when i was in 6th grade, we (trumpets) were on risers. i was at the very edge (cuz i was 1st chair). any way i was moving around in my chair and one of the legs slipped off the edge and i came tumbling down. everything at that moment froze in my head. i came to a few seconds later only to hear complete laughter from a band hall filled with about 70 people. even the band director burst out laughing. i still get ripped on cuz of that.

one embarrassing moment was when our 2003 drum major was late to practice. but it wasnt the being late part, it was the way she came to practice. the band was sitting on the grass stretching, and like five minutes later, she walked out from behind the bleachers with her boyfriend. she didnt say anything, she just sat down and started stretching with us.

another embarrassing moment (not for me, of course) was near the end of marching season, the band was doing a run through of our show and our bd wanted to get a higher view to see and hear wat it was like. old bd started going up the bleachers (yes, they are the same bleachers). about four or five steps from the top, the bar just broke in half, releasing our fragile bd to the bottom. his knee was gushing blood, so we thought he should get to a hospital, but he simply said, "no ill be fine, just get me a band aid"

We had just gotten through playing in an assembly and I taking my pep band shirt off, cuz I had just put it over my regular one. Well, both shirts got stuck over my head because I forgot to unbutton the pep shirt, and I ended up stumbling around and flashing everyone my bra for a few minutes before I got my arms free.
Also, this big metal doohicky that seperates the double doors fell out and whacked me on my head. Twas painful.

hum the most embarrassing thing i can remember doing is performing with our 10 ft ballad flags lets just say no one in our guard had control of them when it got windy eveyone got twisted in them! But my senior moment will be that during a performance i remember hitting my glasses off and then they got marched on and we decided to go watch some bands yeah its kinda hard with only one lens!

Gah, I had just had my vaccinations a few days before going to the 'big' festival, where I live. And I was the top, bestest trumpet player we had. Now, I'm not boasting, its just a matter of fact. Anyway, I was sick all over the place, so here I was, Sitting on stage, when suddenly, in the middle of our march, I get the urge to puke. And my Tylenol was in my purse....on the bus...at our hotel...So I can't play anymore, because, I know if I do, I'll end up puking right into my own instrument. Which would be really gross... So, I faked it...through the next, and rest 3 pieces. Then as I was running back through the hallways, eager to get the the bus and my medicine....I passed them... I won't mention the school name, but you know the type. Rich, snobby, uppity, schools who can afford band uniforms and new instruments and drum mallets (comes from a out-back-teeny-tiny-poor school) Anyway, they all laughed and mocked me...I hate that. I was have a reaction... I wasn't nervous, I don't get nervous....

When I squeaked during our Concert Festival performance. Or when I tried to start early on my solo.
I'm sure for my director tho it was when he got all of the low brass to play durning the sight reading part of Concert Festival and the judges told him he couldn't do that. lol
I heart my band tho.

How about when the whole band has an embarassing moment?
We were in Disney World for our trip two weeks ago, and we were doing this song called Ireland. It's a really neat song, but most of us know the thing inside out. We had done it many times before, and I was even getting this crazy bass clarinet line down really well. There's this part where some of the band is resting, and there's a tin whistle and sax and flute solo thingy in there, and the rest of the band is background. Well, something happened, and the whole band stopped playing at the same time, except the tom part in percussion. It was like, spontaneous tom solo. Our BD starts singing the part to us, and there was a mic right behind her. No one really knows what happened...I think that our BD went into the 5/4 bar too early....and we had a fair audience, too. ((we were on stage))

Whenever we sing happy birthday to someone as a whole... one time we did it after a choir tryout for the national anthem (for homecoming) was done outside with us.
Kinda reasoned why some of us are in band... lol. It was great xd
