Artemis sighed and looked right at Christopher. "Yes, Christopher. It is in fact the Devil. El Diablo, Lucifer, the fallen one. Your choice. But they are all one and the same, and you attacked him with his own scythe, Kafziel. That's why you were about to be executed if I hadn't intervened." He caught Christopher as he fainted.

Ilandere had fallen asleep again but Themba could not. The new revelation of Ilandere’s choices kept him wide awake and thinking. So much danger was now involved and if they hadn’t been in the middle of it before then they had just jumped from the frying pan and into the fire. What was he going to do? He knew he needed to support Ilandere, she seemed more fragile then ever at the moment. But he didn’t want to support her in something that could ultimately be the end of them. It was a tough situation.
But first thing was first, they needed help.
Themba had asked Ilandere for something to write with and on giving the excuse that he was loosing his voice and should he want to say anything he would just write it down. Truthfully he had needed it to send a message to someone. He knew Ilandere wouldn’t allow him to because of their situation but he couldn’t deny that they were stuck and needed someone to get them out because if they tried to do so themselves the consequences would be dire. Plus, Ilandere would never agree to it, she had made a deal and one she regretted.
But what would he write? He didn’t know where they were at the moment, so that wasn’t good. He didn’t even know who to send it to. That was the first challenge – figure out whom to send it to. He searched through the few names he knew and their territories for he would be able to sent the note through his ring. He was quite surprised to still have it. Ilandere had mentioned a few names to him when she was explaining things. One he recognized was Artemis. He had arrived on Zadaa just before . . . well, just before certain painful events took place. He would send it to Artemis.
Now what would he write? Not much. He barely had very much control of his hands at the moment anyways. With a small bit of thought, Themba began painstakingly scrawling out a note in handwriting that was nearly impossible to read and with words left incomplete.

Themba slipped his ring off and rolled onto his side, facing away from Ilandere. He was able to cover up the light and sound with his body and he carefuly dropped the note in.

"Well Artemis I'm sorry that after the day I had I should have thought that I had the Devils scythe I Mean it would fit right in with all of the stuff thats going on...So who keeps the scythe now?"

Artemis sat down on the dusty floor and said, "It all started ten years ago when..." Then his pocket twitched. He pulled out the Traveler's ring, and it grew and deposited a note on the floor. He put the ring back and quickly glanced at the note. "No time. I just got a note...from Themba?! Ilandere is in trouble. We need to go." He got up and dusted himself off. He picked up the scythe and motioned for Devon and Christopher to do the same.

Ilandere opened her eyes blearily and looked to her side. Themba was there, sleeping soundly next to her. How she had missed him. She had lost him and vowed to him, to herself, that she would never do so again. That was a pain she never wanted to feel ever again.
Pushing herself to her feet tiredly she went to a window and looked out. They were on the opposite end of the Rokador city in a nearly hidden area. She knew that this would not be a safe place for much longer but they wouldn’t be there much longer. They were to leave for another territory as soon as the moon passed through the night sky and the sun lighted up the surface world of Zadaa.
The door on the other side of the room creaked as someone came in. She turned to see the gaunt features of a Rokador – the disguise Saint Dane was currently taking on.
“We must leave soon, and very soon.” He said.
Ilandere shot him a questioning look and replied, “But we’re not supposed to leave until morning. Themba is not ready for it . . . nor am I.”
“No, we leave within the hour. We are not safe. Your little traveler friends are still here and it’s only a matter of time before they find us.” He said angrily, “There here for you. Damn fools won’t leave without you.”
Ilandere stepped up to him and shook her head, “We can’t, not with the way Themba is. Either way we’re going to get stopped up by them and if we leave it will just be sooner than later.”
“You’re not in the right position to be compromising, I remind you.” The demon spat, “You will do what I ask without question.”
“I will not!” Ilandere retaliated, “I know what I’m doing. We stay!”
Saint Dane lifted his had to strike her and shouted, “YOU DO NOT DEFY ME!”
Ilandere took the blow stoically and merely turned her cheek as it was hit. Saint Dane’s yelling was so loud that Ilandere didn’t doubt that half of the quiet city could hear him. Silence rang in their ears for a few moments before sound was once again introduced.
“We leave when I say so.” Saint Dane said sternly, stepping out the door, “Be ready.”
The demon slammed the door behind him and loud footsteps could be heard echoing away. Ilandere took a deep breath and touched her cheek. It stung under her soft touch and was already bruising. Shaking off the pain the young girl looked back to the window and leaned against a wall.

Christopher noticed Artemis notion for them to come with him.

Artemis gave the note to Christopher as they started to head back to the city. He looked around as they entered, in case Saint Dane laid traps for them. "Okay. Saint Dane is sure to know that we're still here, so he'll leave. Very cowardly if you ask me. But it makes it easier to find them. We need to set up a perimeter. God, I sound like an army man," he whispered as he looked around every corner of the roads cautiously.
