Yuki suddenly flushed brightly herself, releasing his hand and awkwardly stepping back. "Ah, gomen nasai... I... I didn't mean to... to make you uncomfortable...."
She fidgeted for a moment, before jumping and quickly checking on a few machines to make sure they were working.
What better way to avoid the subject?
Kazuhiko nodded. "And I can open two portals." he reminded. "He doesn't know that yet either. He doesn't know about any of us kids."
Eara flushed deeper, but wouldn't look away from the window. "You can't make me. What if I told you your behavior in there didn't deserve any rewards? Or what if I told you I already did with that little kiss back there?"
Kazuhiko smiled at Sam. "I like them too... the colors are pretty... I like overlapping them." he decided, giggling.
He was starting to paint on himself.

Watari's gaze turned back to the woman. "Yuki-san..." he whispered, though his voice was too quiet for her to hear.
With a small sigh, Watari wheeled the chair over to a cabinet.
"I need to check on Aled-sama and Shiori-san. Make sure Shiori-san's alright..." he glanced to Yuki. "And I can get myself to Aled-sama's room without help, Yuki-san. I promise. And it'll only take a few minutes."

"Which is certainly a good thing..." Ashuri replied with a slight smirk.
But Po-ar was a bit more worried, "And if something happens to you all?" the Ouji asked. "Kazu-kun, you and Bright Eyes-san and this Sam-san you have told me of... you're all children... you shouldn't be put into this position to begin with."

Kazuhiko shook his head. "We're saving Okaasan. They tried to outnumber us, so now we have to outnumber them. If we work together, they won't be able to stop us." he insisted. "Just wait. I promise."
Yuki glanced over, the initial hopeful reaction muted to a point. "Hai, hai.." she nodded, busying herself with literally whatever she could find.
With all the work she'd been doing, that was getting to be a bit difficult.
She didn't know what to say to the scientist, but she felt close to panicking herself.
The awkward silence in the air was too heavy to move. Words were jumbled by the time they came to her mouth....
She didn't understand why her heart hurt so badly; it wasn't broken.
Anxiety was a likely answer.

"It's not the stopping us I'm worried about." Po-ar pointed out. "It's you getting hurt, Kazu-kun. You or your friends."

Nodding, Watari put the objects he needed on his lap, and wheeled out of the lab.
"Yare yare..." he whispered to himself once he was far down the hall.
It was going to be a long day.

Yuki waited as well until he wasn't in close range, stopping everything she was doing and closing her eyes. "Yare yare...." she whispered, holding her head in her hands. "Yuki-chan, nani shiteru...? Na-ni shi-te-ru....???"
She slid down to sit down on the floor, leaning against a desk quietly. "Na-ni shi-te-iru..."
(Nani shiteru = what are you doing)
Shiori in the meantime had spent the past few hours talking with Aled, slowly starting to warm up to the man.
Like Yuki, Shiori was equally shy when it came to advancing. Insulting was one thing, but romance was another field entirely.
Yuki herself was a bit more forceful in the romance area, but couldn't insult a single soul. It just wasn't in her blood.
Funny how they both had only found luck now.
"In your defense, I suppose you aren't THAT much of a pansy." Shiori decided, smiling up at him. "And truthfully, I do enjoy your tea."
Kazuhiko shook his head. "We're too fast. Fir and Auntie Eara and Momma Badb will keep us safe. Worry about Okaasan instead." he urged him. "She misses us.."

It was at about this time that Hapushi returned to the lab, having gotten a tad bit of sleep.
"Yuki-san, daijoubuka?" she asked, seeing the woman sitting on the floor. "Wata-chan, doko desu ka?"

"Who doesn't?" Aled asked with a smile, pouring Shiori another cup.
The Ou stirred his tea for a moment, looking down into the liquid.
"I was hoping to speak seriously with you for a moment, Shiori-san... Po-ar-kun once mentioned to me that Earth medicine is highly advanced in some fields... some far more than our own. If you were to go to Earth... would you mind terribly if I accompanied you?"

Po-ar nodded, "Wakarimasu ne..." the man whispered.
Oh yes, he knew Morrigan was missing them.
He could feel her every moment she was conscious now.

