((lol...ish okie..and umm...@__@ ish long...and gomen neh for the short post))

Beatriz looks at Rainer "I thought we should meet up with the Balamb headmaster as soon as we arrived here?" she asked.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 22, 2007 9:49 am

((Well damn...that was unexpected. I suppose it can be worked around though. >=) I highly doubt you'll be in the room by yourselves when you speak with the headmaster.))

"Hrm..." James was watching Rainer closely. As the approached Balamb Garden, she had become even more fidgety, quiet, and uneasy. Something was bothering her a great deal, although he didn't know what. He would just have to keep an eye on her, "So...I will excuse myself."

James wandered off, having once already visited the Garden and knowing where he needed to go. He left the garage and found himself standing in Balamb's inner ring. To the right was the Balamb Dorms, the left was training. Further left was the main entrance to Balamb, and the elevator to the Headmaster's office.

So he headed in that direction, passing several SeeD as he did so. He waved as is courtesy; some of them passing in hushed whispers for recognizing him. He quickly made it to the Elevator and pushed the third floor button. Cling, Cling, the elevator doors opened and he was met by the Headmaster's secretary.

"Excuse me sir," She said calmly, "Do you have business here?"

"I do." James replied, "James Gunnar, Rank A SeeD of Esthar Garden. I'm with a small group of students that was to deliver a message to the Headmaster. I wanted to speak with him first."

"Oh!" The secretary supplied in a bit of shock, "Please, proceed." She pushed the button next to a speaker on her desk, "Headmaster, James Gunnar is here to see you."

A voice came back from over the speaker, "Please, send him in."

James walked over to the office door and knocked for courtesy. He then entered as was instructed. He was met at the door by the Balamb Headmaster, a young man of good stature and build. He looked strong; he looked powerful. But all the same, he was a kind man.

"James!" The Headmaster spoke first, "It's been a long time!"

James bowed and then straightened up, "Yes, Headmaster, it has."

Isaac had still been dozing in the vehicle, so he stepped out slowly. He had no idea what had actually happened since then. He shook his head and looked at Mimi, "So, what's the plan?" He noticed James was gone then, "And where's James?"

||Well, if it's a bit much, I can change it. redface ||

Rainer shook her head at Beatriz.
"Didn't you hear James? He wanted to speak to the headmaster himself." Rainer's eyes followed James as he left the garage. He had been watching her and she wondered if he suspected something. Frowning, Rainer dismissed the thought and turned back to Isaac.
"James wants to speak to the headmaster before us, while we go get rooms." Rainer sighed and crossed her arms with a huff. "We get to see our rooms while he does our mission for us; where's the point in that?"
Rainer sighed and resumed a fetal position, though keeping her head up.
"Are you ready yet, Mimi?" Rainer's voice was tired and slightly strained. The three words wouldn't be cast from her mind:
Kill Balamb's Headmaster.
Rainer ran over the plans in her mind as she thought:
After the deed was done, she would have to radio the headmaster back in Esthar and then hide in the Training Center until someone came to pick her up.
Hopefully, it'll be that easy...

"Sorry..I've been spacing out for a while and didn't hear what he said" she sigh. She noticed that Rainier had been quiet and gets irritated so easily. Maybe she's just tired she thought.

((OoC: Haha. Not at all! I rather like the plot twist! Very Final Fantasy! Haha. wink ))

Mimi glanced up. A strange feeling had passed over her. One that she usually received before somebody tried to bash her head in or run her through with a sword. Shaking her head to clear herself of the hazy feeling, she noticed Rainer fingering the blade of her sword. A fighter's motion. Passing that notice into the back of her head for safe keeping like any trained and practiced SeeD member, Mimi nodded.

"The point of it is that I have a feeling James and the Headmaster - however young he may be - are old acquaintances. And if so, then I'm sure they have much to talk about." Mimi had to bite back the ferocity in her words. She was often short-tempered with those who were short-tempered with herself.

