((Since noone will say yay or nay to spending most of our gold...))

Thorifin went to the man at the desk, purchased the Belt of Hill Giant Strength, and swiftly equipped it. He then grabbed the small halfling by the collar of his robe and pulled him from the store, seeing the greedy gleam in his eyes. "Off to the Underworld," he stated, leading the way to the destination, since the elf had gone ahead.

Kal felt himself tugged away from the store and saw it was the self-righteous Dwarf. He grumpily followed along, having little to no choice.

The current time is 1 p.m. on the 21st of Autumn's Grace.

The group slowly re-convened outside of the gates to the Underworld. A large host of dwarven soldiers were present, weapons drawn and poised in a defensive stance, prepared for any new horrors to erupt from the darkness.

The dwarven commander nodded at Thorifin as they passed by, offering a short salute before returning to his post.

In moments, all light had faded and there were no torches, no braziers, no comforting glow of any form of brightness. The shadows were impenetrable. This truly was the Underworld, only those with the ability to see in the darkness or those who did not rely on sight at all could survive down here.

Some of the group began to worry as they could not even see themselves as they crept along.

"Here, I have something for each of you. These berries are from the forest, they will grant your eyes a weak form of thermal vision. It is how my kind and those of our deep elf cousins see within the darkest of places."

All players now have temporary heat vision.

Thorifin lead them to the dark tunnels, nodding once to the commander at the recognition, out of respect. He then turned to the Elven lady once they were in the darkness, knowing she was the one that was going to lead them down here. He began to reach for his holy symbol of Murgoth around his neck to pray for light amongst this darkened path, but then she offered the natural resource of some berries. Thorifin knew Murgoth would rather him use the natural resources of the land and save the blessing for a battle, so he accepted the kind offering and ate some of the berries. He saw red heat signatures from bodies and cold blues on walls and other things. Even then though, they were faint signals and seem to only barely escape the darkness. He turned to the elven body signature and nodded in acknowledgement of being ready to head out and in appreciation for the sweet gesture of help.

Kal smiled at the darkness at first, but then dropped the happy demeaor when it became pitch black. He wasn't scared of the dark, in fact, he usually loved the dark. But in this instance, it was forboding for him. Creatures that lived down here did not focus on sight as thier main sense, therefore, his specialty of vanishing in front of his enemies eyes didn't help down here. They focused on other senses, which made his job more difficult. He ate a few berries and then began to head toward the front of the group, only stopping beside the elf for acknowledgement of his skills for trap detecting. He knew she would lead the direction, but he would watch for traps. He was feeling very competitive right now beside the elf that was also proficient in his skill.

((Is letting Kal know that stuff about creatures that don't use sight godmoding? I figure he lived in the city, so he dealt with dogs and the like, so I figured he might know this stuff... but... Idk...))

Tjaden chewed the berries almost mechanically. He felt almost like he was being pushed into the darkness by a will not his own, for he immediately disliked being down here. However, the world above was in turmoil and if he had to trek for days in the preternatural darkness, he would have to summon the courage to do it.

"I know we march toward an organized defence, but their are also wild creatures down here as well. From which, do you think, we stand in the most danger?" Tjaden asked, the question directed to their guide.

Erron glanced at the berry skeptically, he wasn't too well versed in herbalism, aside from knowing which leaves are good for....finishing and which weren't. He shrugged and tossed one in his mouth, chewed a bit and swallowed. Within a few seconds red blooms began to emerge before his eyes, it was rather strange but at least he could make out the cavern walls and some of the nearby party members. He looked around a bit while listening to Tjaden's question.

"I have a feeling that while the wild things that live here aren't exactly going to be friendly, if a sentry spots us and alerts the enemy, we will soon find a much more difficult foe than nature intended." He said softly to avoid making an echo.

"Perhaps we should send out a scout to make sure we just don't stumble upon them," Selce said quietly as she looked around the would with this new type of vision. She would have liked to examine the berry's further but now wasn't the time.

