❛❛Sometimes you have to give up, not because you didn't try to move mountains to be with someone. You give up because they didn't try to move mountains to be with you. They settled for their life and the people in it, even when it isn't what they really want. You weren't meant to live a lie. Hold your head high and know that you won't ever settle for that misery. Let go.❜❜ ▇ ▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇
I'm feeling flustered. || I'm speaking to Coralyn. || I'm wearing smart casual || I have $200 on me and $800 stashed in the bank. || I have feelings for no one.
▇ ▇▇ ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇
Compliments after compliments, and tending to their needs. He learned to work his way around the higher society, showering them with words they’d much prefer to hear, though his awkward points still remained within the many years passed. Sealed behind his lips were silent protests and reluctance, of unspoken discomfort trapped within the depths of his chest. He was in no position to complain when their families were tightly roped together by the chains of the music industry, by chains of business and wealth. Yet here in Soleil, the ropes that bound him were cut loose. He was not approached for wealth, nor status. He was not befriended for the sole purpose of his influence, for benefits, or any materialistic purposes. They were eager to teach, to share, and for the past twenty six years in France, it could never compete with the many months he’s spent in Soleil. Here, he felt he was home. He was allowed to speak his mind, he was allowed to be vulnerable in front of others. He could bicker with another, like old friends, like a small fight between stubborn siblings. Here, he could be human.
There was an uproar in the family the first time he came home with a tattoo, with an inking the family deemed inappropriate, with a mark that could stain their family’s proper reputation. After all, who would take a yankee seriously in the industry of music? For months he was not allowed to step out in clothings that could expose his skin: often sporting long sleeves, or suit blazers despite the hot, and humid weather in mid summer. For a while, he felt as though he was shunned by his own parents who refused to listen, despite his desperate attempt at explaining, until Rigel stepped in. He, the black sheep of the family, who took off his shirt to reveal golden inkings spreading down the side of his torso, and his lower back. Camil chuckled at the memory and shook his head, remembering that his brother had only made matters worse back then, though he had greatly appreciated his concern.
”I long to start fresh. Free from the walls that confines me, free from the burden that weigh down upon my ankles.” he wanted to start fresh, from this day, this very moment. He wanted to engrave the feeling he felt within his mind within this passing second, worry-free, lighthearted, and calm. He wanted to remember this serenity. His eyes met hers, briefly locking onto baby blues. Though he was sure part of the reason, was also because of her calming presence. ”I do sing.” his voice was quiet, ”I just.. don’t sing in front of a crowd.” if he could choose, he wouldn’t have sung in front of her either.
”Oh, dear.” crisp laughter escaped his lips, engaging the dimples upon his cheek. He’d briefly wonder if there was anything else he could do if he hadn’t stepped into the music industry. A chef, perhaps? Culinary was the only other thing he’d enjoy during his free time, toying with the spices in his own kitchen, trying new recipes should his siblings ever request for a change of taste. His free hand brushed against his elbow, feeling the foldings of his soft, cotton knitted sleeve against his forearm. The lengthier sections of his hair fell loosely around one side of his shoulder, just barely touching his collar bone, while the rest were layered, swaying along with the movement of his head each time he laughed. ”I can’t picture myself being anything else, really. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t envious of your ambitions. Marriage and whatnot.” he heaved a soft sigh, the corners of his lips laced with a melancholic smile.
”But I’m surprised you noticed.” he teased, regarding her childish mindset that showed through more than half of the time, but he supposed it wasn’t a bad aspect. Children were automatically drawn to people like her, whereas he was simply.. not the brightest. He wasn’t friendly at first glance, given his unintentional glare from time to time, and the way his lips were naturally curved downwards into a light frown, or the way he’d clench his teeth whenever he was nervous, causing his features to tense up. It was something he found hard to change, his expressions, his pessimistic nature, as well as the stern air surrounding him. ”I’m sure your time will come, my dear.” there was no rush when it came to choosing a lifetime partner, though he could vaguely understand why they were eager for him to get married. They wanted grandchildren, to pamper them, as Camil’s grandmother had, with him. Or perhaps they were simply worried about his well-being, wanting him to find someone who could take care of him. Even he knew that a day would come when Rigel would leave his side, should he ever decide to give marriage a second chance. Camil wished he would, knowing despite the cheerful expression he wore, his brother was rather lonely.
