Kilik shook his head. "I'll tell you. Mike sure knows how to battle hard and battle strong."
Koga scowled. His attack had failed, but in the process managed to let him know another one of the Crawdaunt's moves. Should he move with a stronger attack, he knew now that Protect would loom over. "Weezing!" he clasped his hands together then pushed them forward, "Attack again with Sludge Bomb!"
Once again, a burst of black sludge came from the Pokemon's mouth, aimed again Xanthos.

Agreed. Portabello said, nodding slowly. My master has come along way since I had the fortune of meeting him. Thinking back, the Breloom recalled his first meeting with Mike, when he was just a little Shroomish in the woods. He remembered that for such a little one, he caused a bit of an upset, eliminating all three of his Master's Pokemon. A subtle smirk rose on the Pokemon's face as he finished his trip down memory lane.
Xanthos was struck by the ball of grime. It exploded on impact shifting the Pokemon's position a few feet. He didn't complain, after all, he had a reputation to uphold. "Retaliate with a Surf, give him a little bath." He said playfully, chuckling at his Pokemon's rock hard demeanor.
Waving his claws in the air, Xanthos called forth a large wave which seemed to rise out of thin air. It churned and buckled under the force of gravity, aimed right at the Poison Gas Pokemon.

It wobbled once, twice...three times...
...PING. After a harsh battle, one that surely tested Anna's nerves, the Clefairy was caught.

Kilik laughed a bit to himself. "Seems you go a long way back with him, Porta." The boy ran a hand through his hair, his eyes widening slightly when he saw the Pokemon raise the massive wave.
Koga held his arms up in front of him defensively, which made Weezing tilt backwards somewhat. The Pokemon went with the flow of the wave, taking the damage yet lessening by a very small fraction at the same time. The floating Pokemon floated high up into the air and looked down at Crawdaunt, dripping wet.
The cuffs of Koga's pants became soaked, along with his toes (as he didn't wear closed toed shoes). A bit of the water in the waterfall's pool splashed out as well, having had a little too much excess. "Weezing! Use Smokescreen!" he called out. Black smoke began to billow out of the purple Pokemon without an objection or a sound. Both the Ninja and the Pokemon disappeared behind it.

"Oh, we'll have none of that." The boy wagged his finger menacingly. "Make sure he doesn't do that again, Taunt him." He felt a rush of adrenaline, he was actually collapsing the plans of a master ninja. Boy this feels great!
In a bit of uncharacteristic behavior, the Crawduant let out a grunt, waving off his opponent like he didn't even care. Xanthos turned his back on the foe, the effect of the spell made it so the Weezing could not use anything other than damage dealing moves.
Portabello said nothing, and only sat down, closing his eyes.

Anna and Nina stared at the Pokeball in awe and silence for a few moments. Then, a bright grin crept along the corners of the psychic's mouth, and she picked up the Pokeball.
"All RIGHT!" Nina squealed. "I did it! I caught Cle--!"
"Uhm, excuse me?!" Anna screamed, seeming to bare fangs that didn't exist. "I THOUGHT I MISUNDERSTOOD YOU. Did you just say that YOU did it?! I was the one up here taking all the beatings that that tiny little pink demonoid dealt out to me! And then you show up here at the last minute all 'RARARA I CATCH TEH POKEMON!' I was fearing for my life up here while the three of you were all frolicking around in Never-Never-Land, and-- NO. You put that Pokeball away! Nina, I mean it--"
Fearing for her own life, Nina recalled her temporarily insane Ghost Pokemon into its Pokeball, and put it wordlessly back onto her belt. "So. Ahem. Like I was saying," she went on, "I captured Clefairy! I actually captured her!" Nina jumped and down like she was bouncing on a trampoline, giggling like a schoolgirl. Rai stared at her with an almost confused look on his face while Whitney snatched up the Moon Stone. "Hay Ms. Overly-Caffeinated Insane Lady? You forgot this." She handed the luminescent stone to her sister, who, after examining it, pocketed it.
After calming down substantially, Nina and company headed out through the front entrance of the cave, after a bit more walking. Due to the fact that they were near an exit, Crater no longer was necessary as a light source, and Raimundo recalled him after thanking him for the help he had provided.

Koga growled again and then smiled. "Well, that's quite all right with me," he stated with a casual wave of his hand, "the crushing effects of my Weezing's poison have already set in and it's only a matter of time." Weezing growled lowly, staring at Crawdaunt through the thick smoke. He floated upwards and heard his master's command for 'Sludge Bomb' and complied with a large glob of the sticky substance.

