My friend made me sit down and watch Kyle XY the other week and all i did was mark down the similarities between the two and it makes me sick that people like Kyle XY but don't like Smallville....

I had a fight with another friend on how Kyle XY was a total rip off. She was like
"It is not a rip off because the girl on the show has powers too"
I was like
"Have you ever heard of Supergirl? She is from Krypton too and she has powers as well"

And ofcourse with the other girl coming in just like Kyle that was exactly like SMALLVILLE. Kyle XY had great potential in being the next SMALLVILLE. But it completely failed at the end of season one.

I don't know, Kyle xy is a great show, and I really like it, but so is Smallville.
I think I'm going to have to say Kyle is better for a few reasons:
1) He's super smart. SO much smarter than Clark.
2) He pretty much has the same, powers. (super strength, speed, uber tough)
3) I HATE WAITING FOR CLARK TO GET ALL OF HIS POWERS! After reading a LOT of superman comics, I know of all of Clarks powers. And it took him SO long to get most of them. Meanwhile, there've been hints to him flying since season one, and Clark has never done it, but Kal-El has! How LAME is that?!?
4) The drama is SO much worse! Actually... they have about the same amount... "Clark, I love you, but you won't tell me your secret, so I'll find out on my own!"
"Kyle, I love you, but you won't tell me your secret, so I'll find out on my own!"
yeah, pretty much the same.
5) The actor is a better fit to his age. Tom Welling was too tall from the beginning. He's what, 6'4"? As a freshman? And then he doesn't grow again? That's not how things work. Kyle is about 5'10" as a junior. That's more realistic.
6) Clark Kent is WAY too hot. In the comics, he was always SO geeky, never attractive to Lois, but in Smallville, they're always checking eachother out! Lame, he's not supposed to be that attractive. And if they do plan or him to be unattractive at one point, when will it be, and how will he make the transition?
7) Clark NEVER chooses a girl! One moment i't Lana, then it's Chloe, then back to Lana for a couple season, on to Lois for a bit, then back to Chloe, the back to Lana... he might as well fall in love with Lex, his mom, and Lionel, just to make sure he's dated everyone on the show! Meanwhile, Kyle is in love with his next door neighbor, and they get together! That's that! No messing around, just straight and to the point.

I know it's not portrayed very well in SV's rubbish writing, but SV is ostensibly a pre-Superman show about how Clark becomes the superhero we read about in the comics. One of the things they have got right is showing a realistic development arc for his powers -- not only does he develop new ones as he ages and grows (as in the comics), but they get more powerful over time (as in the comics). Compare superjumps from season one and season six, and heat vision from "Heat" and "Prototype" for examples. This is actually well-done on SV's part -- if they had started Clark off with all his powers, there would be no potential for character evolution. It also, and I know they've never really taken advantage of this, but the point stands, it also gave them an opportunity to give Clark the kind of challenges that he never has in other adaptations without massive depowering or kyrptonite overkill (haha, because we're not familiar with that). As for the flying: I'm actually kind of interested by the idea that Clark is physically capable of flying, but has all these inhibitions. I just wish SV would explore that more thoroughly and not act like Clana is a valid reason for Clark not to develop further. HephaestusOS 5) The actor is a better fit to his age. i guess
those are all valid points, both of you
i now like them about equal
but, clark and chloe almost happend, it could have happened, and they hinted at it SO often! in the christmas episode where lex goes into the future, clark and chloe are together! and lois and clark (wait, weren't they those famous explorers?) were together for at least one episode i know that. and when she kissed him, while he was pretending to be green arrow, they BOTH liked it!
and it mostly HAS been lana, which is why i'm so sick of them as a couple! i just wish he could have NOT gone back in time when he proposed to her and she died. then, he would be heartbroken and angsty about her death instead of not being able to be with her.
i also do like smallvile better for one other thing:
the JLA! they hint at it ALL THE TIME! it's awesome! and i love how they bring other super heroes into the show a lot! except, i am rather disappointed in martian manhunter so far... but he's still pretty badass.
and i'm still really pissed at oliver because he's such a d*****bag. grrrrrrrrrr... anyway.
you guys have swayed me and smallville is now my top show.
hoorah, i can't wait till it comes back on.
but i'm pissed that chloe's probably going to be (spoilers) dead for the next season!
anyway...
i'm no longer such a big kyle xy fan, especially after the episode tonight.

Clark and Chloe had a little thing in the beginning until Clark abandoned her to save Lana. Clark and Chloe kiss just about every season but it doesn't compare to Lana's powers.
Who's Lois? With Lana around, no such thing as a Lois Lane in these parts.
If Lana died, then Clark would never be superman. No, he would be on the couch watching reruns of Spirit.
Smallville is a good show... with the exception of Lana.

I don't think Clark and Chloe are ever going to hook up now. The writers seem to be making a concerted effort to put that in SV's past. And for the record, I don't think that "Lexmas" ever stated or even implied that Clark and Chloe were together in Lex's drug-induced coma fantasy. In fact, what Clark said about not being able to give himself to a relationship in that same drug-induced coma fantasy negates that idea. neutral And Chloe's not dead. Why does everyone think Chloe's dead? She just got a new arc; it makes no sense to kill her off. SaberFireTiger No, he would be on the couch watching reruns of Spirit. Hey! I liked "Spirit".
