Portabello straightened up immediatly as Koga addressed his master, bowing respectfully. Mike did so as well. From what he heard, this specific Gym Leader had a thing for honor and discipline. You'd be right at home with him P.B.
I rather like the set up I have with you Master. He smiled, chirping contently. They both turned their attention to the ninja.
"Master Koga." He said shortly, keeping his voice full at a desirable tone. "My name is Mike, I am a friend of Kasiya's and Kilik's." He wasn't stiff like some others, but instead relaxed. He kept a respectful posture however, as all Leader's deserved respect. "I request a battle with you for a Soul Badge."

The Clefairy held her ground as she waggled her fingers, watching Anna's every move. Unsure of what to dodge next, all that the Ghost could do was wait. She would soon regret this choice, however, as Clefairy used a Foresight attack. This attack made Anna's amorphous body become solidified, and she was now open to Normal and Fighting-type attacks.
"What the... guh?!" she exclaimed, feeling as though she had somehow just been violated. An angry frown found its way onto the ghost's face, and she shot towards the fairy Pokemon, blasting an oversized Psybeam at it. The attack connected, sending Clefairy rolling backwards several feet, chirping in pain. "Psht! Don't you dare act like that actually hurt, you jerk!" Anna yelled heatedly, awaiting her opponent to get to its feet.
And, not surprisingly, Clefairy did. She hopped up after recovering from the blow, and waggled her finger again. After a moment, it opened its mouth and shot out a stream of fire that took a shape similar to a star. It was a Fire Blast.

There was no time to dodge the attack, even if Anna had wanted to; the Fire Blast traveled at a ridiculous breakneck speed that not even a Rapidash could have got out of the way in time. The ghost was struck by the flames and send barreling backwards into a nearby wall, and was reminded of the fact that, for the time being, she held a physical form. "Juh... jeez," she groaned, slowly fluttering upwards, the beads around her neck clacking a little. "For a Fire attack coming from a Normal-type Pokemon, that sure hurt badly enough..."
She shook the attack off the best that she could, before retaliating with her own Thunderbolt attack. The electricity crackled as it spiraled along in the air towards its destination. Clefairy was determined not to be attacked however; it used Minimize to shrink its body down a little bit; the Thunderbolt passed just over the tips of its ears. She started another Metronome as Anna stared on in awe. "How in the heck-- GAH!!!" She shot off to the side as a wicked fast Signal Beam was blasted her way.
"This is ridiculous!" she exclaimed; "this thing's weaker than me but it can attack me with anything!"
Nina popped her head up from the manhole where the ladder was, that Anna had used to escalate to the floor she was on at the moment. "It's okay, Anna! I believe in you!"

Not for the first time that morning, M.A. was rendered speechless. Her mind whirled and turned upside down to find what she should do. What she must do. What could she say that could change his mind? Would he listen? What could she do? What would make a difference?
She stood up, legs wobbling. No, she wouldn't just let him walk out those glass doors and let this darkness consume him and his Pokemon. She could not forget the Crenu from yesterday, the one with an easy smile, the one she had thought was almost like a brother to Ky. He couldn't be all gone. They couldn't have lost him already. She couldn't lose faith in him.
She swiftly walked passed Ky and hastened to pass Crenu, knocking over a chair in the process. Then, positioning herself between him and the door, she made a barrier of herself. "Where are you?" A quiet, simple statement. The real question was in her eyes, however, and once again she met his cool gaze without flinching.
"I don't know what it is to be strong, so maybe I'm wrong, but. . . This way you're going. . . Your body, your Pokemon may become strong, but what of you? Your heart? . . . You said you wanted to be powerful enough to protect anything or anyone, but what will there be left for you to wish to protect, once you've cast your heart away? All that strength. . . maybe you won't ever lose again, but will you end up hurting others instead?"
All of this she said softly. She didn't know where the words from, of if they made any sense of impact. . . but that was all she could say.

"What the heck?! Where'd you come from?" Anna asked, a bit in shock, rocketing out of the way of another Signal Beam. Nina, Raimundo, and Whitney climbed up onto the solid ground. "We were behind you a little ways, remember? We weren't able to find--" Nina's sentence was cut off as she looked to what her Pokemon was battling-- the Clefairy.
"Oh, wow! Anna, you found her! Great job!" The ghost Pokemon loosed another Thunderbolt at her adversary-- this one connected however. "Yeah, and you'd better appreciate me doing this for you! I found that Moon Stone over there, and I wanted to bring it to you, but when I approached it, that Clefairy started to attack me! She's relentless, and a lot stronger than I'd expected!" Running forward, Clefairy jumped into the air and extended one of its legs out and bended the other inward, karate-style, smashing into Anna's head. She started to scamper away from the ghost after striking.
"AGH! That is it!" Anna hollered, fixing her gaze on the fairy. A purple aura surrounded Clefairy, and soon she slowed down from scampering, to walking, to finally just standing still. That was when the ghost took over. She controlled her opponent's body like a puppet, and lifted her into the air, slowly at first, before bringing Clefairy down onto the hard ground. From there, she flung the Pokemon upwards into the ceiling, and then slammed Clefairy back down onto the ground.
She continued this process several more times, before releasing her Psychic hold on the Pokemon. She sighed. "It's your turn, now." Nina nodded, grabbing one of the two remaining unused Pokeballs that she had left, and eyed the weakened opponent. She tossed the ball up and caught it once, twice, and let out a sigh of her own.
Then, she threw it.

Sunfire had little time to react to the onslaught of Swift. He moved to the side thinking he had dodged the blow only to realize that the stars had also turned from that spot and came crashing into him. "Well that was interesting..." Mag sighed. "I really need to teach you more about opponents moves I guess. But let's move on! Keep up the Shadow Balls!"
Sunfire nodded and took aim firing off another Shadow Ball into the water. It narrowly missed Starmie. The star shaped pokemon seemed to move just as fast in and outside of the water. But luckily Shadow Ball was not slowed by the currents either. Sunfire then aimed and shot off another orb.

