Yugi looked mildly surprised, then shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe he just needed some time to himself?"

Yugi didn't have a response for this, and jus held Kawi tightly. After a little while, Atem came back, with Khalid in tow. Khalid had no marks showing from his previous pummeling. Atem was still furious; Khalid's head was bowed submissively. Atem apparently hadn't given Khalid much of a chance to talk, and chose to do this now. "You did something to Ember. The doctors don't know how to stop the bleeding. Fix this."
Khalid cringed slightly, looking away. "Her insides pretty much imploded. For a mortal... I don't think anything can be done. I aimed to kill her, not just hurt her."

By the time atem got back yugi had got kawi to calm down. Hearing this kawi startedsobbing agian burring her face into yugi's chest.

Yugi shot Atem a glare, but Atem was too busy being angry with Khalid to really notice. "I wouldn't have done anything if Kawi had just given me Kai when I asked! I didn't do anything to him, and everything would have been fine!" Khalid snapped, getting angry right back at Atem. "It was just a test. I wasn't the cause of any of this!"
"You weren't the cause? What the hell do you mean, you weren't the cause?!" Atem exploded, feeling like hitting Khalid again. "You were the one who went ape s**t! You attacked Ember! And Kawi and Yugi! For a test? What the hell does that even mean?"

Hearing her best friend was going to die just made kawi continue to cry and cling to yugi.

Yugi hugged Kawi tightly, as Atem continued with Khalid. Khalid grew quite distressed, something that was rare for him, and started to cry as well, which was even rarer. "I wasn't even in control of my own body!" He exclaimed, his voice muffled because he was covering his face with his hands. "I didn't want to hurt anyone! I'm sorry! But it wasn't my fault!" Atem just let out a low growl and stalked away.

Khalid looked up gravely at the two. "She will die. All mortals must, sooner or later. I am sorry if she dies earlier than what was intended."

Hearing this Kawi started crying more. Ember and her had been friends since they were little and they were like sisters. Thiswas starting to get to be too much for her. She had gotten over kiras death but she dident think she could handle another.

Yugi shot Khalid a dark look, trying to comfort Kawi. It was hard to think of something to say to her when he was in agreement with Khalid. He didn't know what could be done to save her, if it was as bad as what Khalid said.

Kawi aftera while had cried herself to sleep. She rested silently in yugi's arms.

Yugi hugged Kawi, feeling depressed. He hadn't had time yet to cry, but knew that that would have to wait. Khalid sat next to him, and Yugi didn't really mind that the murderer was right there. At least he was quiet.

A doctor had come up. "Oh... Are you withher?" the doctorasked yugi. "I would just like to inform you that miss.ember is being brought into sugery. there hoping to find what is causing the bleeding."
