Hiru saw sensei was a bit too concerned about the mess he just made than with his question, so he just went ahead and picked up his now completely soaked flyer. This time he paid a bit more attention to the image. He analyzed it a bit and mimicked it in the air once or twice to gain a bit more confidence before doing it again. It was obvious messing up your hand signs could be pretty dangerous. He focused for a while... and then tried it again!

Oh and this time it worked, his hands got all moisty and dripped a bit of water. He didn't really know what it was supposed to do, but it did relieve his itch for a few seconds.
"Wow..." Hiru whispered, completely amazed.
Hiru flipped the page in his flyer, the next one was the rooster. He watched it pretty carefully, experience had taught him it was better that way. After a few seconds, he gave it his first shot.

Hiru's skin suddenly turned pink, like all of his classmate's. Half proud of his accomplishment, and half freaked out from being pink he turned his attention to the next gesture in the book.
"The horse, this one's kinda weird...", he whispered.
He wondered for a while how the hand gesture was supposed to look like a horse, but giving up he just settled on trying it to see what happens.

And the itch did it's work again, just as he was finishing a perfectly acceptable horse gesture his finger flinched and only one of his eyes turned blue.
"I really didn't need that stupid poison for these kind of exercises...", he whispered.
Frustrated, he nevertheless got his temper back in check long enough to get a hard long look at the image before trying again.

This time was a complete failure, it didn't even do anything. If Hiru hadn't met such great success with his first attempts at hand signs, he probably would be starting to severely boil right now. Yet, he still seemed pretty relaxed. Anyone who knew him would surely be seeing signs of impatience but overall, he was still in a decent shape to complete the exercise. Once again, he looked at the horse image and tried to visualize how it looked like a horse, he wasn't really sure he got it right, but it was still worth the try.

And yet again he failed, he started to think he was going to need sensei's help on this one. But it seemed she was still busy cleaning her desk after Hiru's first failed attempt. Doesn't matter, he though. He didn't even bother looking at the picture anymore, there had to be an error in his executions, you don't fail three times in a row because of an observation error. He placed his hands before starting the seal and then slowly got them together, just to see if this worked better.

This failure was so close, yet again, only one of his eyes changed. Hiru's low self esteem started slowly kicking in again. That was four times straight he failed.
"I'm never going to get this one right...", he couldn't help but think.
Desperate he looked into the book another time. Maybe there's something I didn't see well. For the third time, he looked at every finger on both hands to see what he could have done wrong. Hiru then gave it another desperate try.

And this time he actually got it pretty good! He must have confused a water stain with a finger originally to get it wrong so many times, but at least this one success gave him a small boost in confidence. He felt energized and was overly excited to take on the rat seal.
"Rat seal, that's a pretty lame animal for a seal...", he thought.
Hiru looked at it from a couple of angles, this technique had worked fairly well in the past, and he then gave it a first try.

Now this time it didn't even made a drip, a sound or even anything remotely close to anything a seal could do. Even though he had never tried it in the past he knew he must have done something dreadfully wrong. He took the wet flyer with one hand and looked at it for a second or two. He dropped it back on the desk and started mimicking the movements in the air again. Hiru didn't take it as bad this time though since he was starting to realize you rarely get things right the first time around. At least he didn't anyway...

Again, it failed. This time, Hiru took the time to sit down for a while at the empty desk. He read the description of the seal a few times, watched the seal from the picture from top, front back and under to make sure all of his fingers were placed right. He then got back up, watched his hands very carefully, one by one, and then very slowly started getting them closer and closer until they finally touched.

The seal wasn't spectacular per se but it was a pretty good rat seal. He knew he'd eventually have to get better at it though. He picked up his book again and shook it in the air a bit to make it dry a bit faster and turned to the next page. Then next seal was the dragon. Now THAT was a cool animal for a seal. Hiru actually wished he could see one of those one day. Anyway, he watched the picture, and gave it his first try.

As expected, his first try wasn't a spectaculer one. Hiru already being pretty aware of his limitations, adressed Cassie-sensei to get some help.
"Cassie-sensei? I'm going to try this one again on my own, could you watch me and tell me if I'm doing it right? I think I'm going to need a few pointers for the others...".
Hiru then tried as best he could remember the dragon seal, but he wasn't really trying as he was waiting for Cassie-sensei to correct him and tell him how to do it.

Picturing his older sister may have been the wrong thing, since Kiketsu almost made his fingers twist into a knot. He released his hands and decided to stare at the picture and take in all the detail of the hand seal. His eye peered behind him just to get a glance at the child behind. He was already half way done with the seals. The Hiru kid was a faster learner. The green pupils turn back to his other peers. They were no where close to the two of them. Still second place was not the tier Kiketsu preferred.

After much glaring at the seal that the green pupils could almost set ablaze the book, Kiketsu gave it another try. His fingers grappled with a much better fluidity than before. Two fingers up. The back fingers exchanged. The palm slightly opened. It was perfect. It would be one of his lesser used hand signs. Or he hoped it would be. The boy then turned the page for the next hand sign.
