What did he think he had up his sleeve?
Actually, another Negation attack, this one even bigger than the last one.

Ryugi had gotten just enough of a reprieve to be ready for another Negation. It would tire him a bit, but not enough to cause him to be at any real disadvantage. The blast would serve to encompass the dragons as they went underwater, the energy sweeping over the form of the creature as it had its other half. Would it work?

Time would tell.

What has proven effective once is reason enough to believe that it will prove effective again. Any accomplished fighter knows that if they don't learn from their mistakes they will face defeat, and that if they don't learn from their successes then they will never improve. The dragon, being a mindless undead, did not learn from it's mistake... and thusly it faced defeat at the hands of Ryugi Kazamaru, whom had learned from his success.

The dragon lurched up in the water one final time; stretching out the one remaining wing and dragging at the Ragnarok with the claw that was tightly enwrapped around it. It lurched forwards suddenly when the Angaran swung his Sol blade, as if it were trying to counterattack but much too late... and as the aged bones fell to pieces and crashed down like a wave upon the rocks below, the undead unleashed it's final revenge...

...a boot to the head.

"ORRRRYAAA~!" The shout was just like the ones out of cheesy kung-fu flicks when a mysterious gi-clad chinaman slammed their heel through a board, or a wall, or a tree; the difference being that instead of a gi-clad chinaman it was a dark skinned man in ripped up jeans, and instead of kicking through a board the Reaper came flying through a storm of antimagic to crack the Angaran across the jaw.

There are many things that can be said about learning from your past mistakes. One of them is never to assume that others won't do the same thing.

Ow.

Where was the lifetime supply of ice cream when you needed it?

And while the Reaper would lose his momentum after crashing into Ryugi's mostly stable body, Ryugi, or at least his upper body and head, would get well acquainted with the wall opposite the cavern. Ryugi would then land on the ground and pop his jaw back into place, which hurt like a mofo. Lucky for him he had a hard head, or that would have hurt alot more than it did. He was also lucky he didn't have a glass jaw either. Though he wasn't going to be chowing down on any supremely crunchy foods for a while.

Bananas and shakes ftw.

With no more momentum behind his running jump off the back of a skeletal dragon, Joshua landed as gracefully as someone who had just done that could; more or less where Ryugi had been standing a moment ago.

"Pay attention," he said, almost angrily as his torso spun and a hard elbow was delivered into one of the bones behind him.

"You're focusing too much on the opponent in front of you," he added in a similar tone; twisting the other way and slamming his forearm against the next bone down to drive it backwards.

"And now... you're all alone."

With a swift kick, he slammed the last of Burnheart's knuckles against the sharp edge of Ragnarok; wedging the bones onto it and breaking the joints. With the force that Ryugi had slammed it into the ground before, and the bones that had wrapped themselves tightly around it, freeing the sword now would be one hell of a task.

Ryugi grunted and started moving back towards Joshua and Ragnarok.

So what exactly is the point to all of this? You attacked me with a dragon's skeleton, and then kicked me in the face. And all of that after I wanted to know what effects this transformation or birth of Ragnarok would have on me and Ragnarok itself during battle.

Ryugi had a bit of a headache, and all this fighting was getting him nowhere. All the battle had gotten him was a headache, and now he was minus his sword. Something that he hoped to rectify quickly.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2007 7:55 pm

"So why don't you give it a try?"

The Reaper drew his sword in his left hand and held it up behind his head; casually pressing the flat of the blade against the back of his neck while his hands hung from either end of it. A slacker pose if there ever was one.

"Your sword is alive... whoop-dee-doo," he added in a mocking tone. "If you want to learn something, you need experience. How the hell would I know what your sword can do for you? Ask it yourself, kid."

Even though Ryugi had been separated from the sword, that did not mean anything. Though ethereal, the form of Ragnarok was still present beside them observing the battle. It was not merely an extension of himself that stopped as soon as his hand left the hilt; Ragnarok was every bit alive with or without him, and it had been waiting for him to instruct it.

"What can it DO!? You're dense, kid. Like a fuggin' ROCK." The Reaper spat on the ground in front of him before letting his right hand drop from the blade edge and swinging the sword down on his left side in a usable grip. "You'll never find out how it can help you unless you get it to do it."

Maybe I wouldn't seem so dense if you'd just give me a straight answer.

Ryugi didn't bother waiting for the Reaper to spit out another comment about his intelligence, and instead charged in towards him and Ragnarok.

