~~Feanyth Mayosh~~

Silence…

Indeed she was silent. The lessons where finished and she had been in the library ever since the ending of the lessons, reading some history of Europe. She had started reading the history around 1648 about two or three weeks ago, but now she was around the history area of the second world war that roamed those lands.

Along with that she was working on her homework in the same time.

It was strange to see, she was around the same age as certain professors of the university, but she was still a student. She was one of those people who could possibly be a ‘for ever student’. Though she didn’t mind. She found that she was never finished learning about things. When she had learned one thing, she would immediately start with another thing to learn.

Now at the age of twenty-two she was an expert in her element Air, but she was searching again, searching to figure out if she could learn the other elements as well, she wanted to learn it, but at the moment she finds it impossible.
It seems impossible to find the ability to cast several elements, or even an other then just air. Though she was wondering. Rumours where saying that the Headmaster could cast more then just one element, though she never saw him cast any magic, nobody did.

After several hours of reading she also had finished her homework and stood up, placing it all in her shoulder bag and leaving the library in pure silence, closing the door behind her as she left.

Walking towards the dorms she was thinking a lot, as always.

Maybe she could learn something from the magic casted on the university itself. Finding it’s source or even learning it to cast it herself.

Oh how much she craved for learning everything, and become stronger. All simply for one goal and one goal alone. Time would teach if she would ever manage it.

For now she was going to place her books and papers in her room before going to the grass field for some ‘relaxing’.

Silence ensued as Liri looked away from her book and through the glass window. Somehow, maybe because it the moment felt like the old times, when she was here and pouring her heart and soul out to the young Dean who patiently listened. Somehow, she felt like answering, honestly "Too many bad things happened all together, we couldn’t breath and while we suffocated in the despair, our broken hearts never had the chance to fully mend.” Liriale swerved her chair around to face Nic, who had made himself comfortable on the bed, hands nested under his head and he quickly shifted his eyes to the eye chart on the wall. Pretending that he had been studying that subject the whole time, not the other.

“So, with no chance to heal, you put up a barrier, shielding it from any further harm I might put it through.” Nic finally said, his eyes peered towards Liri’s face. Trying like a detective, searching for hints of decipherable emotions. Liriale turned away from Nic’s gaze, he had hit the spot. “Yes, I was hurt by what you did. I never want to feel that pain again.” Liriale said somewhat stubbornly. Nic sighed, “Did you, at any point, consider that I might have been hurt as well, an object in someone’s game, not the actual player?” Liriale frowned and turned to Nic with a quizzical look, “What are you saying?” she asked. Nic sighed, then after a moment in contemplation he asked, “What hurt you the most out all those painful event, which one was the hardest blow?” Nic propped himself up and waited for her answer. Slightly taken aback by this question, Liriale would have, on other accounts ended the conversation there after such a question. One that asked her to relive the events. But Liriale realized what it really meant. A chance to hear Nic out. Something Leah advised her to do.

“When you kissed Cynisca.” She answered after a moment. “I was there, and so was Amir. We both saw you two embrace each other in the courtyard, even if it was dark…we had never kissed, but you kissed Cynisca.”

Nic had to hand it to himself, he must have a high self restraint capacity. He shook thoughts of kissing her right now out of his head. It wasn’t the right moment. “We couldn’t kiss because I was the DEAN of this school and you were a student. I was doing my best to keep to the moral code, and was hoping beyond hope that you would wait for me after you were done with school. What happened with Cynisca was her set up of using Amir to unfortunately get to me.” Nic sighed as he rubbed his forehead.

“Do you think I was happy about that? What do you think I felt when you decided to date Drake?!”

Liri opened her mouth, but quickly closed it. She had never really though of it that way. Nic had been her first love, that is, after she overcame wishing him the most excruciating death ever. It was Nic who was continually sending her to be hospital, where she laid sick for weeks, silently suffering until she recovered her strength and returned back into the normal world, only to awake back in the patient bed because of another incident. Yes, she had hated him. The way he sauntered around the school, greeting everyone, even his happy-go-lucky grin. Every time he reached out his hand towards her, she wished, wished that one day he would go through the pain she did. Looking at his angered expression, Liriale wondered. Maybe her wish did come true, and she, herself had inadvertently caused it. When she accepted Drake.