Shiori nodded. "I would prefer you do." she admitted quietly. "I've never left the planet before..."
It wasn't something she was exactly thrilled about.
"And maybe I won't like the next cup." she teased.
"Eh?? Oh, daijoubu, daijoubu.. Just a bit tired." Yuki brushed it off, smiling quickly. "Watari-san went to check on Shi-chan and Aled-sama."

Aled smirked, "That hasn't stopped you from the tea so far." he spoke kindly. "Watari-kun and Yuki-san will come as well, since they need to observe Earth's methods... I wouldn't dare think of leaving you there alone."
Especially with Fir...
Oh yes, the Ou still hated him.

"Honto ni?" Hapushi asked, sitting down on the floor beside Yuki. "It seemed to me, Yuki-san, that you were in the middle of having a nervous breakdown."

Yuki shook her head. "Daijoubu, daijoubu..."
She still was. She could feel her heart racing at a hundred twenty beats a minute, her chest tightening through her anxiety attack. "I think I just got a bit ahead of myself, is all." she started to stand up, relying heavily on the countertops to keep her knees from buckling. "I'm really no good in stressful situations, Hapushi-chan.."
Shiori nodded. "Good..." she moved to sit closer to him. "And that's because I was being polite." she teased, before pouring herself yet another glass.
"How long before I'm cured do you think?

"But what happened?" Hapushi asked, helping the woman to stand. "I mean, you were so genki and cheerful earlier..."

Aled shook his head, "For that, I have no answer. It could be quickly, or it could take months." he was ignoring her slight teasing banter for a more serious conversation with the woman.
Well, to a certain extent.
"You know, if it takes too long, you'll have to endure my tea everyday." he smirked.

"Gah!"
Opening his eyes, Watari found himself laying on the hallway floor, one hand clutching his chest as if in great pain.
In fact, he was...
But it wasn't the wound.
'Glad to know you're not alone ne, Watari-kun?'
"A.... ao... ki..." the scientist whispered, in too much pain for the moment to really talk.
Sadly, he was in a deserted portion of the palace, far from Yuki, and only about halfway to Aled's rooms.
'Going to check up on the Ou, hmm? I wouldn't advise it. Something terrible may happen to him.'
Watari closed his eyes, simply thinking his reply, too exhausted and hurt to actually say it. 'Then I'll tell him. They will know you're here.'
'Ah but then that could lead to harm to that lovely little assistant of yours. Yuki-san, is it? I heard her while you were sleeping, Watari-kun... the girl's madly in love with you.'
'Urusai!' Watari demanded.
'Doushite? She thinks you're cute. Doesn't mind that no one knows if you're really a man or a woman... Hai hai, Watari-kun... I know your little secret. You're so confused that you don't know what you are... and you lock yourself away in your lab to keep others from trying to puzzle out the mystery. It explains why you've been working on a secret project all these years... Going to try and force your true gender out?'
Watari said nothing as he pulled himself up from the ground, standing, though barely, against the hallway's wall.
'And I'd never have pegged you for such a deep conspirator. Funneling information to your sister of all people... cute little thing, that Hapushi. Too bad our last encounter was cut short.'
'Nani?'
Aoki laughed, 'She didn't tell you, Watari-kun? I tried to kill her, though I hardly knew she was related to you. No... I was simply trying to win over Kaguyo and Ainsu's rebellion... to my side. Seems your sister doesn't need to breathe. Fancy that. It can certainly explain why she can dive so deeply into the computer and it's infinite information.'
Wincing, Watari just tried to still his racing heart. 'What do you want from me, Aoki?'
'Simple. You're going to help me kill Aled. If you do succeed, I'll make sure Konton keeps your precious Yuki from any harm whatsoever. The same goes for Hapushi. And even for yourself. You'll continue inventing and doing all of your normal duties... but we will kill Aled before this night is up. Do we have an agreement?'
For a long time... Watari said nothing...

"Sumimasen." Watari spoke, opening the door to Aled's room, wherein both Aled and Shiori were enjoying tea.
The Tarnb-jin Ou looked up, "Watari-kun, are you sure you should be out o bed?"
Nodding, the scientist smiled. "Hai hai... I came to see how Shiori-san," his gaze went to the woman. "Was faring."