”It’s exactly because I don’t, that they chose to step in.” but nonetheless, as frustrating as it could be, he understood where they were coming from. ”I just.. don’t see myself cut out for romance. Not again.” he bitterly accepted love confessions here and there, unable to find the will in himself to say no. And from then onwards, e was led around by the nose, listening to their selfish requests, buying them whatever they wanted, be it handbags or purse, or the lace dress in the high end establishment at the corner of the street. At times, he was used as a money bag, other times, he was told he was boring, as though they were dragging a lifeless doll around. He held hands, had his first kiss, yet never went beyond that borderline, and it confused him when they accused him of not loving them enough. But they weren’t wrong. He had never felt butterflies in his stomach.
"I really wish I find love someone like you." and his eyes widened in return, this time with surprise, and a mild hint of.. horror(?) not from her words, but from the replaying memories of similar situations. Golden gaze downcast, though her next set of words had him feeling.. half elated, and half nervous. That was a first. Instead of answering, the musician lifted his hand and motioned for the bill, before it was brought over to him. Slender fingers reached for his wallet tucked in his back pocket, tugging a twenty dollar note between his quivering fingers. Someone like him? He motioned for them to keep the change, before he stood from his seat, feeling the heat slowly rising to his cheeks, darkening his skin into a deep shade of crimson. An air of silence hung over their heads, like a storm cloud during a thunderstorm. ”Isn’t it because we’re the same?” he briefly answered, tapping against his ear. Special needs, he meant. That was why they understood one another, why she found it easy to speak to him. Or at least that was what he had been telling himself, that should one of them be ‘normal’, perhaps things would have been a tad different.
”Come.” he motioned, ”I’m feeling the weather. If it’s not too much, may I trouble you for a walk in the rain? I’ll walk you home.”

❀ ❝Ⓒⓞⓡⓐⓛⓨⓝ Ⓓⓤⓑⓞⓘⓢ❞ ❀ ══════════════════════════ "There will come a prince, that will see right into my heart."Coralyn barely ever loitered around the higher end of the society, but the ones she had encountered weren't as pleasant. Although knowing how it felt like to be judged even before being understood, she never tried making an opinion about anyone. She learned to be nice to everyone and being quiet just came naturally to her, thanks to the condition she was gifted at an early age. Although here it seemed different, somehow, especially with him. She didn't have to be a different person with him, she didn't have to even try to hold back. He heard her. With her long full lashes fluttering when she'd hear him chuckle, her head cocking lightly as she wondered what made him chuckle, she straightened up quickly when she'd hear him speak. She never realized he felt that way, feeling bad that she was so ignorant sometimes, wishing she could do something about it. Unable to find the right words to sign to him but her lips tugged into a smile when he continued. "Can I hear you sing again?" she asked, propping her chin on her arms as her elbows rest on the table, smiling brightly at him expectantly. She wouldn't mind if he'd say no, but she did wish he'd agree. Hearing his laughter over her silly joke, her smile grew bright. She enjoyed hearing him laugh and if it was something she caused, oh she was in heaven. Quite the flatterer indeed or simply too lovestruck? Either way, she watched him, her baby blues watching his moves like she was studying him, wondering what was working behind those raven locks. "I believe you'll do great in anything you desire to do. Even if you chose to end up baking sweets that you so detest." she chuckled, holding up her thumb to him as she added, "Don't ponder upon things too much, remember to be the best version of you, not someone the world wants to see." she grinned. Easier said than done, Coralyn would have to take some time and practice what she taught. "You're not the first one to call me a child though, my sister doesn't forget to remind me I am one." she stated, sticking her tongue out to him playfully. She was just too carefree, careless often too, she wasn't ready to be a responsible wife, or mother and she wasn't really in a hurry either. But she did wish to change a little, maybe be better with her responsibilities and even work on her dreams. "Oh, I believe so too." she stated with a smile. Lucky for her, her parents were in no hurry and even wished their daughter found herself a partner without them having to intervene. They did fall for each other before tying the knot and they hoped someone would look past her disability and accept her as well, in their own time. "Well you can tell them you're taking your time?" she suggested, unsure if that would even work. "A cousin of mine was stuck in a similar situation, he simply told his parents to not bother him until he as ready. she stated. Her eyes widened from his statement, ”I just.. don’t see myself cut out for romance. Not again.”