"Ahh I've just the spell, a magic eye that will make no noise as it scouts out ahead for us."
Selce cast Wizard's eye to aid in the scouting.

Tjaden nodded. It was a small thing, but the knight could handle the wanton bloodlust of a wild animal with a sturdy response. However, if they had to deal quietly with an encounter with an enemy, Tjaden was not the most skilled in stealthily dispatching opposing forces. He stalked along brooding this eventuality.

Selce's conjured eye whisks away down the dark tunnel and enters an empty cavern. The area was very smooth and even as if much of it had been carved by hand.

Three tunnels lie ahead.

1-3 The area is clear
4 Ambush

Result: The eye discovers the room ahead to be clear and void of enemies.

Kal nodded at the eye idea, knowing that was the safest route of exploration. Then followed behind the eye's path as soon as it was known to be clear. He saw the blue coloration of the walls leading to three tunnels. At which point, he turned back to the group, more so to the elf lady and Thorifin. "Which way?" he asked them softly, since they were the experts down here.

Thorifin turned to the elven woman at the fork in the tunnel. He'd been deep in the tunnels, but this was slightly farther than he had ever gone. Usually the dwarves weren't stupid enough to follow the dark elves all the way back down. They were smarter than that. Following the dark elves would mean ultimate demise since they knew their land better than any dwarf ever would. He politely waited for a response for Kal's question, which he would have worded more politely, but Kal's wording got the point across.

((It has a post or two left in it, assuming it doesn't get destroyed))

The elvish woman glared from behind her blindfold at the halfling.

"I cannot say. These tunnels were not here the last time I ventured this far down, only one was present on my last journey. Due to obvious reasons, I cannot tell which of these is the original tunnel, as the topography of this cavern has changed... The only manner that I could tell would be after we entered it and found the subterranean river that is a decent trek away, sadly even my enhanced hearing cannot detect the movement of the water for some reason..."

Tjaden frowned. He did not like the fact that the elf's senses were being confounded. His first thought was of arcane trickery but it was a wild assumption based on prejudice.
"I am no tracker, but is there any sign that one tunnel has been used recently or more often than the others? If we know so little about any of the tunnels, that may be the most likely path to choose." Tjaden suggested.

"I cannot determine which is the correct path, but yes, I can determine certain characteristics of each of the tunnels."

The left path seems to radiate a small amount of heat as well as the distant reflection of light.

The center path seems the darkest, but there are markings on the walls, impossible to decipher by anyone in the group.

The far right path emanates a faint scent of pheromones and sweat while no sounds can be heard.

Tjaden hurrumphed. It sounded like an angry hippo clearing its throat. The Orc considered the words of their guide.
"sweat and pheromones speak of something wild. Its territory is marked and it relies on its natural abilities to guide it through this place. Creatures which hunt in the forest often mark their trails with scents. This creature may do the same. If we follow that, we are more likely to run into a wild animal." Tjaden said, peering down the respective tunneled. His head then swung around to the far left tunnel.

"Light could be generated by civilization. However, for anyone to feel heat being generated this far from an apparent source indicates a high temperature. This could indicate the path leads to a natural occurrence, such as a volcano, if it smells of sulphur. That way provides a curious enigma, but not one that is most conducive to the completion of our quest." Tjaden said. He paused a moment to consider the tunnel, wondering where it led to. Then he pointed at the center one.

"Only a creature of intelligence would mark a trail with symbols, especially those which do not have a easily decipherable meaning. However, we have no way of knowing if this denotes a trap or a safe passage. Either way, I would vote the center path to be the quickest, even if it is the most dangerous." Tjaden looked back at his comrades and arched a questioning eyebrow.

"I will see if the path is safe with the eye, Though note. I'm not that good at spotting traps so there may be some." Selce sends the Wizard's eye to scout out the center tunnel.
