The Chief got out of the building, wishing the folks with the tanks had waited till after they were out to start shooting it.

As they got to the outside Minerva wiggled herself down from Sean's arm, giving him a look of pure poison. "Don't ever grab me without permission again. I don't care to be hauled around like a sack of grain, thank you." She glanced around, "Does anyone know whose tanks those were?"

"I'm gonna take a step and guess they're ours. I don't much think the badguys would fire on their boss."

"You think?" Minerva gave a side look at the Cheif. "Let me rephrase, I want to know who is commanding those tanks so I can shoot him in the kneecap."

Jerhic chuckled, stepping out of his Hummer, shaking his head. "I am afraid that will not be necessary, Lieutenant." He said, walking over to the assembled crowd. "We had a run-in with the Soltari's forces outside the city. They then plowed the way open to the Industrial zone on the way here. Seems like one of the two had a change of heart."

Minerva glanced at Jehric, and gave him a quick salute as was appropriate, though she did consider shooting him for a brief moment. "Most likely Xeen, could never pin the b*****d down with one set of plans for more than five minutes. The angel and the rest with you then?"

Jerhic nodded. "Yes, but we were split up during a battle with a large pocket of resistance in the city. They will rejoin us soon."

Sahira backed up from the group quietly. She intended to sneak away before the Angel, or someone worse came on seen. It had potential to cause a mess and with the cavalry showing up she was more or less unneeded in the fight. She moved with light feet, making no sound, and turned down an alleyway unseen.

Das Steube Jerhic nodded. "Yes, but we were split up during a battle with a large pocket of resistance in the city. They will rejoin us soon." Minerva holstered her gun, slightly relieved. "No offense, Jehric, but you should keep a better hold on your subordinates. I didn't like Locke, but I didn't think he'd be able to pull off something like this and do it well."

After a moment of waiting, the rumbling bus pulled up near them, followed by a handful of troops and the Seer. Arch hopped out.
"Sorreh ihfn' ah kehpt yeh ahwl waitihn'." He said, walking up to the group.
/None of us thought he could pull this off/ The Seer commented on Minerva's past words. /It seems we have less favor among the people than might be thought/
"Thaht, ohr 'eh 'ahd theh nuhke cohdes. 'Ahrd tah arguhe wihth sohmeohne gahwt nuhkes."

"The people weren't the ones shooting at us, it was our own troops. Half of them were probably just following orders." She glanced around at the partially destroyed city. "I doubt the people will be favoring Locke again anytime soon." She gave a slight nod at Bobby, "and yes, we believe Locke had the nuke codes."

Jerhic blinked. "He's not a super."
"He was not one, until he decided he wanted to be rid of you and the Angel. Greed and fear makes people do... Terrible things. Such as Pure Energy Infusion. He's your city's variant of James McKinnley, only with nuclear weapons at his disposal. The citzens of the city are mostly gone. They fled for the war shelter where one of my lieutenant's traps befell them, and are now in Union City. Locke has this city and Union both under his thumb. As you know, he holds the little red button." Xeen said, stepping out of the void between worlds behind them, "And now, as odd as it seems, I need your help, and you need mine."

Minerva reached for her gun as Xeen appeared but as she listened to what he said she didn't draw it out from the holster, however her grip still hadn't relaxed. "You set a trap at the war shelter? And why exactly do we need your help?"
