I understand price being a problem. If it wasn't for my partial scholarship & my father being smart about his stocks, I probably wouldn't be able to go. Even if you lived close by, you'd still have to live in a dorm unless you actually lived in the city. I live close enough to commute but I still have to live on campus because my house is outside their city limits.
At least you've got a plan. I've kind of made mine up as I go, but I've got it set now; Finish up at Hendrix & then go to Scottsdale, Arizona to study baking at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute & possibly live with my mother's cousin in Phoenix.

Thanks. It's nice to hear that for a change. Usually, when peolpe hear that, they ask, "Then why are you going to Hendrix?" Apparently, people don't seem to understand that I'm going there for the sake of education. Plus, a place like that looks nice on a resume. I'm glad I listened to my father's advice & decided to go there. 3nodding

It's always good to go to the best school you possibly can because, as you said, it does look good on a resume 3nodding . That and you should go somewhere where you feel that you are learning a lot 3nodding . Cooking is fun too, what kind of things do you like to cook?

I like baking desserts & making candy. I've got some recipes memorized, such as basic cake, cheesecake, & truffle recipes. I plan on making some scones to go with my tea today. 3nodding

I like working with poultry too, the whole dang bird, don't ask me why 'cause I don't know, I just think it's fun rolleyes . I've also gotten into Japanese food recently and can cook a few Japanese things (depending on what ingredients I can find). You're lucky you can memorize recipes, I can't xp . Heck, I foget what tv show I'm watching during a commercial break! rofl

I'm good at memorizing actions through repitition. I had to memorize stuff for band, choir, dance, tai chi, & acting. After making the same foods for a while, I got the recipe memorized like I would a song or dance. Truffles are an easy enough candy to make. All it takes is some chocolate, cream, butter, & know-how.
I like working with poultry, too. For the last few years, I've been in charge of the family's Thanksgiving turkey.
By the way, the scones turned out pretty good. Crumbly, but good.

Basically, they just look like biscuits. I've seen triangle-shaped ones before, though. Here's a really nice picture of some scones with clotted cream & cherry jam:

Levallia, I'm going to be moving from Minnesota to Alabama for college... Community Colleges are better then High School... but they're not much better then high school, they're simply a refreshment corse. Shouldn't you qualify for Reciprocity?
and Ty, No... I don't want a chaos doll... but I'll go for some chaos tea cakes. 3nodding

You're right Anne, they do like like biscuits. Dang it, now I'm hungry again! rolleyes
At the risk of sounding stupid, what is Reciprocity, Naomi? I never heard about much of the college stuff because the councelor at my high school didn't do ANYTHING; heck, I had to hear about the FAFSA from my dentist! rolleyes Plus, she was never in her office so I couldn't even find her to ask questions. All she did was hoard scholarships for her son and his romantic interest (both of whom were in my class).

Damn, now I feel ignorant because I don't know what Reciprocity means in a college setting. I do know that reciprocity in general means equal give & take. It's the "You Scratch My Back, I'll Scratch Yours" philosophy.