. Was he in love before? Did someone hurt him? It made her feel like she had no chance with him, but hey, wasn't so bad being friends right? Shaking off the selfish feelings, she tried to focus on him, baby blues cast back on him. "I'm sorry about that, but..maybe you just never found the right one? I'm sure, once you find them, everything will change." she smiled brightly. The way his features gave away his feelings made her heart sink, her breath falling short as she realized she might have just killed the evening. The silence was killing her, the way he avoided even looking at her for that while was as bad as her asphyxia from her allergies when she didn't have her pills. Why did she have to just blurt out things he wasn't willing to hear from her, why did she have to be so blunt?! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! she mentally told herself, resisting the urge to slap herself. Hearing his response, her face morphed into an expression of concern, anxiety, and disappointment. That wasn't it. There was more to it than just a condition that helped them feel at ease with each other, but she couldn't get herself to explain it to him. What could she say? "N-No..it's not just that..." she signed, her fingers closing together as she exhaled. She couldn't explain it to him. What should she say? His expressions just flashed over and over before her eyes, making her realize how she messed up. Casting her glassy eyes back at him when he asked her to join him for a walk, she hung her head lightly as she picked up her things, following him as he lead her out. She almost forgot to open her umbrella until she felt the cold droplets hit her head. She quickly opened it up, her eyes cast back on him as she bit her lower lip from nervousness. Was he mad at her for that? A few steps ahead in silence and she couldn't resist anymore. She rushed over to walk before him and stopped him in his trail, using her arm to hold her umbrella while she signed. "I'm sorry if that offended you, b-but I didn't intend to. I do mean what I said though, you make me feel so normal I tend to forget about everything that bothers me and it's not just because you can read when I sign to you, its because I feel like I can be me when I'm with you and you the same. I really..." she stopped herself quickly, her cheeks darkening when she realized she nearly signed something that would probably make this situation even worse. What was she thinking!? "I really..am sorry..if I made this awkward." she signed, lowering her head lightly. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Company: Camil || Mood: Flustered || Single || ❀ || Where: Moonbucks Café || Listening to: || OOTD: Gloomy meow~ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Occ:

After paying the taxi driver and making sure to give him a nice tip, Desi sprinted into the cafe. He had only been outside a moment and already her clothes were damp. Huffing a bit, the young male wondered if he was damn crazy! There was flood warnings and he was at the cafe! Though one glance around, the male was able to see that he wasn't the only crazy person. Almost every single table had at least one person sitting at it. "Huh.." Desi mumbled to himself before shivering a little bit and heading up to the counter. The line was pretty long and the male frowned slightly. He wasn't the most patient person, especially since he was cold and hungry. But, he knew that there was nothing he could do to make the line go faster, so he would just have to suck it up and wait. As he stood there, he glanced at the TV. It was muted to keep the volume low in the cafe, but the subtitles were on, so he could read the weather forcast. In the orange? That was pretty scary! He hoped this horrid weather would clear up soon. "Next!" The voice calling out made the male jump a little bit and he blushed as he realized it was his turn and that he had been holding up the line. "S-Sorry!" The male squeaked out to the people behind him before scurrying over to the cashier. "I'll have a large Carmel mocha, a slice of strawberry cheesecake, and a chocolate chip muffin." After swiping his card, Desi dug around in his pocket and dropped a five into the cashier's tip jar while giving the cashier his name. He felt bad for the people behind the