The end of the week found Halmir, Donovan and a group of over a dozen ragamuffin children, half of them asleep and the rest of them nearly so. Some of them looked as if they were going to fall off their horses, but the older children were holding the younger children on so that they wouldn't fall.
Aliya happened to be out in the yard with Feng and Ryu with they rode in, and she beckoned to her new friends excitedly to come with her to see them all.

Feng grinned as she followed her brother and Aliya to where the children and of course Halmir and Donovan would be.
"He's back," Feng murmured, "And wow... quite a number of kids."

Donovan was grateful to be back, though he made a note to get someone less scarier than Halmir to come along. Not that the guy was bad, but let's face he. They were more or less terrified of him first and then of Halmir.. at least Donovan assumed it was him first being human and Halmir just for the scars.
Still they were back and it was over.
Meanwhile, Lin who was hearing all the commontion was giving Saki the kitten who was about the same size as her last minute instructures. She had been trying to teach Saki how to be.. well a good kitty. Like being good at brushings and letting herself be pet and stuff like that.

When the children saw Aliya, their eyes lit up with hope, and though they looked wary at the sight of Feng and Ryu, they were glad to see friendly-looking people.
"Aww, they look so needy," Aliya frowned sadly. "Come on, let's go get them." And she ran up to the closest of the horses and took a child in her arms.
The boy threw his arms around her neck and hugged her so tightly that she had trouble breathing. He sniffled as if close to tears, but he held them back and asked in a squeaky voice, "Are we safe?"
"Of course you are," Aliya soothed the boy quietly, stroking his head calmingly. She looked up at Donovan. "Welcome back," she said softly.

Feng bounced up to one child trying to not be frightening as she scooped her up and cuddled her the only way Feng could.
"Hi Donovan," Feng grinned up at the man as her brother went to help some of the children out of the cart.

Donovan dismounted it had been a long trip, "Thanks," he murmured to Aliya, "And hello to you too Feng."
He stretched a bit as it had been a long ride, of course this relief was cut short with a loud.
"DADDY!" a dark blue and black blurr shot out of the house.
Granted at Lin's side there was quite a bit of delay between her calling for him and her slamming into his leg and grabbing a hold of it seeing as it was the only part she could hug at her height.
"Up!"

Halmir climbed down from the cart, but rather than turning to the children he headed off towards the barracks.
"I'll send Elros and Celeborn," he told Aliya as he passed her - and then he was gone.
Aliya suspected what had happened. Though she herself didn't mind his scars, even she realized that children would probably be frightened by him. She felt sorry for him ... but there was no time for that now.
"Help me get the children down," she murmured to Feng and Ryu. "Careful ... some of them look injured ..."
She set the little boy on the ground and patted him reassuringly on the head, then set about getting the other children awake and on the ground.
The child in Feng's arms cuddled against her chest.

Feng nodded as she pecked a light kiss on the girl's forehead before setting her down to help with the other children. The ones that did look injuried depending on how bad, Feng would hand to Ryu to take back to the Ranch house if it looked like walking for them would be a problem or they couldn't move.
There weren't many who were like that but there were a very small number, though even one child in that sort of state was one too many.

Donovan sighed as he bent down and picked Lin up cradling her like he would baby instead of letting her sit on his shoulder. Since would it would allow her to hug his head, which was something he didn't want. Like Halmir, he didn't move to help. He wasn't that good with kids, and he couldn't really ease the children like the way Feng and Ryu could.

Amdir was over in the training pen with a horse, but when he saw Halmir and Donovan returning, he decided to head over and help out - especially when Halmir headed off right away.
Of course, he walked a little slower than he perhaps could have, watching Aliya with the children and smiling to himself without even realizing it, but he did get there within a few minutes, just as Feng, Ryu and Aliya helped the last child off the cart.
"Need a hand?" he asked, noting that some of the children were having difficulty walking, either from injury or sleeping legs or feet.
Aliya looked up at the sound of his voice and smiled brightly. "Yes!" she exclaimed. "Come help us take them all inside, I don't think Elrohir or Haradhel know they're here yet."
And she scooped up a child in each arm and started towards the house.

It was a good thing the children were light as Ryu took one of the more injuried children while Feng took two like Aliya did.
"Hmm...." Feng looked around.
Donovan was still out here with Lin, but there should be more people coming.

"I'll still be here," Donovan told Feng.
It would allow the two to start taking children in, he wouldn't leave the kids alone without someone to watch them. And he was sure he couldn't traumuze them too badly by just watching at least he'd hope that wouldn't be the case. Not to mention the Elros and Celeborn should be here soon... he hoped.

Amdir checked the remaining children. All of them seemed able to walk easily, but he picked up the smallest of them anyways and piggy-backed her towards the house, shepherding the others along ahead of him.
"How many total?" he asked Feng, following her to the house.
Elros and Celeborn appeared from the direction of the barracks, but by the time they arrived to Donovan, all of the children were already on their way inside.
"Still need us?" Celeborn asked Donovan innocently, clasping his hands behind his back.

"Uhm..." Feng thought about it as she watched Ryu walk away with the one child, though he needed someone to open the door for him since he was using both arms so not to jostle this one too much, "Twelve I think."
She hadn't counted in the beginning but that sounded about right.

Donovan raised a brow as he turned to the two, Lin was waving happily from his arms.
"Probably, it looked like a few were quite injuried and help might be needed to get them up the stairs," he explained, "Might as well come along just in case, since this is the first batch."
And one never knew what might happen.
