"Well, I was just askin'!" Celebor pouted; and for the rest of the way to the mountain, he didn't say a word.

"Here we are!" Daeron announced after a while. He knelt and put Lin on the ground in front of the first step. "Go ahead," he grinned at her. "We'll let you go up a few steps before we start after you."

"Ah!" Lin grinned as she more or less tackled the first step, but she wiggled up it, making sure to get a good grip before pushing herself up.
She kept thinking, it was as if she was getting out of the small basin of water like a bathtub. Just jump and hoste one's self up, one slow step at a time.

Celebor looked way up towards the top of the mountain, but to his complete and utter astonishment, it was almost out of his view.
"That's a long way up!" he exclaimed, his determination faltering for a brief moment. It passed quickly, though, and, suddenly filled with a fresh determination to get to the top of the mountain, he surged past Lin and bounded up the stairs, taking them two or three at a time.

Daeron was slightly alarmed by Celebor's sudden surge forward, and, staying behind Lin, he called out, "Celebor! Slow down! You're going to tire yourself out quite quickly that way! Besides that, I don't want you to slip and fall. If you go slowly and carefully, you're more likely to make it to the top in one piece!"

"I forgot how excited Celebor gets," Lin replied softly as she watched her nephew more or less run up the stairs.
Though she did also think taking two or three steps at a time was pretty bad. She couldn't fly and it was a long way down to her. No... going that fast wouldn't be fun at all.

Celebor stopped and waved back at his cousin and aunt. "I'll be okay!" he assured them. "I'm careful not to fall anymore! I'm real good at not falling anymore because I used to do it so much!"
And he turned around and started up the steps once more.

"He's still going up pretty fast," Lin mumbled, "Thank you for staying with me Daeron."
Indeed the part of her not being able to get up the mountain didn't seem to click with Celebor, she was glad there was at least someone watching her. Otherwise she would be in trouble.

"You're welcome," Daeron smiled at Lin, despite the fact that she was looking the other way and wouldn't see. "And don't worry about Celebor, he'll learn the hard way that it's not falling that he needs to worry about. Has he ever done anything like this before? I mean, climbed anything this big?"
That would explain why he wasn't worried about conserving energy.

Celebor was still climbing happily, though he had indeed slowed down to only one step at a time. He was using the opportunity to practice his counting.
"One two three four," he grinned to himself. "Five ten fifteen twenty!"

"No, but he swims a lot does that count?" Lin asked.
She paused for a moment even at her pace there were times she still need to catch wind. Since it took up more energy, that and she had to stretch so she wouldn't become stiff. She didn't like stiff, though it meant the bathtub which she liked. Once she was done stretching she lifted herself up on another step.

"I'm told swimming is good," Daeron agreed hesitantly, "but ... I've never had the chance to try."
He could see though how it would help with arm muscles ... and neck and legs and pretty much everything else, too.

"Neither have I, but Celebor likes the water. He hangs around Feng and Ryu a lot and they go swimming together," Lin explained.
Now that she thought about it, learning how to swim was on her to do list.

"Feng and Ryu?" Daeron asked curiously. "Who are they?"
He kept close behind Lin, watching her carefully lest she should slip and fall.

"Oh... well..." Lin paused between mid lift before fully lifting herself up onto the stair, "They're my older brother and sister, they're twins and mers. So they're always in the water unless they want to get out."