Frustrated with how one-sided Liri saw the picture, Nic for the first time, lost it. Jumped off the bed, he began to walk around the room, fuming. “I’ll tell you how I felt! Betrayed! Did you accept Drake just to spite me?!? Did all those times here mean nothing to you? Cynisca might have been a little devilish mastermind, but she doesn’t come close to you! You probably thought you were having your revenge for all the times I sent you here, huh! Dammit Liri! I had to do it because you were dangerous! Your power was out of control! And at first I tried to be numb towards what I was doing. Then when I realized that I was condemning you to some sort of punishment, I tried to make up for it. Remember the first time I visited you here, the first time we really talked?” he asked the last part in almost a whisper.

Liriale’s cheeks reddened. How could she ever forget. Drake had recovered and returned to his daily activities leaving her alone in the infirmary. She had been reading a book when Nic came in. Liriale could remember fixing him with a stare that only too well conveyed her dislike of him. But, he had plowed on by handing her a single…”Jasmine.” Liriale whispered, answering his question. Nic had a single white bloom resting in his outstretched hand. A Jasmine flower, the first one that bloomed from a little pot on his desk, the first one of many that followed.

Nic had his back towards her in order to hide his smile. “You wouldn’t take it at first, probably thought it was something poisonous.” He chuckled recalling the several minutes that passed while Liriale eyed the flower suspiciously and Nic’s heart had been anxiously pounding. Finally, a tentative hand reached out to receive the tiny white blossom. “Thank you”, Liri had whispered and for once, let a smile. A smile only Nic saw. His flower was meant as a token of amendment, but it had altered the course of their future.

“Alright, that’s good enough for right now,” thought Nic and he turned around. “Since Jake isn’t available as my opponent, would you like to be my sparring partner? Just like old times?” He asked with a grin. Liri let out a little smile, “Sure, it would be fun, though I feel a little bit bad to fight an old man…but I’ll let you use a your walking stick to make up for it.” Liriale teased.

Kamen’s smile cracked. “OLD!!” he gasped as he ran over to a hanging mirror. “Hmph, at least I’m a good looking fogy.” He pouted then turned around to face. “Shall we go?” he asked with smile. Liriale smiled, “Sure.” She answer, and placed a bookmark of a pressed Jasmine flower in the book she had been reading before rising to her feet and following Nic out of the office.

(meanwhile ~)

Amir anxiously passed up and down the corridor. Thousands of scenes played out in his mind, some with happy conclusions while others entailed a door slammed in his face or worse. “Ahh! I’m getting white hair from all the stress!” Amir sighed dramatically as he pictured Tsuki opening the door, pausing, and shutting it close when she spots the aged, white haired Amir. Just before he lost himself in more dreadful thoughts he heard the door whip open and spun around to find himself facing Tsuki. The sentence that he had practiced over and over found themselves momentarily stuck in his throat.

“I’m sorry! I should have expressed my deep admiration towards you sooner! No one has my heart right now, but you” “Dear god! I sound like some courting noble man or something!” Amir thought horrified. “I mean I like you, ever since we first met. Tsuki, will you go…” For some reason his body was sinking down onto one knee. “Wait a minute! That’s for proposals! Up Up UP!” His mind screamed as he jumped back to his feet. Clearing his throat he tried again. “Will you consider having me as your boyfriend?” he asked, choosing his words careful, though a blush was apparent on his cheeks.

Tsuki froze as she struggled to comprehend what he was saying. 'No one...but...me...' Her mind became numb as she realized his relationship with Phenia was merely friendship, and the statements that followed invoked tears in her eyes. She was so caught up in the realization of her wish that she had not noticed his blunder. His question brought upon a smile that she believed would never disappear. Her blush accompanied his and decorated her smile as she nodded furiously, unable to express her utter joy. Finally, she was able to speak.

"Yes!" she practically screamed as she embraced him in a sudden step, wrapping her arms around his chest. Happy tears ran down her face, feeling how nice his body felt against hers. Her thought were flooded with a plethora of feelings and words, ranging from "love" to "Amir" to "boyfriend" and a combination of everything. Her head lifted after a while so she could look into his eyes, almost dizzy by the thought that she would be able to from this day forward.

"Do not be so sure about that," the Headmaster responded with a smile to Jac's suggestion of the Dean having possession of a greater insanity. Suddenly he looked as if an idea has just been relayed to him, and he turned his gaze from the absent stare it just had to Jac, relaying his information with a smile.

