~Window~ Window had ducked while the books flew about, but as he rose back up another one slammed into the back of his head. He hissed softly in surprise, though the pain was not nearly as bad as falling face-first on the cobblestone during the battle. His face flushed slightly out of embarrassment, both from the blow and from Aerith's jest, though it would have been hard for anyone to see it as he kept his head down to rub the back of his head. It also gave him a moment to reflect on what Merlin had said--this world was always in a state of night. So, there must not be a sun. How did it stay warm, then? Maybe it was another twist of magic. Window sighed, noticing for the hundredth time how nothing was certain anymore. He didn't know how he was going to get to sleep tonight. As expected, Merlin performed another reality-bending trick, and Window found himself in another room. If he hadn't been waiting for it, Window probably would have broken his composure again and gasped in surprise. He held himself back to let the others choose where they wanted to sleep first, much in the same way he had let the others take a seat earlier in the room below, though he noticed Solaris doing the same. Window quietly admired this man's manners; it was so much like his own, or at least the little he had seen. Because he had not moved toward a bed immediately, he managed to hear a small voice speak up from somewhere beheind:
"What is it it to forgive?"Window looked at Youni. She was such an odd one, but...there was something more than odd about her, something deeper. It was mystery. She had a mysterious, otherworldly air about her. It intrigued the ever-curious Window. "Forgiveness? To forgive...well, it is at once both a simple and complicated question," began the man in his typical pedantic manner. "The definition is simple enough, but the emotional attachment to the word speaks volumes. To forgive someone is to excuse or overlook some transgression or offense the other party has committed in the past. It is to let the offending party know that you no longer feel ill will towards them for their actions that may have resulted in some form of physical or emotional harm to yourself." Window stopped, realizing that he was not speaking to a group of peers or mature students. This was a child. He didn't have a lot of experience around young people, so he felt a little awkward, but he tried his best. His face softened as he bent over to be on eye level with Youni. Yes, she was young, but that didn't mean he was going to baby her or be condescending; she deserved to be talked to face to face, just with less convoluted sentences. He began again. "Er...that is, when you forgive someone, you are telling the other person you are not upset or mad or angry at them for something they might have done to cause you harm, either physically or emotionally, as I said before." It was late, and Window was at a loss for words, so he mentally slapped himself for not being able to come up with something new to say. "To clarify, here is an example. If someone threw an object at you, they might later ask for your forgiveness. If you do not feel anymore negative emotion for their action, you can reply and give your forgiveness. Even though we talk of 'forgiveness' as if it is a physical object, it is not.
"You can also ask someone for forgiveness out of politeness, as a precaution for some kind of impropriety you might accidentally do in a situation in which the rules or formalities or the other person's sensitivities are unknown." Curses; he was getting complicated again. "Let us imagine that a person walking in front of you and they drop an item. You pick up the item and run after them to return their item. However, it is often rude to intrude into another's personal space without permission. So, you would acknowledge this rule and, knowing you must break it, you say to them, 'Forgive me, but you have dropped this item and I wished to return it to you.' One can also use the word 'excuse' interchangeably for the word 'forgive' in this situation.
"Did I explain the nuances of 'forgive' well enough to you? Was it too much?" It was only after he finished that Window realized exactly how much information he had loaded upon this poor, small soul. He sent an apologetic look at Aerith and Merlin.

