Hello there, gents.
The name's Julia, but you can call me Deus. I fell in love with steampunk after being introduced to it in a video game, of all places. I loved the steampunk city and always would go there just to look at the gears turning as they powered a giant clock. I researched the topic that same day, and was absolutely fascinated by every aspect of it.
I look forward to delving more deeply into this world, and to meeting you all.

Hello, another new member of the guild as well as a new member of Gaia! 23, living in central New York, illustrator, graphic designer, photographer... general artist of sorts who got into steampunk via the literature that inspires the culture as well as the overall aesthetic; technology and science juxtaposed with a classic Victorian flair? Yes, please.

My current project involving steampunk is a costume for an airship pirate. That's in real life, but of course I am slowly working on my avatar as well! I will be sure to post my findings as well as my progress! It's good to be here.

Greetings! I'm Solar, a 21 year old girl from the state of Maine. I've been interested in steampunk since high school, but I suppose my love for it goes even further back to when my mom read me the Golden Compass when I was a child. biggrin With the release of the TM here on Gaia, my attention was called to this lovely guild, so here I am! I look forward to chatting with all of you.

I want to learn more about steam and eventually get a few steamfashion outfits together. heart

Greetings!

While I am called TheSteamPunk on most forums and communities I join, (And Sir Andrew on the Steampunk Forum) I'm afraid I had to settle for this hogo of a name.

I was first introduced to a love of things old and steam-driven by the Thomas the Tank Engine series, when I was very young. Over time, it manifested itself into a liking of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, and I finally learned the name after purchasing the "Rise of Legends" videogame.

While I don't dress the part, I DO have a monocle, (I really should have tried to buy off the rest of that costume...) and I love the Steampunk design.

Allo, allo. My name is TempusBliss. Most people call me by the name alone, but you can call me Temp or by my persona for the guild: Gertrude Serafina "Mississippi" Finch.
I had interest in Steampunk when I started to look at other science fiction genres with the suffix -punk. It wasn't fanatical until I met Phyllis Fogg a few months ago.
I personally think that Steampunk is a very wonderful genre to be addicted to...

Hello !

I've always had an interest in history and period fashion. I was into being an archaelogist for some time ( until the love of art took precedence ^^; ) I only really start finding out about steampunk when I was entranced by the environment in Last Exile (anime) and started checking up for stuff that were similar.
I'm definitely interested in finding out more about the Victorian era and exploring the possibility of advance (and eco friendly!) steam machines. xD

One of these days, I'd love to do a steampunk project of some sort on my own. Starting really simple with, perhaps, a pair of lovely iconic brass goggles. From then on, who knows? >3

Hey "gents" what's up?

The name's ZombieJeff, or Zjeff, Or just Jeff, or whatever you want to call me. I'm not so picky.

Any-who, I suppose my interest in steam pack traces back more directly to a fascination with general mechanics, particularly gears. From there it expanded, and, lets face it, smoke stacks are just classy.

Some other info thats worth noting is that I am currently studying to become a video game designer, and trying to reach a level of artistic skill known as "passable". Additionally, I'm a big fan of the table top RPG series "World of Darkness" and a player of the miniatures game "Warmachine" (running Magnus' Agenda is the only way to play).

Well, hope to see you all around!

'ello all!
Well, to start off, I am Gingersnap, but you can call me Gin if it tickles your fancy.
Apparently I've been addicted to SteamPunk for a very long time, but didn't really know it. Ive always love H G Wells, along with League of Extraordinary Gentleman, and the likes, but I never realized they were categorized like this. And even more to my surprise, there was fashion based on it. I stumbled across the SteamPunk thread over in the LSD, and fell in love all over again.
And that is what brings me here.

Hello everyone. heart My name is Starlit Revolver, but I also go by Cel, Celly, Star, Revolver, or even Hey You.

I've been in love with Steampunk since I knew there were genres with the suffix -punk! I love Cyberpunk as well, but Steampunk seems like you can do more with it.

I play World of Darkness as well, preferring to play mortals over the supernatural templates. I also love Exalted, and Kobolds Ate My Baby! I'm going to be working on a Steampunk mod for WoD very soon.

I make jewelry--admittedly, of a more modern bent, at least lately. I do make jewelry to order, if anyone is interested. wink

I also knit and read voraciously.

It's lovely to meet you all~ heart

PostPosted: Sat Jan 26, 2008 7:30 pm

Hello all! You can call me Fii. It's short.

As for how I got into Steampunk.... I was 18 and starting to branch into "that Gawth thing", much to the chagrin of my mom and stepdad. However, after almost 4 years, they've realized that I'm not going to do anything stupid, so they dont mind it so much now. And since I still live at home, as a college student, they kinda have to get used to it.

ANYWHO, I love the look of some Gothic fashions, especially when designers add a touch of Victorianism to their works. Corsets especially, I love the look when they're done right and really flatter the wearer. Steampunk is something slightly new to me, but a Futuristic Victorian style? Hey, we've got "Cyber Goth", so Steampunk should be added right to the mix. It looks insanely cool, some of the styles, and the props just make my jaw drop. To own some of the clothing or items..... ::: Dances giddy-like :::
