Yes...I seem biased.
But they actually WERE stupid. They claimed they knew our plan the whole time and had been listening in to our radio. When we weren't using radios. We had in fact been listening to them, then blocked a whole bunch of channels by taping down the buttons and playing the radio. Not only this my section commander had seen their little observation post in the woods across from our gate, and had us all wave to them.
They may have thought this because they DID - KIND OF surprise ONE section. (My section, but we came up with a back up plan pretty fast) We were approaching their F.O.B from the woods beside a road and they had a section across on the OTHER side of the road just sitting in the woods. We had actually almost passed them when they must have heard us. They didn't come out of the woods, and all just shot till someone reminded them they had limited ammo.
I was unfortunately leading someone who was night blind. (Who had initially been in front of me until he told me he was night blind and had lost the people in front of him). And the two people who had been behind me originally.
The night blind guy had actually fallen down at one point and we were like 30 feet back behind our platoon. We were supposed to come to a clearing at some point and although we couldn't see the rest of the guys we knew where we were going (vaguely) . When the shooting started I basically just dropped. Cause my section way in front of us was probably out of range and I didn't want the four of us to give them away by trying to shoot it out. Plus I had no idea what their numbers were since we were out of sight pretty much the whole time. They'd never known where we were exactly and dropping put us behind the level of the ditch and out of the line of fire.
MEANWHILE.....
We had THREE people sneak into their F.O.B. (OVER THE BARBED WIRE FENCE IN THE BACK) and get to the tower. (They used my red rifle cleaning rag to cover their epaulets in red so they'd match ^.^ ) These three people shut off the lights (controlled by the tower) shot everyone IN the tower, got to the officers tent, 'captured' the platoons warrant (who actually delegated his kidnapping to someone of a lower rank). This lower ranked person was then forced to drive one of their own vehicles to the front gate (our staff couldn't drive their cars, it was a rule) where we had an entire section (of people) within their entrance, we stopped the truck, the section picked up the CHAIR our sister platoon had been were using to SIT down while guarding the gate. They loaded it into the truck and took off.
Back with my guys .... We just froze there for about ten minutes. When I say froze I mean DROP to the forest floor, freeze, you can't see us ha ha. sweatdrop thank god.
We heard them on the road TRYING to be quiet (it's gravel ppl) -essentially looking for us -when the truck with the stolen chair drove by and they realized their F.O.B had been ..well....what's the best word here.....breached? Totally and completely compromised? Left unprotected while they shot at 'nothing' in the woods?
So they high tailed it up the road, and as my guys couldn't see (it had gotten way darker), I just basically waited till they were too far away to do anything (not that they looked back) and led my guys out onto the grassy part of the ditch until we were snagged by the members of the other part of our section (they'd come out on the road coming from the clearing and were watching for us - they figured out we were missing after they'd gotten there.)
Our section commander (the dude with all the explosives) decided we'd switch our side of attack, as he'd gotten a radio request from another section commander. So we went from the right side of their F.O.B to the left by actually walking in the woods behind our section 1 who was attacking their (still open) gate with smoke/rifles. THEN we took up position on their left side, (to which they weren't paying attention at all, as the gate was where the scary smoke was) and started using the rest of our ammo and flashy things on them. They ran in straight lines, stood up behind their firing positions were overloading their firing positions. DIDN'T know where to shoot. Shot EACH OTHER....in their attempt to get to the left side. I'm pretty sure I saw people fall down while they were running. It was a good time. They had their lights turned back on so it was easy pickings for us.
When we pulled out. They had random fire teams running around, completely unguided. For example I saw TWO in a row come running up the road take kneeling positions and shoot at us as we DROVE AWAY.
Yes. I'm sure they accomplished many a kill shooting us in the back.
Ahh memories. I did mention my sister platoon had about half the people we did right? We were like a mound of ants. ALL OVER THEM. The suckers.

Where total domination rules the day o.e boo yah.
But yes, it was exceptionally fun. Pretty much the only fun we ever got to have as a group. And thus memorable.

There is a great story that took place at a Civil War reenactment down on the Gulf coast. Sometimes at reenactments the reenactors will have a battle just for themselves, and not for the public like normal. Well that was what was going on. The two sides had decided to have an early morning battle before the sun came up. The battle site was thick coastal forest. The two forces manuvered and attacked at feinted and whatnot, but what makes this story unusual and memorable is that right in the middle of this a unit of Navy SEALS come on shore. They are expecting to encounter resisting forces(training forces). They hear gunfire and return fire, but when they hear a 200 rifle volley they don't know what the H ell is going on. Eventually the three sides get things in control and the reenactors take the SEALS back to their camp and treat them to breakfast. This story has been going around for quite a while in reenacting circles. I have no proof one way or the other about whether it happened, but I like to think it did.

So on a change of topic, I was looking for this book online, (have been for ages now) and found out that basically no one's producing it anymore. SO I googled and found this web page by the author, and she'll send me a NEW copy of all of her books!
Granted there is a mail strike going on right now, so I can't get them until that ends. But yeah. Maybe next month ^.^