Ϸrologue : Ӷhe Ƒirst Ɗomino Ƒalls
The day had started out like any other for those across the cosmos, even in the world of Traverse Town. An atypical orphanage of a world, this place was a conglomeration of fragments and lost souls whose homes had been taken from them, as well as a hub of activity for others traveling the cosmos. Here, people came to rest, to find peace in a universe at war with the Darkness. Though the Darkness was just as prevalent here, this world was protected by an assortment of heroes, making it the safest place in the universe, save Disney Castle.
But it would be on this day the forces of chaos made themselves truly known. Calling themselves the Conclave of Ruination, these malicious beings sought power and destruction above all things. Led by an enigmatic entity without a heart, the Conclave had remained under the metaphorical radar for years, amassing forces and power. Today, it seemed, would be the day they announced their presence.
A pair of their members- a Nobody known as Aria, and a mortal known as Olum- assaulted the First District of Traverse Town, using strength none had seen before. However, fighters immediately came to the rescue, combining their forces to repel the dark assault. The battle seemed without end, but just when the protectors of Traverse Town thought they might have the upper hand, the pair left, leaving a cryptic clue for one of the fighters- his brother had ‘saved’ them.
Without a break, however, a massive Heartless appeared, causing more terror and targeting a pair of the protectors- royalty from another world. The Heartless, created by Haruko, a Conclave member with a grudge, had eyes only for its targets, and in the end it was the combined efforts of the defenders that destroyed the creature. It was due to this series of battles that the fighters grew to know one another- until that day, most of them had never met each other, and in working together, they found strength enough to topple superpowers.
The group inevitably split up, though now simply into two different groups, each deciding it best to work together toward their similar goals- one group sought to unravel the mysteries of the Heartless, and the other hoped to discover the home world of one of their own, considering the trip to come the adventure of a life time. All things, however, were not quite as calm as they seemed.
Throughout the battles, a commander within the Conclave (known as Vereor) had been in the town, recruiting yet more allies to the cause- the temptation of power the Conclave had to offer was too much to decline, and their number grew yet again. Meanwhile, the world of Wonderland was wrought to rubble as two other Conclave members, Fal'Navi and Zekvyr, sought to kidnap the young woman known as Alice who, unknown to them, was a Princess of Heart. And on a dying world, the leader of the Conclave, Kyozuto, convinced one more to join his flock through an act unheard of: he stole the heart of the world for himself.
Back in the quiet town of Traverse, the groups had each run into another member of the Conclave; Fal'Navi, the dark dragon knight, had come to play with a young knight on orders from Vereor, while Masenko, a Nobody ninja, had decided to spend some of his free time playing with the other group. Each battle ended much more quickly than the ones earlier today, yet on much more stressful notes. Fal'Navi revealed the truth- that Vereor, the brother of one of the fighters, not only 'saved' himself and some of the other Conclave members, but gave them the orders to commit such heinous acts. Masenko, though, had only been there to test the other group; as he left, it was the appearance of another man that struck so powerful a cord. An entity, calling himself Xetunos, offered to aid the group, even giving them 'helpful' advice; however, even those oblivious to the scent of Darkness could tell that something was no right about this man, and his departure was the only thing that brought them peace.
These two groups chose to retire for the evening; one group made its way to the Hotel, and the other made its way to Merlin's abode, where they obtained a vast assortment of information on the goings-on of the universe, including the existence of the Keyblade and Kingdom Hearts itself, though both were spoken of as 'legends'. Though still others arrived on this world forever wrapped in dark, starlit skies, night had fallen and the city was winding down. Nothing more would happen until morning; and so the defenders slept.
The Conclave, however, had only just stirred from its hibernation. There was still so much to do...

Xεlℐzα℞
He woke. He stirred.
Xelizar had left the two bugaboos in the second district. They were quite boring. So, he went back to his ship to sleep. With his long nap in, Xelizar stretched and twisted his body, taking pleasure in listening to the little pops of his spine realigning. He grabbed his key by the crooked grip at the top and burst out of his gummi ship, still oddly parked in the plaza of the first district. "No first district. No second district. There's one place left on this tiny planet then...I hope I find at least SOMEONE here.....I was told this was an orphanage, not a graveyard." He jumped off the ground and with a spastic flapping of his wings, he took off and glided towards the third district door. With a hard tug, the door relented and he walked through. Nothing. His eyes scanned the district and nothing looked out of place, which was a rather LARGE problem. Xelizar inhaled and glowed a deep, dark red, exhaled blue, and reverted back to his glistening pseudo-prismatic color. "Time to fix this place too." He flipped the blade around his hand and tapped it to the ground, closing his eyes. The ground around him started to shift and separate until it looked like the hilt of his blade. If any artificers ever came here, they'd know SOMEONE was left. The ground slowly receded and dark shapes twisted along.
"Oh hey." Xelizar said, standing up. Three shadow heartless stood there staring at him with beady yellow eyes. His onyx eyes lit up until they shone back with a creepy radiance. They plodded to him, claws outstretched. One jumped up to slash him. Xelizar parried with a frown. Evidentially, they didn't like him messing around with the third district.

