You've got to follow the point of the joke, Icrat. Just think of the hobos as smelly Santa Clauses. They wouldn't hurt you, they would just take you to a restaurant. Think about it some more.

Okay, you got the general idea. It was a trick question. They wouldn't order anything because they wouldn't have any money. You could buy the food for them, but you weren't planning on it.
Here's a similar riddle:
"Two muggers approach you. You take them to a back alley. What do you steal?"

I guess they could have beards. I'm not sure how you would steal them, but nothing is impossible.
Mugs? Like goblets? Maybe if they were drinking some hot cocao at the time of robbery.