"And yes, I'm ready." She turned around without another word, leading the other's from the garage. As they reached Balamb's inner ring, Mimi turned towards the left towards the dorms. Entering the archway that signaled the dorms, they traveled down a rather long hall, half of which appeared to be connected to the outdoors. Passing a courtyard with no ceiling, Mimi entered the dormitories.

Approaching the clerk there, she smiled and picked up four keys - two of which led to conjoining chambers. Continuing to lead the others, she passed her dorm room and stopped at the door across from it. Turning around, she unlocked the door, opened it, and handed the key to Isaac. "This'll be your temporary quarters." Gesturing to a door within, she waved another key in the air but tucked it back into a pocket in her shorts. "The other door leads to James' room."

Turning around, she approached a door right beside her own. Unlocking it and handing the key to Rainer, she turned around to face her. "This'll be yours." Pointing to two doors within, she mentioned quietly,"The room is adjoined to mine, as well as Beatriz's. In case you need anything." Unlocking the other door, she quickly handed the key to Beatriz. "And this shall of course be your room." With a sigh, she stretched and glanced at the others. "Now, unless you need to get situated, how's we go visit the Headmaster?" Unconciously, she shifted the rather large blade she had hung over her shoulder and across her back, still carrying it with her.

((I have to agree with Yaku-Chan. It's good...it just makes my life hard. That's all.))

Mimi was indeed correct about the relationship between James and the Balamb Headmaster. Alister Sonestark, better none as Headmaster Sonestark or just Headmaster, and James joined SeeD at the same time, having planned it out so that they would be able to. Alister was just a few months older, but he chose to wait for the SeeD examine so that he could take it with his old battle buddy. After completion of their SeeD Exam, both of them having received unprecedented marks, the two were given a rank so high that they had to be transfered from Balamb. Eventually, Alister was transfered back to Balamb when he was offered the teaching job by his father.

The two of them only talked for a short time, but it covered the many long months that it had been since James had last visited Balamb. It also covered the message that Rainer and Isaac were supposed to deliver. James had a sneaking suspicion that something was not right, and made this apparent to his friend. Alister, however, brushed it off. If someone was indeed trying to assassinate him, they would not find it so easy.

James was visibly tired, but he refused Alister's proposal when he offered him a room. He wanted to be present when Rainer gave her message. He couldn't really put a finger on what...but he knew something wasn't right.

"Fine," Alister finally conceded, "you can stay. But if I have to protect your sorry behind because you're too tired to fight, I swear I'll figure out a way to make you pay for it."

James just smiled a bit and said, "I'm sure. But until then, it doesn't matter. I think Rainer, Isaac, and Beatriz should be here shortly with Mimi in the lead. You know, this is a first time thing for those three, visiting Balamb Garden."

"So I've been told," Alister answered, sitting back down in the chair behind his desk, "So I've been told."

Rainer had the sneaking suspicion that people saw her getting fidgety. The thought made her feel desperately lonely, but once again, her feelings of doubt and hesitance were smothered by the powers of the Sorceress, who kept constant vigil over her mind.
Rainer's shoulders slumped. She had no power here. There was nothing she could do now. The Sorceress was much too powerful.
Dear Hyne... Rainer thought miserably.
A jolt of pain shot through Rainer, though she hid it well. The Sorceress didn't like thoughts of Hyne, hm?
Watching distractedly as Mimi gave Beatriz and Isaac their keys, Rainer bit her lip and took the key Mimi offered her.
"Thanks," she mumbled. "We should get going."
The gunblade at Rainer's side suddenly felt very heavy.
Rainer quailed mentally from the power and force of the Sorceress.
There were so many things that could go wrong tonight: Guards, delays, James. The name felt like a slap on the face. Guilt overwhelmed her and she asked the Sorceress,
How can I defeat James? He's so much stronger than I am...
don't worry, dear one, the Sorceress crooned. you will have my power.
The thought did not reassure Rainer, but she kept a tranquil expression on her face as Mimi led them to the elevator.

As Mimi led them to the elevator, she hesitated only a moment before pushing the button for the third floor, which led to the Headmaster's office. As the elevator whirred down and the doors slid open, Mimi stepped inside with the others, feeling slightly confined. She shifted her blade on her back, only then wondering why she had brought it with her.

