Theme and Variations Everything will be okay in the end; Hear_DB: I know! There just aren't enough composers who write melodies for low brass, except sometimes euphonium, who always seem to have the coolest parts... There's a good amount of trombone melody in jazz I suppose if you really want it. I don't mind playing harmony parts though, I like the chords we make.

if it's not okay, then it's not the end. you're right, euphoniums do always get the coolest parts. as tubas though, with the music we've played we've gotten the melody a few times. British Eighth march had the best melody for us tubas. =D At least from what I've played. My BD kind of likes to take advantage of us as a five person tuba section. xD

It's got a solo in "This Is Halloween," a soli, and melody in "Beetlejuice."
Oh, and I mainly play tuba and sousaphone. I started euphonium and arching baritone, though.

if it's not okay, then it's not the end. Jazz trombone has a ton of fun stuff! Not always melody, but fun stuff. Like solos! (I'm not sure if that would be considered melody). I don't think we've ever played a concert piece with a trombone solo, but we have plenty of solis!

if it's not okay, then it's not the end. I play the tuba too and I know what you mean. I have one song for the tuba called beelzebub that is really good. You can listen to some kid play it on youtube. He doesn't play it very well, but whatever. 4laugh
