Lisa and it's definitely annoying. Ben keeps getting more and more annoying as he gets older as well.

Okay, just making sure I didn't completely miss something in the films thus far. So is Tony pro-reg in the comics then? Because in some ways it's hard to see his film character (again unless something about the third movie that I have yet to see shifts this) aligning with that mentality as easily.

Communism has a lot of flaws, and basically would not work on a large scale without completely taking free will away (in an egalitarian system you aren't going to have people wanting to do things that are harder when they see the same outcome as jobs/responsibilities that are significantly easier). I think without people coincidentally all wanting different things and thus being able to fall into a communist system easily Socialism is still better in ideal than Communism. Just because it's more flexible. I think that's why Communism really can only be best as an ideal, it's not a system that easily can work with the separate and individual motivations and different people. Even if it works for one generation/person set, the next might be very unhappy/regulated into a system that wouldn't well fit with their choices. You also don't get as much innovation in a communist system because without any sense of a strong market competition you don't see the same drive and inspiration. I don't think a perfectly equal world would be ideal or interesting, I just think less of a wealth gap could still make most people happy and serve common interests better. Also socialism encourages more social mobility than capitalism does, despite the 'idea' that that's what capitalism claims to be for. I don't see where the drive in Communism is meant to come from, which is why it doesn't appear to be the most ideal system to me. Socialism has both a better semblance of equality (if not perfectly equal) and something to inspire drive. Of course people are greed bastards and even those in power in Socialist countries still keep driving toward Capitalism. People in power should not be the people with money, it just clouds judgment. The wealthy are primarily motivated by keeping their wealth, not by common interest. Politics would be more efficient if it was solely regulated to the middling levels.

Yea I applied for some scholarships during my undergrad but they amounted to nothing. There'd be more funding for graduate level if I'd stayed in the US but that's not where I wanted to be, research wise it doesn't make the most sense for what I want to do with my career. But that means I have to struggle on my own financially. I only have one PhD friend who isn't funded, she is American like me. I guess there's some consolation in not being along, but all our British friends have received funding. The couple that didn't get it first year have gotten it from second year on. So it's just frustrating that to get what I want out of my education I'm stuck being part of a system that excludes me from most funding schemes. Browsed some other stuff, and like with my undergrad there is a lot of contest stuff. But chances are low with those and I just don't know if it'd be worth taking time away from my studies for very unlikely options.

I was rushing about and didn't read the article yesterday, but I did see one titled 'Joss Whedon confirms Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver for Avengers sequel' yesterday, so I think you're hopes will definitely manifest. Rogue or Storm is probably my favourite female, but I do like both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, probably more than any of the other Avengers characters to feature in the films thus far (save for maybe Loki). So I would look forward to seeing them, and I wonder who'd be cast to play them.

Well that's just great to hear. I love me some annoying children holding the characters back.

Nope. And yeah, Tony is pro-registration in the comics. He was originally against it, but not as strongly as a lot of characters, but then a disaster took place where some inexperienced superheroes caused the death of over 600 civilians, and the mother of one of the victims came and spit in his face over it. After that he started working with the government in support of the act, and became the leader of the pro-registration heroes. He did such a good job that he actually became director of SHIELD afterward (replacing Maria Hill, as Fury had gone missing at the time, but Hill didn't do a good job handling the enforcement of the registration act), which was kind of strange. But I agree, he's so different in the movies, it seems strange to imaging him supporting the act. If they do the Civil War, it might be interesting for them to change things a bit and make Tony anti-reg and Steve pro. I'm in a tabletop game where we're playing out the Marvel Civil War right now, and we switched their sides in that to see how things would change.

Yeah, for me Communism is just something I like to imagine in a perfect world where people had drive for the sake of the community instead of themselves. But Socialism is more realistic. It'd be nice if the wealthy weren't always getting elected, and if they didn't get payed so much in political roles. I mean, they already get power. Why do they get money to top that off? It's too corrupting for that kind of position.

That sucks so much. That everyone except you and your other fellow American can get funding.

Ooh, awesome, glad to hear. Storm is my favorite female X-Man. I'm mixed on Rogue. I liked her in the movies a lot and in the 90's series she was okay, but she's obnoxious in Evolution and even worse in Wolverine and the X-Men. And in the comics she's just weird, like she doesn't have a set-in-stone personality or identity. She switches around between the obnoxious, selfish teen personality she has in the newer cartoon shows, to the flirty southern bell in the 90's series, to the quiet shy girl in the movies. I like the southern bell personality best, and she seems all awesome and fun, then suddenly she pulls some s**t where she gets all angry and dramatic at someone for no reason, and it pisses me off. So she would be a favorite if she would just pick a damn personality and make it one of her good ones. But as it stands, Kitty Pryde takes second place for my beloved female X-Men. And I think the guy who plays Draco Malfoy should play Quicksilver; he's older now so it could really work.

Survived my first conference! So I should be less poof, for a day or so.

Saw Iron Man 3 yesterday to recuperate, I rather enjoyed it, I can easily say I like the films in reverse order. 3 - 2 - 1. Be interesting to see what (if any depending on RDJ/if they'd replace him if he seriously leaves) the Avengers do with a Tony Stark leading off of the third movie.

I think that is the point I feel the strongest, power + money is a horribly corrupting position. There definitely should be some sort of divide, something to disable politicians from profiting off their positions, and passing laws that help their companies/personal economic lives. I mean the university system is crumbling under the corruption of bureaucracy voting their own salary. The power to legally control your economic wealth just seems immoral.

It does suck, met another American at my conference who goes to uni in Southhampton. She's not funded either. At least a mini club is beginning to form. Feels less isolating. xd

Yea Rogue does piss me off in Evolution, but while I adore Evolution I try not to too heavily base my opinions solely on that series as obviously it has a lot that is 'different'. Though I really adore Evo Nightcrawler probably more if not as much as any other incarnation. I most definitely love the fuzzy dude. I never actually got around to seeing Wolverine in the X-men, I really wanted to and then didn't, this actually brings it back to mind. I'll have to look that up someday. I guess my liking Rogue does very much depend on the film series as that's where I most like her. I actually do really like Kitty but I am not too familiar with her. X-men is one of the few superhero series where I know some of the comics but very little and quite jumped about, but I suppose everywhere she appears she is fairly consistent. Picking and choosing I like the Rogue that I pick, but I do understand that she isn't always someone that makes sense/is likeable. I def agree with you on the Draco thing though. Even going so far as to say 'Draco' rather than Tom Felton, I could really see that. That amuses me. But yes I think Tom Felton would definitely be a good choice, I really hope that somehow manages to work out, though I won't have high hopes of ever seeing that.