As the elevator traveled up, a sense of foreboding passed over her and left just as suddenly as it had come. The elevator doors slid open and Mimi stepped inside. She nodded to the receptionist, who it appeared was just leaving for break. So it would only be herself and the others with the Headmaster - along with James of course.

"Could you guys wait here?" Mimi gestured to some armchairs before strolling towards the wooden, and elaborate office doors. Knocking, she stepped inside. Shutting the door behind her, she stood at ease, or so it appeared. "Hello again, James. Headmaster." She reached into her pocket casually and tossed James the extra key. "This is just in case you decide you'd like a room." Turning back to the Headmaster, she nodded in greeting. "Sir. The other's are here. But . . . I'm guessing James may have already passed on their message? I'm sure they would still like to speak to you. Uhm . . . did you want to speak to them individually, or all at once?"

The Headmaster glanced at her, his stature all-together nonchalant. "I'll take them all in." As Mimi turned to leave and beckon the others, he spoke quickly. "If I may, I request that you remain in the room with me." Mimi nodded and opened the door.

"You guys can come in now." She was rather glad the office was so spacious as she held the door open for the others. The room was larger than even some of their classrooms they used for training. Which was saying something.

James leaned against Alister's desk, facing the door. As Mimi turned back to it and had caught the room key, he readied several spells in his mind in the off chance that he needed them. There was an ominous force over the entire third floor of Balamb Garden, and it was tied into Rainer. He just couldn't figure out an exact way to tell. In time, though, in time he was sure that everything would make sense.

He kept a hand on his sword, the Titan Blade, and watched Rainer, Isaac, and Beatriz on the other side of the threshold. Isaac seemed and Beatriz seemed fairly calm, even with it being their first trip to such a large garden. Rainer though, she was fidgety, nervous, and looked almost paranoid. His eyes rarely left her.

Beatrice just tossed the key in her pocket, she was glad Mimi gave her a room for herself. She would have slumped in her room, yes she's tired and haven't got any decent sleep at all, how weird it may sound but when Mimi told them that they'll see the headmaster she felt as if she's energized again.

They were outside the Headmaster's room when Mimi told them to wait for her outside while she steeped inside the room Hmm..I think she's going to tell the headmaster that we're here. She smiled when Mimi opened the door and motioned them that they could enter the room.
She noticed that James is already in the room So they're really close she thought as she let her eyes roam around the room. She glanced at Rainier who seemed so occupied with something else and then scolding herself she diverted her glance back to the Headmaster.

||That was your shortest post yet, Maker. biggrin ||

Entering the headmaster's office, Rainer felt a sudden calm steal over her. Although inside she was still slightly nervous, the Sorceress helped control her nerves and boosted her confidence. Unconsciously, Rainer trailed her fingers over the hilt of her gunblade. She readied her Guardian Force Siren in her mind, silently pleading with the GF not to abandon her. Siren spread her beautiful voice throughout Rainer's mind, calming her, assuring her.
Rainer stepped in front of the headmaster and bowed low.
"Headmaster," she said clearly, still bowed. "I'm sure James has already told you of our mission." Here, Rainer straightened up and met the Headmaster's cool eyes with her own green ones.
As she straightened, Rainer felt the Sorceress' power closing over her. In a mere moment, the Sorceress seized control of Rainer's body. Her eyes slightly darkened, and her posture relaxed slightly, but otherwise appeared unchanged.
Rainer, however, could only watch through her eyes as the Sorceress controlled her body. At the moment, the Sorceress made Rainer's body still and waiting, but the attack would come at any moment... right?

(( xp I was slightly brain dead at the time.))

James did as Rainer did, although me may not have known she was readying Siren. Only he could hear the faint sound of train horns off in the distance, signaling the passing of Doomtrain. If it were necessary, Doomtrain would enter the battle that James knew was soon to come.

He noticed Rainer's eyes darken and her posture change. Was it the work of some kind of magic? Was she really going to be the one to attempt the Headmaster's life? But why her? There were so many questions that he needed answered, but he feared that he would not get the information he wanted for some time. It was extremely frustrating.

