Zachary yelped, automatically falling onto the ground. He sat up, rubbing the back of his head slightly annoyed. ‘What the heck did I trip over?’ he thought to himself, glancing at the floor to see if there were any stray roots, twigs, or rocks about. Seeing none, he sighed as he slowly got up, dusting off his pants. ‘I’m so klutzy I trip over nothing. Wow. I really shouldn’t fight if there are any more surprise battles…’ he thought to himself, frowning as he scratched the back of his head in boredom.

(ooc - oops, my bad, mixing two different RP characters up, corrected now)
"Zachary." Jeni moaned, as he tripped up, well he was known to be clumsy, but something was wrong, she dashed to him and asked, "You alright?" once she saw he was not hurt she looked around where he was standing.
Yes he's clumsy, but that clumsy? Something is seriously wrong here. she thought as she checked to make sure no one but the group was around.
"Come on." she said, "If Marael is right we might be able to make it to the village without having to rest." she walked back to the group, and had an idea, "Marael, are any of these berries or fruits edible?" she asked

Zachary blinked before laughing nervously. “Yeah, yeah! I’m fine, don’t worry,” he replied giving Jeni a weak and somewhat phony grin. He quickly pocketed his hands and glanced back at the floor, just double-checking to see if he really had tripped over thin air. ‘Wow. I really am a klutz,’ he thought to himself frowning, as he found nothing on the ground again.

 There are no such things as coincidence.Valerye shrugged at the silence that answered her question. Watching Zachary fall over nothing but thin air, her suspicions rose. Keeping her opinions to herself, she continued walking. Hopefully they were all protected enough. Valerye rubbed her sore eyes with the back of her hand. She was not expecting this when she got on the bus this morning. There is only hitsuzen

Marael whirled around as she heard a thump behind her, her sword already halfway out of its sheath before she realized it was just one of the younger kids....Zachary?....tripping. She quickly sheathed the weapon, feeling foolish and jumpy.
"Running from shadows." She muttered to herself, shaking her head. She kept her knife drawn, though. Gabe twitched his tail in agreement, hsi golden eyes searching the forest warily, nostrils flaring for the hint of a scent.
Marael looked up at Jeni as she called a question and nodded. "Some of them are edible and some are not. Do not consume anything without asking me first...some of these plants are very...unhealthy. That blue one by Valerye is good, but I would not suggest you eat too many." She pointed at the small cluster of bright blue fruits at Valerye's left. Marael glanced around, the hairs on her neck tingling, although she couldn't say why. She made a frustrated sound. She wasn't used to Bredia woodlands. Had she been back at home in Wisitia she would have been able to tell what was following them easliy. Here was completely different, and she didn't like it.

Emmia barely held in a snicker as she witnessed the reactions to the boy's fall, his confusion amused her. She'd moved and now stayed slouched beneath the shelter of a bush that bore fruit, but immediately wished she hadn't picked this one. As Mareal proceeded to answer the question of edible berries she had, hopefully without knowing it, referred to the very bush the Bredian elf hid within. Now she was nervous. The berries that inhabited the bush were the safer ones to eat, and all Emmia could do was hope they wouldn't look to deeply within it's leaves. Her blade staff was still in hand, but there was no way to move it into any kind of stance without making the leaves ruffle. Frustrated, she remained inhumanly still, holding her breath even, as she waited for their action. But a plan formulated in her mind and she silently snapped her fingers. And as if she'd struck a match, a small flame now danced on her finger tip. Now she waited...

"Edible fruit? Thank god!" Valerye muttered. The fruit definitely felt good. She couldn't describe it, but she sort of knew that they were safe to eat after she picked one. It tasted different from what Valerye was used to, but it was better than nothing. As she reached for another one, her hair snagged on a branch. There is only hitsuzen

((This shall be interesting... I was going to set the bush on fire, but now that seems like a little much... lol.))
As Valerye reached for berries, Emmia's body tensed, thinking she would surly notice the shadow within. When she didn't, Emmia let out her breath in releif, but only to tense up once more as the girl's hand came back. But this time Emmia watched as she caught her long hair on one of the branches. Now was her chance. Using her quick reflexes, Emmia quickly moved forward and latched her arm around Valerye's shoulder with her lit hand beneath the girl's chin. She held out her blade staff to keep the others at a distance. Her eyes shifted from their usual orange to a deep crimson as she faced the group, keeping Valerye still.
"Well isn't this a peculiar scene. A foreign elf traveling with... outsiders, who all happen to be heading to Bredia's largest village. At night, no less. Now what could a guardian of the village possibly presume this meant?" she said with a humorless grin, just loud enough for all of them to hear her.
((I know this might be a stretch, so if you guys don't like it, just tell me and I'll change it up. Just thought I'd make things interesting.))

Karariv glared at the new elf, "It's complicated," she said, still in her stance, "Taking a hostage is really unnessecary, we won't start a fight, however that doesn't mean we won't defend ourselves if we're attacked." she paused wondering what this elf would do next.

Cursing softly, she wondered if she could hit the elf with her staff, but disregarded the thought, since her staff lay at her feet. "Heh. I wonder if my fellow classmates would actually safe me." She pondered out loud. Valerye didn't know if they would actually abandon her, but she didn't mind. "I would have liked to die on a full stomach, truthfully." she sighed.

Marael saw what looked like a small flame in the heart of the bush and had already started walking forward when another elf jumped out and grabbed Valerye. Marael stopped, about three paces away, and drew out her sword in a blinding flash, holding it pointed at the other elf over Valerye's shoulder. Her right hand still held the knife, but now it was turned over and ready to throw. Her eyes shifted to a dangerous red color as well. She stared hard at the elf, her eyes suddenly cold.
"Let go of the girl and step away." She said in a low voice, her usually musical tones icy. She saw Gabe moving behind the elf stealthily, but didn't acknowledge him. She didn't want to look at Valerye either, afraid of the memories that might surface. Instead, she locked eyes with the elf, ignoring the girl and cat completely. "We are looking for shelter in your city, nothing more." She gave a small humorless laugh. "If I wanted to ambush you, I wouldn't take this route, it's too often used." She stared at the elf, her sword less than a foot away from her face and Valerye's shoulder, tense and waiting.

Emmia stared right back, unafraid of the elf before her despite the proximity of her sword. But all the same, she released the girl without breaking eye contact with Mareal. She'd noticed the panther's movement and decided against snuffing out her flame just yet. However, she did lower her blade staff and made no hostile movements. Her eyes were already flickering back to orange, but crimson still surrounded the edges of the iris. She smiled a little, then bent low in a bow. The ties and twists of beads and braids in her hair fell forward, hiding her face. While still bent over she spoke.
"Then I do apoligize for my mistake, in hopes of being forgiven." she said, but as she straightened her expression showed her sincerity. She brushed back her silver silk-like hair to reveal her eyes that had now changed to a light shade of green as she looked from Mareal to Valerye and back again. "You must understand, things have not been well in these lands lately. As a guardian of the city I've been informed not to trust anyone who wishes to enter after dark. If it is shelter you seek, then let it be me that provides it for you."

There are no such things as coincidence.Sighing with relief, Valerye picked up her bo staff. "I can only speak for myself, but I would love food and shelter." Valerye's brain was on strike, and she didn't want to take the time to figure out why there were things wrong in the land, or why she could tell that the strange land was different. Something just didn't feel right.
((This Monday, I'll be gone for two weeks because I'm going on a vacation. Does anyone want to take Valerye over?)) There is only hitsuzen
