I only read it once, so I might not remember it all, but basicly Jiraiya was supposed to make a book and train someone who would either destroy the world or bring it to new prosperity or something like that (does that sound too TotA-ish? gonk ). This person is also supposed to change his generation.
Jiraiya assumes it's Pain, but the Great Toad (who told the proficy) himself never said who it was. Atleast not yet.

That's just it, though.
It's because it's so obvious that it makes me skeptical... Kishimoto is NEVER so obvious. gonk Or maybe he's trying reverse psychology on me... >>

But so many things that were SO obvious beforehand did come to be.
For example - we always knew that Naruto would be Minato's son. Some might have thought that Kishimoto was just pulling our leg a little too hard, but it turned out to be quite true.
For another - we knew, somehow, that Sai would turn to the good side (despite his snotty little rude self), yet we thought that Kishi might be doing reverse psychology on us and have Sai do the complete opposite of what we were thinking. But he DID do what we initially thought he would do.
And yet another - we knew, in the Sasuke silhouette chapter (304, was it?) that he would be appearing soon. But what if that was only a teaser for chapter 320+? It turned out we were right all along - he reappeared in chapter 306 in his bishounen glory and awesomeness.
So this must be one of those things that makes us so confused in its obviousness. I firmly believe that. I'm not going to read too deep into it - I'm going with the obvious answer.
But what if it isn't? Hahahaha lol *shot*

I don't know, really. And I'm not trying to look too deep into things, I just have bad habit of ALWAYS SECOND GUESSING MYSELF. scream

Until we get more information, I am not jumping to conclusions. When I support a theory, I like there to be a healthy amount of evidence supporting it.
Though, if I had to guess right now, my money would be on Naruto <__<