Linalee slid her way into the room to watch the fight from behind Dante. She resisted the urge to cheer him on seeing that his pokemon was in somewhat of a bind. And this way she could surprise him when he finally did notice that she was there.

"Ahh, it's good to have friends," he nodded, smiling lightly. The Gym Leader hadn't been challenged in quite some time, and it made him happy to know that there were two challenges in a row given to him. "Now, can the bond you share with your Pokemon break the bond I share with mine?" he asked, turning on his heel and walking to the spot he had stood before in his battle with Kasiya.
"A standard four-on-four match, Mike. Do you agree with these terms?" he snagged a Pokeball from his belt and pressed the button to enlarge it.

"Hah! Thats not going to work. My Viney's Sweet Scent is as strong as they come! Now Viney lets show it your Take Down!" Roaring the large Pokemon charged at Apollo its heavy frame causing the ground to shake as it ran. Normally Apollo would be able to dodge a pokemon running at him at this speed, but with the sweet sent in the air he was an easy target. With another roar the large heavy pokemon smashed into Apollo's warm body.
Upon impact Apollo let out a pained whinny and stumbled around doing his best to get his bearings straight. After a moment he recovered and was looking madder then ever. Snorting flames Apollo's hooves pawed at the ground churning up dirt and rocks. With out even waiting for a comand the powerful horse dashed at the Venusaur. Opening his mouth he blasted out a Fire Blast, however he didn't stop there instead he picked upspeed until he was in the Fire Blast that he had shot out earlier and combined that with a Fury Attack. Upon impact the two combined attack caused the grass pokemon to shriek and stumble around some before falling to one knee. Apollo trotted over to his side of the feild and stood proudly mane and tail ablaze and head held high, he was not going to be tricked again.
However no other comand of attack would come. Instead there was a shrill squeal from the other side. "Wow! That was an amazing combination attack! I haven't seen many better, and the black and white flames made it look amazing! That would get you into round two no problem!" Stephanie squealed running over to Apollo and begane to inspect every inch. "Though he does need his coat brushed and his horn polished. You need a lot of work but I can see definate potential in you!" She gushed. Over her head Apollo gave Dante a confused look. Not quite knowing what was going on as well Dante just shrugged. Head snapping in his direction Stephanie marched over with a determined look on her face. "I must have your Rapidash! Please I will win every contest if I enter it."

The boy nodded, taking out an Ultra Ball of his own. "Xanthos' turn to play." With a flick of his wrist, he called forth his temperamental Crawduant. The Dark Pokemon sniffed the air, fixing his eyes on Koga. Something about him sent his blood to a boil, as he smashed the ground with his claws. "Good, get mad." Mike said encouragingly. "We're going to have to give it our all for this match." Xanthos lifted his claws, ready for whatever the ninja was about to send out.

Koga grimmaced at the sight of the Crawdaunt. "Like the girl's Absol, your Pokemon lacks..." he tossed the ball in his hand with a casual flick of the wrist, "self control!" The sphere burst open to reveal an all too familiar Pokemon. Created by three round objects cratered with round holes, each piece connected by a fleshy tube, a purple Weezing fluttered onto the scene. It wore a very serious expression; one that was ready to fight. He spewed out green smoke with a growl.
"Weezing! Use Toxic!" Koga called out. With a slight hand gesture, which Weezing mimicked with his body, purple haze flooded the area. To add into the fray, the Pokemon spat gunk towards Crawdaunt.

Mike felt nearly offended at the off handed comment the Gym Leader made. "But if Xanthos was all obedient and such, he wouldn't be Xanthos." He muttered under his breath. As the poisonous sludge seeped through the cracks in the Crawduant's carapace, Mike identified it as the lovely Poison status effect. Fantastic. He would have to knock out the Weezing before Xanthos was taken out by the ill status. "Ice Beam!"
The Crab Pokemon opened his pincers wide, placing them together. Charging up a frigid move, Xanthos thrust forward, blasting a cone of frost towards the Poison Gas Pokemon.
Portabello sat on the sidelines, eying both trainers and Pokemon.

Koga shook his head. "Then he is a Pokemon that needs to be tamed!" Weezing turned to retreat from the Ice Beam, and took the damage at the smallest sphere that made him. Koga felt a chill run down his spine. "Let Weezing be the one to tame him! Sludge Bomb!"
Turning in mid air and staring directly at Xanthos, the Poison-type hurled a massive ball of sludge towards the crab. It felt good throwing up a Sludge Bomb.

Having heard no answer on the other line, Kilik sighed and hung up. The boy then noticed that Kasiya was no longer battling and a familiar tuft of hair and pants was now facing him. The top part of a Breloom also appeared to him. "Well, the surprises never stop!" he laughed, standing up and walking into the courtyard. He planted his feet next to Portabello and stared directly at the battle.
"So, Porta. Mike's getting himself a Soul Badge?" he asked the mushroom, "Strange. I always thought he was aiming for the Hoenn set."

Perhaps my Master was just bored. The Breloom shrugged, standing up and stretching his legs. He seems to have random bouts of illogical thinking. His focus never left the battle, as another ball of Sludge flew towards his comrade. He recognized the move, a bit of acidic substances built up in his stomach.
As the dark purple grim propelled itself towards his Pokemon, Mike ordered that he perform a Protect. Xanthos crossed his arms in his trademark 'X' fashion, the Sludge Bomb exploded inches in front of him, a greenish ripple wavered in the air before dissipating as the attack dissolved into a purple mist.
