Big and burly, he was born to play the monsters and looming beasts on the stage, a fact found by accident one day.
There were so many furs and pelts scattered around backstage for use in the many plays the fairy court demanded to whet their theatrical appetite. This totoma spent much of his young life back there and one day decided to see if he could wear all of the furs they had.
As he lumbered out onto the stage, it was his father who startled and bolted with a cry of Bear! Thinking he had run into some terrifying mutant one on his familiar stage.
Bear just assumed this was how everyone got their names, he wasn't very bright.

As the son of two actors, he was on the stage even as a lamb, and had a personality as big as his stage presence. For three nights as he played his first leading role, the audience demanded an encore.
"They're calling for another encore," Lackwit informed him on the fourth night, nosing through the curtain of vined flowers and willow branches.
"No," the totoma said with a confident toss of his horns, "they're calling for Me."