[Third District : Merlin's House]"Up up! Time for breakfast!"
There was a bright puff of blue smoke in the middle of the second story of Merlin's hut, and his voice carried around the room, where those that stayed last night remained (Artemis, Window, Solaris, Nalo, and Enyb). He appeared, yet again, in his blue robes and hat, but seemed quite a bit cheerier than he did the night before.
"Today's the big day, isn't it? You're off on an adventure!" Merlin declared, clearly excited. "And good news! I managed to get Cid to give you a basic Gummi ship for free! Just have to move that ship in the First District before it does any damage..."

{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}
[Traverse Town : Inn ~ Green Room]
'Brother, where will you go? Come on, don't leave me here, the other knights won't treat me the same-''All the better, then, right? You'll be Soryuju, not "Vereor's brother"- you'll be able to earn some actual respect. And who knows, one day, you might get tired, too.''Tired? What do you mean?''All in due time, Sory. All in due time.'Soryuju groaned lightly as he turned from his side to laying on his back, his eyes slowly beginning to open, though the grogginess kept them at least half-sealed. The young man yawned, sitting up in his single-sized bed and stretching as he looked around the mostly-green room. Nearby was another bed- where Shugotenshi, Suzuran's and Kuumaru's guardian, slept.
Except, of course, that it was empty and made, as if nobody had slept there at all.
"Uh... Shugotenshi?" Soryuju called out, trying to wipe the dust from his eyes and glance around. The room was still practically pitch black, due to the lack of light from the room and the town outside. Was he even still here? "You here?"

{A heart shed for power is the only heart of worth.}
[Castle Oblivion : Kitchen] The empty marble halls of this Castle-Between, which were normally filled with a deafening silence, rang with the eerie sounds of light humming.
Standing within the abandoned kitchen upon one of the many floors of Castle Oblivion once again was Vereor, the Veiled Gorgon. Garbed in usual, he stood, leaning against the nearby counter, tapping his gloved fingers against the marble tops as if in wait. The tune he was humming was not something cheery, but neither was it something dreadful, either. Rather, it was eerily hollow, lacking any real depth or emotion within its range and melody. It was, in fact, the same melody he'd hummed the day before, in this very same location.
And just as yesterday, two somewhat-large kettles began to whistle in front of him, bringing his humming to a stop; the whistles carried on down the halls for what seemed like an eternity, their high pitched squeal penetrating even the most focused trances.
"Tea's ready," he spoke to nobody in particular- in the same apathetic tone that he'd done the day before, and likely the day before that. One jewel adorning his collar seemed to gleam for a split second, and in that moment, the message was sent to everyone in Castle Oblivion. Regardless of their possible replies, he took the kettles off the stove and placed them on a tray which had a number of cups; he then brought the tray over to a large circular table, having already placed the sugar and other assorted additions there.

[Mitsudo :: Inn :: Green Room]
"What do you want, boy?"
A low growl came from the corner of the room, revealing Mitsudo in a meditative position. His mask was already covering his face, but his eyes were boring holes into the other man's head. It wasn't so much that Mitsudo disliked the guy, he just didn't like anyone approaching Princess Suzuran and Prince Kuumaru. Who the hell did this kid think he was?! He certainly wasn't very high up on the hierarchy ladder. Most likely a foot soldier looking to make his name big.
"I am disappointed in you. I would expect a soldier up well before dawn, ready to go and always vigilant."

[Traverse Town : Inn ~ Green Room]
The young knight once more yawned after Shugotenshi spoke, stretching as he pulled his legs from under the sheets and placed them on the ground. "Considering there's no 'dawn' on this world, the first part is impossible, but you're astute enough to know that yourself, I'm sure."
"As for the 'vigilance', normally I would be, but-" he began, carefully craning his neck left and right in order to pop it; the noise traveled down his spine, and by the suddenly-alert look on his face, it was pretty obvious he hadn't intended to pop his entire back. "The Hotel is one of the few buildings on Traverse Town that is completely safe from any hostile forces of Darkness. Merlin the wizard made sure of that after an attack about a year ago."
"As such, I've taken this rare opportunity to sleep however my body desired," he said, standing and turning on the lights- the only actual source of light for the room, seeing as it was still pitch black outside. With that, he reached for his nearby shirt, slipping it on over his bare form. "After all, every good soldier knows that he should do what he can to remain in the best shape possible, right?"