He shifted slightly in his leaned position to give himself a better launch point. A better launch point meant a better defense and offense, so he'd be able to interrupt Rainer if he needed. If it was Esthar Garden's plan to take the life of Alister Sonestark, they made a terrible mistake in sending James of all people to "supervise" the murder.

"I did tell them why we're here, Rainer." James answered her, "But you have to remember that I don't know what 'message' you had for the Headmaster."

James had put emphasis on the word message as a warning to Alister. He had picked up on something wrong, so Alister stood up. Alister's own weapon resided beside his desk. He was another Gun Blade user, one of the most powerful weapon types out there.

"He speaks the truth." Alister finally spoke, "He does not know what message you have for me, and he is as curious as I am concerning what it is."

((Does this post make up for the shortness of the other? sweatdrop ))

|| biggrin I suppose it does! Though it's still not as long as usual. blaugh ||

they know, hissed the Sorceress' voice through Rainer's mind. such evil little men, such evil little seedlings.
"The message," the Sorceress said quietly, "is that Esthar Garden will do anything in its power to see the Galbadian Army overthrown." Rainer's mouth stretched into a cold grin. The Sorceress made Rainer's body pace back and forth slowly, not meeting anyone's gaze.
"You see, Headmaster, the Galbadian Army has not been idle these past sixty years as everyone has thought. They've been biding their time, building up their resources until they built a nearly unstoppable army." Rainer's body stopped pacing and she turned to the Headmaster. Her darkened green eyes pierced the headmaster's.
"Alister," she said, not bothering to speak formally. Who cared? "You have no idea at what ends the Galbadians will go to to see the Gardens destroyed. Why, they'd even..."
Here, the Sorceress pulled out Rainer's gunblade with a cold smile. Rainer's face was not suited for such cold expressions, and so looked evil. The Sorceress ran a gloved finger over the whorls and swirls etched on the blue, see-through sword blade. Rainer's eyes raised and met James' gaze.
"They'd even bring a Sorceress back into the living realm."
That was when the Sorceress moved. She threw up her blade and pointed it at James and squeezed off ten rounds at the man, knowing they probably wouldn't connect. She threw up her other arm and blasted a bolt of black energy at the Headmaster. A barrier erected itself around Mimi, Beatriz and Isaac. The Sorceress would deign only to fight James and Alister.

((OoC: Obsidian, I wasn't sure if you preferred Mimi and the others to remain in the barrier. sweatdrop If that's the case, I would happily change the post for you. Sorry for any trouble. xd ))

The moment that Rainer began to pace and Mimi heard the tone that she was speaking in, she knew something was wrong. Her hand reached for her blade's hilt. Even though Rainer's words stunned her, Mimi was prepared for her sudden actions. Without hesitation, Mimi's blade was drawn and she slashed down in front of her, but the blade connected with a barrier.

A hiss of annoyance escaped her and Mimi stepped back. Holding her hand out, she shouted,"Dispel!" It seemed that Rainer, or whoever was controlling her, only wanted to fight James and Alister. But no. It was Mimi's duty to protect her Headmaster. Alistar was her charge. She had grown up in Balamb Garden, defending it's grounds, it's people, it's members, it's Headmaster. She was not going to let some megolomanical Sorceress or anyone else jeopardize it's well-being.

Mimi slashed out with her blade, and once again it connected with a barrier. A shout of frustration escaped her and her eyes burned with rage as fury began to tear through her. On instinct, Mimi reached for Bahamut in the back of her mind. His roar strengthened her and fed the rage that was billowing through her. Raising her blade in one hand and raising the other hand beside her, she placed it on the barrier. Shutting her eyes, she opened them and with an almost amusing quiet, she whispered the spell. "Dispel." At the same moment, her blade came crashing down on the barrier. It was at that moment that first her hand, then her arm, and finally, her whole-being slipped through the barrier.

Swinging her blade around onto her shoulder, the blunt edge facing out, Mimi advanced on Rainer. She did not take kindly to being hindered from performing her duty.