Leaning back in on the bed a bit taken back by the girl he blinked a few times before frowning. "No you can't take him. And what were you talking about? Combination? I mean I get it but why is that so exciting?"
"What do you mean why is that so exciting?!"
"Umm... I mean why is that so exciting?"
Stephanie leaned over the window seal her green eyes narrowing as she glared at him. "A perfect combination like that would score you major points in a Contest!"
"Contest?"
"Yeah a Pokemon Contest! You can't tell me you don’t know about them!"
Dark eyes looked down at the white sheets confused. This girl was scary when she was right in your face. Glancing up he nervously answered. "No?"
"NO!" She screamed right into his ear. Getting out of the window, she was halfway in the room by now. She started pacing and waving her hands in the air. "How can you not know about Contests!? They are really popular! Soon Contests will surpass Gyms and will the main thing trainers train for! Arg!" Stopping she turned to Dante who was leaning out the window now watching her pace. "Ok, so you don't know. Then I am going to be the one to inform you!" Now she was leaning against the window one finger raised as if to use it as a pointer. "A Pokemon Contest is where people show off there pokemon. It has the trainer show that they and there pokemon are creative!"
"Oh... sounds boring." Dante said with a yawn.
"IT IS NOT BORING!" She screeched in his ear.

Xanthos' body was not faring well, the toxins inside his body causing his skin underneath his natural armor to bubble. Thankfully it didn't hinder his movements much. The resulting detonation from the Poison attack however, left him feeling a bit weary. As he heard his trainer call out for an Aerial Ace, he complied immediatly, swiping the air with his pincers. A surge of unavoidable energy homed in on the Weezing, hoping this was the last move he needed to make.

Koga watched as the energy connected with Weezing, directly in the face. It sent a small spark of pain through the Gym Leader's body to see his Pokemon damaged like that. However, he knew that Weezing's defenses would hold him up for one more strike.
Or so he thought.
The Poison-type wavered for a moment. His body was aching. With a final spurt of black smoke, Weezing fell to the ground, passed out. Nodding once, the man recalled his fallen Pokemon and walked it over to the healing unit. Placing Weezing's ball into one of the slots, Koga also removed the other three, selecting Venemoth's ball first. "Venemoth! I choose you!" he barked, throwing it with a flick of the wrist.

"So, you got yourself that Clefairy, Nina," Raimundo commented as the trio saw the light of day again. "Any ideas for a nickname for it?" The girl shrugged a little bit. "Ah, I don't know. There's... one that I've got in mind, but-- nah. Nevermind, it's stupid."
Whitney chuckled. "It can't be any worse than 'Pookie,' Nina. Seriously. So, like, what do you have in mind?" Taking the Pokeball from her belt and tossing and catching it a couple times, Nina blushed a little bit. "Well, Selene is the Greek moon goddess, but I think that naming her after somone that important is sort of cheesy. So, I was thinking... why not Serena? It's similar to Selene, and it still has a nice ring to it, I think."
Raimundo rolled his eyes a little bit, and smiled. "You thought that was a stupid name? Nina, it's very nice. You need to stop doubting yourself, whether it be in a Pokemon battle or naming your new catch. You really aren't that bad, you know." Whitney nodded. "What he's saying is like, one hundred percent totally true, Nina. Really! It's like, you keep weighing yourself down to like, believe that you're not as awesome of a person as you really are." Raimundo looked to his friend, a bit concerned. "Yeah... why do you keep being such a tough critic on yourself?" Did-- is there something that happened that made you start thinking like that?"
Nina was quiet for a few moments. "...S-sorta, yeah. Something happened."

"I've actually kinda discussed this with you already, Rai," the girl said. "I think the bulk of my self-doubt started to surface after Sabrina was killed." She was surprised that she didn't flinch at that sentence, and that she was even able to say it without hesitation. "I felt like... like I wasn't a good enough person because I couldn't save her. Then, when I went after Giovanni to get revenge on him, even in my moderately psychopathic crazy lady state of mind, I still couldn't do anything!"
Nina paused, looking down to the ground for a second.
"I thought that when I inherited the Saffron Gym that the challengers I'd get would be unprepared idiots, and that crushing them would make me feel better about myself. But, clearly, Kilik and Mike proved me wrong." She sighed. "I... I got to call the shots of how the battle went. I could have said, 'Oh, no evil shiny green bugs' or 'No colossal silver snakes of doom are allowed to participate' but I still lost-- to both of them! And the worst part of all was that I don't think either one of them took me seriously! After having come from such a horrible situation of watching my own sister taken from me, and not to mention getting attacked and nearly killed myself by a Nidorina... Well. Let's just say that you don't bounce back from those types of things very quickly, and even the little things, like losing a Pokemon battle, can seriously have an impact on your character."
She shook her head and sighed, looking at Serena's Pokeball in her hand.

