Lendelea bowed gracefully before putting away her bow. "Of course lady," She said quickly making her way towards the temple. She wasn't stupid, it would have been foolishness to fight the soldiers off, but still... soldiers always made her feel edgy...

Alicia shook her head. Acolyte Maerye didn't understand-- the guards are ruthless. She'd watched them tear apart the place she lived several years ago. Her mother had gotten them out just in time, but it didn't stop Alicia from seeing them set torches to her home. The soldiers didn't even check to see if anyone was inside... It didn't matter to them that the temple rested on sacred grounds, they will do anything it takes to do what they were ordered to do.
Standing up, she put her apple back in her pack and walked over to the Acolyte. "You come too. The soldiers will be here in a few minutes and you can't just stay! They do whatever they're told," her voice dropped considerably, "no matter what it is." She shook her head, this time to clear it, and grabbed Acolyte Maerye's hand, tugging her toward the temple entrance.

"Alicia, please get inside the temple," Maerye said darkly. "And if you're worried about my safety, Jameson is nearby with a bow and arrow. The guards would drop before they ever got a hand on me." She shrugged Alicia's touch off. "Get back in the temple, miss. This is not your time to show what skills you have."
She paused sighing. "If they will not respect the sanctity of our grounds, do not think that we are unprotected."

"But..." Alicia began, but she could think of no argument. "If you're sure... I'll go. Be careful," she added with a worried half-smile, then ran off, looking over her shoulder. This was a bad idea, as she almost immediately she ran into a tree. She fell to the ground, dazed, but she shook her head and got up to continue on her way into the temple.
She saw Lendelea and Vince in there and walked up to them. "Didn't she say we needed to find the High Priest, or something?"

"Yes..." Lendelea said, hesitant. She wasn't so sure they should leave Maerye behind. She shrugged her shoulders lightly. "I do not know about priests, I suppose that one of you two would?" Lendelea asked finally releasing her hand from the dagger hidden in her belt, she had almost forgotten it was there.

"Sure I do. Mama brings us all here every prayer day because the Third Priest used to be a good friend of hers when she was a girl so he should still be here, but Mama said that he might be transferred to another temple in a different city, though I don't know why, he's always been so nice, not to mention he's a really good Priest and--" Alicia stopped abruptly when she realized she was babbling.
She blinked a few times before taking out an apple and biting into it, calming herself down as she chewed. She swallowed and pointed with her right hand over to the left. As she began walking she said, "This way..."

Vince, upon realizing he still had out his staff, quickly slid it back into the loops on his still-empty pack. "Well, you know the layout of this place better than I do, Alicia. I tend not to get out in public much, can't stand all the pointless talking and large crowds. Kinda uncomfortable." He turned and follow Alicia down the corridor, taking in every detail as he walked in case he ever needed to come back to any spot along the path.
"How far is this place we're going, anyways?"

Striding down the crowded bazaar streets, Narran idly tossed the apple he had just bought about, before taking a hungry bite. Technically he didn't have a reason to be about the bazaar today - in fact, he was supposed to be helping his father in the butcher store now.
Well, it's not like he can't handle it by himself. He reasoned, dodging past a couple of street kids that, more likely than not, had just picked someone's pockets. He chuckled quietly to himself. Business was very good indeed at this hour.
A woman's shrill cry caused Narran to pause and glance behind him. For a moment he couldn't see anything, but the usual solid crush of people. Then a man's annoyed yell echoed the woman, and the crowd suddenly split apart, deserting the street for the safety of the walls and side alleys. A confused Narran blinked, then quickly leapt back to the walls as the source of the disruption marched past.
The city guards were universally despised figures, making life hard for those who lived in the slums, and unpleasant for those who didn't. If Narran didn't know better, he would have sworn that they were picked just for their ability to swat people aside if they got in their way.
The guards passed by without a backwards glance. In the aftermath of their departure, the mutterings and grumblings of the folk they had disturbed were lost on Narran. Shuffling cautiously into the middle of the dusty street, he eyed the backs of the disappearing guards with loathing. The no-good, stuck up, selfish...
With a sudden disregard for his own safety, he straightened up and ran off after the guards, his apple left forgotten in the dirt behind him. He didn't know what he was going to do to them exactly, but he was going to follow those bloody scoundrels until he thought up of something that they wouldn't forget in a hurry...

Lendelea cast her eyes nervously about her. She hated the public. People at her "old" village still haunted her nightmares with their strange ways, and almost sinister actions... almost. Lendelea never stayed long after her mother... was taken to that "other place" to find out were exactly they took her. Somehow, she doubted her mother was alive but that was fine with her! Her mother had had a horribly life at the village, and as a elf, she was happy to know that her mother would be able to find escape in a better place. “It should not be too far, considering,” Lendelea said towards Vince as she continued to follow Alicia who obviously knew where SHE was going.

"Um... Here we are." Alicia had led the small group down a narrow corridor with doors on either side-- all of them unadorned and identical. This one, located at the end of the corridor, was the only one different from the others: it had two small wings carved in the center of the wood and a bronze door handle, instead of copper knobs. "I'll just knock then shall I?"
She rapped on the door once, twice, three times and waited for the door to open. There was an answering "hold on" from inside, then a young man opened the door. He glanced at Vince and his eyes lingered on Lendelea's ears before freezing on Alicia. Then his face split into a wide grin. "Why, if it isn't little Laurie's daughter! I haven't seen you since you were in your thirteenth year."
"Landon!" Alicia gasped as she, too, grinned. "You're high priest now?"
"Yes, now come in, come in! Far be it from me to be a bad host!" And with that, the old friend of Alicia's mother, former Third Priest, ushered them inside.

Bangs covering his soft face as he listened to the men around him speak. His lips curled into a smirk thinking about all that had happened in the past few days. It was thrilling if it wasn't anything, but now it was more anticipation then all the other emotions he could have felt. Slowly Aleric lifted his head and looked around, one man was out of place. 'It had to be one of the members of the group,' Aleric thought looking around, 'A temple... how quaint.' His smirk widened. He moved his fingers to itch around the rope that now bound his hands, really they had under estimated his strength but that would all be shown in due time.

Vince looked at the priest as he walked through the door without moving his eyes, so it appeared he was looking straight ahead. "Old friend of yours Alicia? Well, come on, introduce us." Vince was using his "bored" tone, but a slight smile played across his mouth, making it impossible to read his emotions. He paused and glanced around the room. "Arn't we.... Missing someone? There were four of us last time I checked......."

Alicia looked at Vince. "Oh, um... Maerye is outside still. She insisted that we find the High Priest." She rounded on Landon. "And this guy is Landon, who, by all appearances, is now the High Priest!"

Lendelea swept a graceful bow within a matter of a second before the High Priest. "An honor to meet you," She said instantly relaxed, if the high priest was a friend of Alicia's then that was at least something she didn't have to worry about.