counter, having to work during the storm. He remembered when he was in customer service, he always hated the people that came in on the bad weather days because he just wanted to be at home rather than work. Stepping off the the side, the male fidgeted a little bit as he looked around. Spotting a small, two person table open, he hurried over to it. What luck! Taking off his jacket, her draped it over the back of his chair. "Desi?" Hearing his name, the male headed to the pick-up counter to collect his drink. Balancing his items carefully, he went over to the table and took a seat. Eyeing the muffin and cheesecake, Desi picked up his small fork and cut off a small bit of the cheesecake. Popping it into his mouth, he smiled a bit. Yum! Setting his fork down, Desi then gently blew on his coffee to cool it down before taking a sip. ──────────────────────────────────Profile: Here | Status: Single | Outfit: Pink sweater | OOC: -

Taking very small sips of his coffee, Desi stared out the nearby window. Watching as the rain poured form the heavens, he was amazed at the number of people outside, running with their umbrellas or sprinting to their cars. He supposed that not even a storm could stop people from getting to work. Sighing softly, the male glanced at his coffee in his hands before flinching a bit as a rumble of thunder broke the silence. Hissing softly as he spilled some of the hot liquid on his thumb, Desi set the cup down and furiously wiped the hot liquid off on his pants. Pouting softly at the small red mark that now appeared on his skin, the raven haired incubus shook his head a little bit before picking up his fork and cutting off a small piece of his cheesecake once again.
“Mind if I take a seat? Everywhere else is pretty much full.”
A voice spoke to the male, causing him to once again jump a little bit. Glancing up Desi froze, his mouth hanging open half an inch and his fork halfway between his plate and mouth. The young male stared at the stranger for less than half a second before he shut his mouth and quickly shook his head. "N-No! I don't mind." He said quickly, a hint of a blush creeping up on his cheeks. Agh, why was he like this!? He always had to make himself look silly whenever an attractive male was near him! Trying to regain his composure, Desi closed the distance between the fork and his mouth and ate the piece of cheesecake before setting the fork down. "I'm Desi." He said, offering a friendly smile. He just hoped that this new stranger wouldn't mind his awkward attempts at conversation. ──────────────────────────────────Profile: Here | Status: Single | Outfit: Pink sweater | OOC: -

Taking a moment to glance over the man as he sat down in his seat, the small demon blushed ever so slightly. Tall, muscular, handsome. He was definitely Desi's type, but drooling over an attractive guy wasn't why Desi was here! It was just by luck that he got to share his table with the stranger. Plus, Desi highly doubted the man would be interested in having the incubus try and flirt with him. He was probably just here to enjoy his coffee. "It's nice to meet you." The young male replied after Mateo told him his name. Lifting up his cup, Desi took a small sip to test the temperature of the coffee before taking a larger gulp. It was hot enough to send a wave of warmth through him, but not so hot that it would burn his tongue and throat. Setting the cup down, Desi decided to give his muffin a try. After carefully peeling off the paper, he took a bit. It was good, not as good as the ones he had bought from the grocery store, but still good! Setting the muffin down on the napkin next to his plate, Desi eyes Mateo once again.
He wondered what this guy's story was. Did he live here? Was he on vacation? Did he have any pets. Desi was getting a bit of a 'dog person' vibe from the male, but for all he knew he could be a total cat person! Lost in his thoughts for a moment, the ravenette almost didn't hear Mateo's next question. "Ah, this is actually my first time in here! Their coffee is pretty good though. I think the cheesecake is tasty as well." He said, smiling softly. "I just recently moved to the city." He went on to explain. "I've been here for about... I think close to a month now." He said and so far, the city was great. Yeah, he hasn't really had much of a chance to make any friends, but when you're busy with unpacking, and having to reassure your worried mother that you would be fine and that she wouldn't get a call saying you were dead in an alleyway, it could be a little hard getting out and about. The recent rain hasn't helped much either. "How about you? Are you from here?" He asked curiously. ──────────────────────────────────Profile: Here | Status: Single | Outfit: Pink sweater | OOC: -