It felt good to get some praise. It always did. "Thank you," Mitsu said with a light smile. She had had the wrong first impression of the fiery gym leader and was glad to at least correct her mistake. In a flash of red light the mighty Gyrados disappeared into his Pokeball and Mitsu was down the hole that she had entered.
In a matter of moments Mitsu was out the door and headed towards the red roofed PokeCenter. It was always a welcomed sight. "Please heal up my Gardevior," Mitsu said handing over the Pokeball to the pink haired nurse. "Of course," she replied taking the ball and disappeared into a door that Mitsu assumed lead to the room where the Pokemon were healed.
Once that was settled she too a seat at an empty computer. Flicking open her Pokenav Mitsu dialed Touya's number. "Touya?" she asked.
"What now?" he said. A sigh could be heard on the other line.
"Mind if Nightmare stays with you? I don't want to leave him with the Prof."
"Send him over," he replied after a moment of thought. "And only this once."
Click he had hung up before she had a chance to thank him. Mitsu kissed the Pokeball and said a small goodbye before placing the sphere into the machine. It disappeared and had arrived safely in Touya's hands.
Quickly she logged into her account in the PC and withdrew her Horsea from Professor Birch's lab. With Haku's Pokeball clipped into place and Karri retrieved from Nurse Joy the young trainer stepped outside. "All done," she said satisfied.

"No, no its not!" He waved his hands defensively. "I just don't understand. I am sure that if I saw them I would agree with you." For some reason he got the feeling that this girl would beat him up. Not that in his current state that would be a very hard thing to do.
Smirking the girl crossed her arms over her chest clearly satisfied. "That’s right! Plus they are great training. Gym battles are a breeze after I finish training for my contests." She bragged before showing off her three badges."
Looking down at them Dante blinked a few times. This girl had three badges? Maybe this contest thing wasn't such a bad idea, after all he did need to get a lot of training in. Looking back up at her interested in finding out more. "So what do you do exactly in these contests?"
"Well I am glad you asked." Looking back she saw that Viney, who had recovered some and was entertaining Levi who was sliding down his petal's. "Hmm Viney still seems a bit hurt." She said with a frown before recalling him. The Venusaur disappeared in a red light causing Levi to fall to the ground since there was nothing else to support her. "Now to call out the only pokemon of mine you didn't kill." She glared back at Dante and he winced slightly. "Lets go Pika!" She called out. In a flash a Pikachu appeared, the flash seemed to have been done by the Pikachu itself. "All right Pika! Lets use your Double Team!" She called. Immediately a circle of Pikachu's appeared, all of them doing a twirl on there foot. "Ok now Thunderbolt into the sky" Just then all of the mirror images of Pikachu used Thunderbolt, only the real one used the actual attack. In the center all of them collided and created a great big almost light bulb sun thing. "There we go! See that’s how you make an appeal to the judges. The four with the best appeals will make it to the next round. Then they do a battle, but it has to be a graceful battle. Its timed and you have a certain amount of points, if your pokemon faints or looses all of its points then you lose. You also lose if you have the lowest points at the end of the time limit." Stephanie explained in a very teacher like manor.
"Huh... sounds complicated..." Dante mused to himself. "So um where are these contests held?"
"Oh you thinking of entering? Well you need to register in Saffron first. They should explain some things there." She glanced down at Dante's pokemon. All of whom were kinda dirty and muddy. "Plus I would give them a bath. A good one to... Plus you should use some pokeblocks on them! That would be very helpful!" She exclaimed clearly excited.
Looking at his pokemon then at Stephanie's exquisitely groomed Pikachu he felt slightly embarrassed. "Umm thanks for the help. You should probably get your pokemon healed."
"Oh gosh! You are totally right!" She exclaimed! Skipping off she waved goodbye at him. "Thanks for the battle old man!"
Growling Dante shouted back. "I'm not old!" Falling back into his cushion's he pouted a bit. Kenny who had watched the whole thing came over to lay next to him. These contests did sound pretty fun to him. Plus it would be a good time for his trainer to recover. "I’m gunna call Mitsu." He finally pouted out. Kenny just rolled his eye behind his skull mask. His trainer could be really immature at times, he was just glad he didn't do it in public. Picking up his pokenavi he found Mitsu's number and hit send before waiting for her to pick up.

Pressing the button on Haku's Pokeball Mitsu let the Horsea have some fresh air. He had grown the last time Mitsu had seen him. "Long time no see!" Mitsu giggled poking the Pokemon slightly in an affectionate way. Delighted to see his trainer he squirted a stream of jet black ink into her face and then blew some small blue bubbles. "Seaaa!" he trilled happily.
Ring! Ring! The sound of her Pokenav had startled her. Mitsu caught her breath and wiped the ink off of her face before picking it up. She looked onto the screen, a bit surprised not to see Touya's name on there. She had been expecting a complaint for her overly cuddly Gyrados that she had sent over only a mere few minutes ago. Opening the device and holding it to her ear she spoke, "Hey Dante!"
