The other servants were whispering to each other, not knowing what had happened to Terryn or the other two men. They had no idea that right below them, very indecent things were going on.

Marcus had woken the next morning a little bit before dawn, feeling fantastically hungry and having slept on a bench. He supposed that his little visit would be all the better; Terryn would be groggy in the morning, and he could say hello and goodbye and leave without much notice. He unlatched the coach from the horse (he didn't want to wake the sleeping coachman) and began to ride towards home.

Terryn was more than groggy. She was still unconscious. While she had been asleep thanks to bludgeoning, they had made up a nice little concoction, thanks to an alchemy book in the library, that kept her sleeping while they had their so-called "fun". By the next morning, they had left, but she was still laying there with a head wound and not much clothing on at all.

Marcus tethered his horse and slid off the horse. The air was full of electricity and something else, and Marcus could feel the hairs on the back of his neck prickle involuntarily when he looked into the bedroom and couldn't find Terryn. It prickled again when he checked the library, and he became frantic, rushing into the doorway of every room and shouting her name before checking the next one. When he found her, he nearly keeled over, wishing fervently that he hadn't found her at all.

Meanwhile, the awful little lecher had followed him around, growing more and more nervous. "My lord...are you-oh...oh dear." He placed his hand over his mouth, pretending he had no idea what was going on.

Marcus took no heed of him but to swat away occasionally, and he appeared at Terryn's side, first covering her with his coat before siezing up her wrist. She was still breathing. "How did this happen?" he asked his host hollowly, lifting Terryn very slightly and tapping her in hopes that she would stir.

He shook his head. "I have no idea. I was out on business yesterday, so I saw nothing. Perhaps one of the servants?" He had no problem selling out anyone, as long as his skin was saved.

Marcus glared at him, still trying to get Terryn to wake up. "We will not stay here any longer," he managed, not finding any suitable words to express his anger. "Fetch Terryn's clothes immediately, and call a physician."

He bowed and turned around to leave, a smug grin lighting his face after he left.

Terryn groaned, her head killing her and her stomach feeling very nauseous. She was only able to whisper "Marcus..." before going under again.

"No, no, Terryn. You mustn't fall asleep again," Marcus begged, squeezing Terryn's hands. "Stay up. And get a damp cloth!" he bellowed towards the door, before shifting Terryn to a more upright position. He was full of questions, but first things first. He needed Terryn to be alive.

Terryn slumped forward as he tried to make her sit up. Her head fell limply, her hair falling around her face. She couldn't open her eyes, never mind speak coherently, but she was able to squeeze his hand back ever so slightly.

Marcus brushed her hair out of her eyes, casting a worried glance at the door. What on earth was taking so long? Carefully, tentatively, he lifted Terryn's jaw, trying to get her to straighten up. "What hurts?"

Terryn mouthed something silently, her voice caught in her throat. She coughed and winced, leaning over onto him. "Everything..."

That was helpful. Marcus nodded towards Terryn, not knowing exactly what else to do, and he took on all of her weight. It was about this time that the guilt began to settle in his stomach. "Will--will you be alright?"

Terryn shrugged, clinging onto him weakly. "I suppose. You can go back to work if you would like."
