"No," Shane said. "She'd never be better off without you! You've saved her life, so you don't always cause trouble! Never talk like that again, you got that?" This would be a good time for Hope to stop thinking like that before Shane got even more angry.

Hope looked up to him. He wouldn't understand, he didn't know the story. So she shut up and looked ahead.

Shane could tell he'd upset her, and he felt bad. But right now, they had to help Faith, and Hope was being counterproductive.

Hope stopped and knelt down on the ground. She moved some grass to reveal a strange symbol.
