Cassie forced a smile. "It's noth-" she winced again. "I'm still not fully healed is all." she admitted, her head dropping as she leaned back against the wall.

"Did you forget already that i saved your neck... or rather your back?" she asked with a smile. she looked past him staring into space. "I- I think that he's changing... my father i mean...he hasn't beaten me for a long time and its like... he's tying to take care of me but he doesn't want to show it..." she said quietly and thoughtfully.

Cassie shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know...." she said cluelessly.
The doors opened and Derek walked in. he looked at Cassie, hiding his concern with a frown. "Are you alright?" he asked but didn't wait for her answer. he placed a hand on her head and then walked behind the curtain. he came back with a syringe and injected the clear fluid into her arm. "That should help." he said, throwing the needle away.
"Thank you...." Cassie said. *Daddy.* "Do we have any cards or something?" she asked him.
Derek nodded and pulled a deck out from the lamp stand drawer. He tossed it onto the bed. *Have fun.* he thought. "I've got some work to do but don't push yourself to hard. You still need rest."
Cassie nodded and Derek left the room.

"Aww cool! Cards!" Julius said with a smile as he picked the deck up. "Hey....you wanna see a card trick?" he asked with a big playful smile.

Julius smiled and pulled four cards from the top of the deck. "Okay see, I have four jacks right? You saw me pull the from the top of the deck..." He smiled and placed all the cards back on the top of the deck. "Alright now I'm gonna separate these four cards okay?" He took only three cards from the top of the deck, and he put each card in a random part of the deck. "Now watch this..." Julius dealt four cards face down. He flipped over the first one, it was a jack. "How much do you want to bet that the other three are jacks?" he asked.
