Hey Meriko, when doing an edit, how many colors do you use? Like, if someone has a black shirt, how many different color shades would be good to have?

For plain black, I usually use about four or five different shades of grey, plus a little bit of blue, teal, or purple and a teeny bit of white or something so pale it's practically white.

I'm drawing clothes for a character who wears all black and white. rolleyes I can already tell this won't be fun because avatar proportions are so small. crying

Taylor_Highwind: I'm not sure I undestand what you're asking. ^^; The colors I use when making a black shirt would be black plus the other colors I mentioned before...several shades of grey, a little bit of blue/teal/purple, and white.

I'm just using Black from Red/Green/Blue-0 to Grey Red/Green/Blue-120 I think...

Taylor_Highwind: So you're doing the same thing that I do, except you'r not mixing in any colors. And...there really isn't a variety of ways to highlight a black shirt. *lol* I would think that unless you're an abstract artist or the lighting is intensely colored, you always use grey tones to highlight black clothing.