Shiori grinned. "I'm sure you'll find I can endure quite a bit." she answered.
A few months...
The door opened; at first, she smiled...
But then Shiori was staring at the scientist oddly, tilting her head at him.
"I'm doing alright, Watari-san." she answered, looking him over. "The question is how are you?? I'm amazed you can even walk..."
She moved closer to Aled, her hand discreetly snaking to clasp his.
Something unnerved her.
"Between Aled-kun and Kazu-kun I am doing very well." she smiled, even if part of it seemed plasticine.
Her headband was back on, but beneath it, her eye was wide open. She had been using her abilities to read Aled; his intentions were honorable.
But Watari...
Something just seemed off about him, something under his words. He wasn't lying, but he wasn't telling the entire truth.
"I'm sure you have more important things to worry about, hai? Where's Yuki-chan??"
Yuki watched Hapushi closely, sighing deeply. "Panic attack. I think I may have pushed the issue a little too far a little too fast with your brother." she finally admitted. "I'm not used to taking initiative as of late... especially with him---he's a legend, Hapushi-chan. I start out so sure, but then I can't read him... I make him uncomfortable. I know I have... I just don't want to risk being rejected, losing my job... I should be grateful for what I have." she ran her hand over her face and into her hair. "I think I'm better off keeping my head down for now..."

"Oh, Yuki-san's still in the lab, working on the first stages toward a cure for you, Shiori-san." the scientist smiled, bowing slightly. "But I'm fine, really... Yuki-san's been trying to keep me in a wheelchair... but that just makes me feel useless. Besides, I haven't had any chest pain since this morning really... a few winces, but nothing major."
Aled smiled in return. "You're on the mend then... your wounds had us all on edge, Watar-kun."
"Gomen nasai, Aled-sama. It was either that, or Yuki-san got hurt... and I really didn't want the latter to happen." Watari looked back to Shiori. "How are you feeling though... seriously? Any pain at all? I'll need to take the information back to Yuki-san so we can keep at it."

But Hapushi shook her head, "Wata-chan needs you now more than ever." she spoke softly. "He's well past the age for marrying, Hapushi-san, and he's been lonely for quite some time." the woman sighed. "Make him uncomfortable. I think that would work wonders."

Yuki sighed deeply. "He and I both..." she closed her eyes. "Making him uncomfortable makes ME uncomfortable too... but... if you really think so... I'll see what I can do." she promised. "Perhaps I can convince him to give me something for my anxiety attacks."
Shiori shook her head. "Daijoubu, daijoubu." she assured him. "Trust me, you're better off keeping Yuki from worrying about you. I bet she's having a panic attack as we speak.." she smiled slightly. "Don't worry, if anything's wrong, I'll come down to the lab immediately."
Not Watari anymore.
Her gaze started to slowly circle the room---a draft?
"Are you sure you're alright Watari-san??? Yuki's not bothering you is she?? She gets stubborn when it comes to treating injuries.."

"That shouldn't be hard." Hapushi agreed. "But I think if you push Wata-chan enough, he'll give in... he'll let you know his true feelings."

Watari smiled, "Well, about that... we'll need you in the lab now actually. Get some blood samples, give you a physical... though I expect you'll want Yuki-san to do that." the scientist's gaze went back to Aled. "I'll need to check your prior injuries, Aled-sama. I figured I could do that while Shiori-san got checked out."
But the woman's question caught him off guard.
"Well... to tell you the truth, Shiori-san..." Watari sighed. "Yuki-san's acting a bit off... I mean... I can understand her insistence regarding my injuries... but she... Kami-sama the woman keeps making me blush."

Shiori laughed. "I'm sure she doesn't mean to... the woman's notoriously shy herself.. but the tests can wait." she spoke firmly to the scientist.
Her grip tightened on Aled's hand. "I'm not leaving Aled-kun."
Nervous?
Why would Shiori be nervous?
Even she didn't know the answer, but it didn't change anything.
"Can't we all go together, if we absolutely must?"
Yuki bit her lip a bit, crossing her arms. "And what if I just make him uncomfortable and nothing more?"
