Wolffy000 procrastination girl wow, japan, you are located in ********. the umbrella monster is part of ancient folklore? you was some WACKY ancient folks, homies. totally looking forward to the new takashi miike movie tomorrow night. he is the AMBASSADOR of ********. (department of gory hilarity) Because little people that steal your teeth and a rabbit who hides colored eggs and candies are normal. Lest one mentions leprachauns (or any form of imp/fairy/brownie/etc.), Chupacabra, Cyclops, Minotaur, Satyr, and so on. People, regardless of century and culture, have pretty ******** up mythology. ok, everyone's mythology is weird, true, but how can umbrella monsters be ancient folklore? umbrellas aren't ancient.

i think i'm going to need an agreed-upon metric for ancientness. how long ago does something have to be to be deemed ancient? are we talking caves, here, or does it just have to be historical?

Just because you think of modern umbrellas doesn't mean the concept isn't old. I've used bamboo leaves as a (rather serviceable) makeshift umbrella before. The desire for shelter isn't exactly new. Umbrellas came into use roughly between 1700 and 2400 years or ago, with a likely possibility of it being older. It's also used in many different places, examples being in China, Egypt, and Greece. And it's common in mythology for spirits to possess or imitate common household items. Since things like that are seen so often, stories often pop up about incredible things involving them, usually evolving into things like the Karakasa. Still though, I think a few millenia and a number of fallen empires is a pretty good measurement for antiquity. Hell, with the advance of technology at the rate it's advancing, it's not too far fetched to think of events as far back as 50-100 years being considered antiquated. Since the way of life is changing with the implication of newer technology, thats usually the start of a new "age". The metal ages, eras of enlightenment, steam age, and so on.

I wonder if there is anywhere around here where I can get some decent yakisoba?
I know there is that pho place down the road, but I've had pho enough. It's good, but I really need some greasy yakisoba with pork and carrots, and maybe some green onions.
Why is it all the white people I know are obsessed with pho and bubble tea? I don't get it

Goddamn whipped yogurt. All you are is a lie - when I stir you to get rid of the icky texture, I only have half as much yogurt as I did before. So why are you more expensive than other yogurts? You're just a cheap wannabe yogurt! =(

...good lord, I have to start packing up all my clothing. ALL MY CLOTHING. Which wouldn't have been so bad at this time last year, but somewhere in the past ten months I morphed from dorky little me with practically no clothes to wannabe preppy me with tons of them.
I have had way too much sleep and not nearly enough food in the past few days, and I have no idea what I'm saying. When is he coming home? I miss him. I want cheese.