[NαlΘ]
Somehow Nalo had ended up halfway across the room, upside down. An arm and a leg were on Window's bed, while the rest of him remain rooted on the floor. He rolled over off the bed with a loud thud as the remainder of his body collided with the floor. "Owwwww.....My face." He said, his jaw clicking back into place.
"Merlin!" He said, bounding up and across the room. "G'moooooornin'! That's wonderful!" Nalo chimed with a grin. He twisted his back and stretched his lithe body every which way. His muscles groaned in pain from the exertion yesterday, but were happy to be off the floor.
"I'm thirsty."

[Mitsudo :: Traverse Town :: Inn ~ Green Room]
Mitsudo raised an eyebrow, looking towards Soryuju curiously. "...Merlin? Who the bloody hell is that? Regardless, you say this wizard protects this inn? Well, what of those humanoid members? Will it block them out as well? Or just the giant black creatures?"
Mitsudo activated his gravity magic, suddenly floating upside down. He stared at Sory for a long moment, then said three simple words.
"Who are you?"

˻№ ჯ˳ ʃ Castle Oblivion || Kitchen Ħ ˹The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.˼ "Smells good~" a melodious voice called, its source traceable back to a black-haired beauty adorned in an extravagant furisode. She leaned somewhat temptingly against the doorframe, though seducing an infant was the last thing on her mind. She did find some entertainment, however, in testing the bounds of man's physiological responses, though more often than not, it only made the race as a whole appear more vulgar. Paopu, as always, she chuckled, though there was no trace of malice in her voice; quite fitting, really, as there was none in her intent. "Good morning, child," she chimed, leaving her perch by the entrace for a seat at the table. "Sleep well?" she asked, running a finger along the rim of the porcelain piece, all signs of yesterday's incident over tea cleansed from her face. ˻So it all comes down to what you want. Worms, or cheese.˺

[[Castle Oblivion] .:. [Kitchen]]
A dense smoke billowed into the kitchen shortly before gathering in a chair next to Vereor. The smoke quickly began to take on a whole new form, solidifying and shaping itself into the Demon of the Mist.
With a yawn, he looked over at Vereor's tea, wrinkling his nose in disgust before commenting, "Why is it that people always drink tea? It doesn't make you look fancy or distinguished. Now a pint of meed..."

~.~Thales~.~ ”You can bend it and twist it… You can misuse and abuse it… But even the gods cannot change the Truth.” [Traverse Town ~.~ Traverse Town Inn ~.~ Blue Room]An arm dangled off the side of the bed, the other underneath the pillow his head rest on; one leg warm beneath the thin sheet wrapped around his body, while the other exposed to the cool air in the room. His clothes folded neatly on top of the nightstand, his armor resting upon them, and his boots on the ground beside the stand. Thales' eyes fluttered open as he slowly awoke. He grumbled as he lazily sat up, rubbing his eyes before swinging his feet over his bed and wrapping the sheet around his waist, then walked out onto the balcony overseeing the alleyway behind the inn. Thales leaned over the railing of the balcony, thinking about the events from last night. Once the strange character they had run into them left without responding to his offer of help, Thales also decided to go off on his own in search of the other group with the moogle and the girl and the boy. But prior to leaving, he said his farewells to Baitos, thanking the man for accompanying him, then told him where he'd be staying if he ever wanted to reunite later. Unable to find them, he came to the inn to rest for the evening in hopes he'd have better luck the next day when the sun had risen... obviously, he was completely oblivious to the fact this world had no daytime... Amidst his thoughts, Thales overheard a couple of muffled voices conversing coming from the room next to his. Curiosity getting the better of him, he walked back into the room and pressed his ear against the wall in between the rooms to better hear the voices.