I'll get my sword back, then the both of us will find out what we can do!

The Reaper stepped forwards with his left foot and raised the sword directly in front of him at the advancing Angaran. The form was almost leisurely; not at all like he was bracing for a charge, but certainly firm enough to run the swordsman through if he kept going the way that he was.

"Oh? Did you grow some balls just now?"

Balls have nothing to do with it.

Flame energy shot along both of Ryugi's arms as he charged towards the Reaper and Ragnarok waiting behind him. He'd get his partner back. There was no "if". He'd get the sword back or die trying. He wasn't going to abandon Ragnarok here, lodged in the remains of its last enemy.

A taunting smirk was the reply.

The dust and bone chips strewn about the ground began to move away from the Reaper as the air started to move around his outstretched arm.

And then, Ryugi closed, his arms brimming with energy as a right punch shot directly towards the Reaper, sword or not. Ryugi's left also wrapped in flames trailing down by his side.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 25, 2007 8:53 pm

And so the Angaran bore down upon the man who held a sword between them, refusing to let a little thing like pointy death stand between him and his property. Wreathed in flames the Angaran clenched his fists tightly and struck. Standing defiantly the Kar'tukian readied his sword.

...and the tip of it dove towards the ground, rather than striking. Accompanied by a savage blast of wind like an erupting geyser that blasted against the impetuous swordsman who had charged in so valiantly. No matter how fast his legs might be, when the air slammed against his body and tore him off of the ground no amount of running would keep him from being send flying away from his precious Ragnarok.

That was where he was wrong.

Ryugi had charged right through it.

The energy that had gathered around his hand was of a certain type that was used for a number of things. One of which was plowing through things.

Around the fist the energy had gathered and molded into a shell of sorts over the hand, creating a gauntlet of flaming energy that wrapped around the fist and the forearm entirely. As Joshua's newest eruption flared up, the 'gauntlet' that had been created shifted into striking form.

Slamming someone with a raw mass of energy was crude and childish, not something fit for a high caliber fighter to do. True skill is refinement, not simply flailing about and hoping that something works. True skill is technique, not simply a bull rush. In the moment before it struck, the energy around the fist fired off like a rocket from behind and molded a piercing force ahead.

The energy flared out like a wedge, driving a rift in Joshua's blasting wind attack even as the force of the blast sent them both skyward into the darkness above the Clockwork Purgatory Burnheart's Cave. With both the added force of his own energy flying into the strike and the fact that Joshua's attack was designed specifically to send him skywards, Ryugi's little gutshot had turned into -

"SHORYUKEN!!!"

However, with the gut shot now being an uppercut, it would be at an angle that would drive the blade-like wedge that had formed ahead of the punch straight into Joshua's chest, underneath whatever protection a breastplate might offer.

Of course, the Reaper wasn't wearing one like Ryugi had been. Or was he?

Excuse me, while I kiss the sky~!

...except that it hadn't been a gut shot...

...and Ryugi hadn't been going in low...

It was a close approximation thereof, but it certainly wasn't the original and this was no Clockwork Purgatory. This was a frozen hell. Ryugi had charged in with a flaming fist and a good six feet of distance between them, not close enough for a short motion punch and still even a stretch for a lunging straight. The eruption beneath him pushed him upwards from there, rather than his own attack being the driving force behind it. As a result the Angaran Dragon Punch was a little high for the solar plexus... with the help of a sudden lean, it flew right over his left shoulder.

There would be no stop-motion counter. No split-second movement that sent Ryugi's erupting punch straight into a waiting fist. The flaming rocket skimmed scarcely past its target... and the Reaper moved his head into Ryugi's escape path.

Ryugi had a hard head, and by extension, a hard face. Joshua's headbutt would hurt, but it wasn't going to stop him from getting Ragnarok back. Ryugi's left arm was still back at Ryugi's side, and as Joshua's head connected with Ryugi's, the left arm shot ahead and shot a massive shot of energy directly into Joshua's chest area. It would carry the energy that had drained away from Ryugi's failed right punch as well as its own energy, and even more that Ryugi shunted directly into the shot as it connected close range, pile-driving and drilling its way into the Reaper's body with force that would generally pulverize or rupture one's internal organs.

Ryugi knew from experience that Joshua was no simple nut to crack, and thus, poured as much force and power directly into his squishy bits as possible. He wasn't going to let this chance to strike him and do some damage go by idly.