"How would you like to see your old friend in a duel?" he asked him as if the event had been meant just for him. He would have to make an announcement first, however. Before Jacques could answer, the Headmaster rushed his words and started leading him toward the door.

"If you want to see Nicholas, he will be coming out of 2B with Doctor Montoya. That is on the second floor," he said in a rush, opening the door and lightly guiding his out with a steady hand on his back. "Hurry if you want to find him!" he called out before closing the door. His actions were strange, but then again, that was the Headmaster.

~

An announcement rang throughout the school in the Headmaster's jocular voice.

"For those students still present at school, there will be a duel on the school grounds between Doctor Liriale Montoya and Dean Nicolas Kamen. This duel will be the opening ceremony to...well, I shan't spoil it. Attend the event to learn more!"

Ayla perked her head up at the announcement. She had been sitting in the grounds, under her favourite tree in the shade. Getting up, she headed over to one of the benches around the field and sat down, waiting for people to come out and watch.

Shivering slightly, even though it was relatively warm, she looked around and saw students heading in her direction, from around the grounds and from the halls. She felt lonely, since Kieran had dumped her. Not many people had befriended her, since she was an Expert Fire student. Sighing, she wondered whether anyone would sit with her, or that she would be sitting alone again.

Alice had been wandering the grounds for some time, when an announcement was made over an intercom. At first it had startled her; she didn't expect something like that to greet her the very moment she stepped foot on the school grounds. But as she got over the initial shock, her mind began to process the message.

"A duel...?" she asked no one in particular, pondering the words. So there were freelance fights as well? She had never heard of that one before. It even sounded like a fight between professionals. But she supposed that shouldn't be a cause for alarm. The announcement made it clear it was for the opening of a disclosed event. Holding onto her messenger bag, she proceeded to find the exact location of this staged fight. Maybe in the process of getting lost, asking for help and getting lost again, she would be able to make some new friends.

Jacques smirked at the Headmaster with amusement. Alright then, let the games begin. He was beginning to like this off-the-wall school, and let's face it who does like seeing their friends get their butts kicked by their love interest? Jacques then proved why he was one of the top in his ranking, he took off down the hallway, and up the stairs. He had to see the two before the duel began...but he wasn't paying close attention, and ran into Emma, who was racing the same way.
They collided, and he moved, sheltering her from hitting the ground first, causing her to land on him, knocking the air from his lungs. Emma gasped, looking down at her fiance. He had, but-why...She moved in a flash, pulling him to his feet. She was looking down at the ground, "Why? Why are you here...still looking for me? You should've given up by now! Why haven't you?!" She yelled at him, looking like she was close to tears.
"Because, Emma, dear...it was going to happen someday. The Angels, your father, me...we all knew you'd run, but I-" Jacques paused here, "I've been hoping that maybe, just maybe...the girl who said yes to me, years ago still loves me." He looked at her in the eyes, and held her hands softly in his own. "Besides, you still have the ring. It's enough for me to hope."
"Jac...it just doesn't..." Emma tried to protest, but she knew normal logic wouldn't convince him. She wasn't sure if she still knew why she was still running. She had to move on, past the wild family chaos, and yet, even when she was running, he still found her. Maybe fate knew what she was doing, but for now... "I just can't now, Jacques. Besides, it'd be a conflict of interest. You're investiaging the school."
"I'll quit."
"No! Don't...you're one of the best...just...let me think," Emma pleaded, before racing off to find Liriale, or Leah, or just someone whom she could hide beside. She left Jacques standing like she had those years again.
"Damnit!" Jacques cursed, punching the wall. His arm went numb, but he sighed, and resolved to focus on the matter at hand later. He headed up for room 2B. Maybe Nicolas could help him make some sense of all this mess.

User ImageAkira was excited about the new Duel Club or what ever they had called it in the meeting. When she heard the announcement her heart jumped in excitement. This was going to be such a fun expirence. "Gah the only thing that would make my life any better right now would be a boyfriend." She mused out loud. Akira couldn't figure out why she couldn't find love. Maybe she was to forward. But lately she had been quite. It wasn't about beauty. Akira isn't a very conceited person but anyone could see her beauty. She could me a model easily. With her long midnight black hair and deep dark blue eyes. The nose ring she wore was the only thing that would make this occupation impossible. That and the fact that she enjoys her food. She sighed and tugged her hand through her hair. And started to wander around the school grounds looking for where the duel would be headed.
