Swatting Keman's arm in annoyance, Laura continued away from the stables. "I'm no higher ranked than you Keman, just don't toy with me again." After worrying over Leolin all day, the woman could do with a bit of reprieve and a nice long chat with the two lady cooks.
Leolin blinked in surprise at the funny looking thing dangling behind Nyhali. Standing up, the griffin reared to try to tug on it. Wobbly on two legs, he rested a talon on a beam at the entrance to Kedri's stall for stability. It was only when Kedri spoke to him that he left Nyhali alone and went to feed his beloved again with soft coos.

Keman feigned hurt. "I'm only trying to be polite to a lady, Miss Laura!" Still, he strode after her toward the kitchen with a chuckle.
In the kitchen Matti and Marta were bustling around at various tasks, well versed in who was going to do what so that they didn't get in eachothers' way. They were making something a bit smaller than what could properly be called a meal, it being between lunch and dinner time. Little pastries for those so inclined and some meat-and-vegetable rolls for those who wanted something a bit more substancial.
Tika peeked over the edge of loft to look down at the griffons, eyes wide. She was kept from getting too close to the edge by Nyhali's firm grip. Ooh... Kedri was in a nest! "Kedri's gonna have babies?" she asked, peering back over her shoulder at Nyhali.
"Baby or babies. We won't know until she lays the eggs and they hatch."
Tika giggled delightedly and looked back down at the two griffons.
Kedri cheeped her appreciation as Leolin fed her and eventually started to get full. She preened his shoulder affectionately and settled down on the nest, blinking sleepily. Full bellies, comfortable spots, and good company were a relaxing combination.

"Oh, you're not offended." Laura said in responce, scoffing at the man's actions. "Scaring a woman half to death-- you should be ashamed of yourself!"
Heading into the kitchen, Laura smiled warmly when she saw the pair fixing the food. "Hullo Matti, Marta. How're you both doing today?"
Leolin began picking at the boar when Kedri didn't want any more from it. Waiting until Kedri fell asleep before he would move a muscle away from her.
"Good night Kedri." He whispered, getting up and arching his back in a large stretch. With a yawn, the griffin shook his head to try to shake away the drowsiness he had after the large meal. When he looked up at Kedri and Tika, he clicked his beak lightly to see if he could get them down from there. Kedri was sleeping, so they could shoo!

Nyhali grinned and picked Tika up. "I think we've been dismissed, sweets. Let's go play tag in the yard and get all dirty so your mom will have a fit."
"Okay!"
Matti glanced up from finishing the frosting on the pastries to smile at Laura as she wiped her hands on her apron. "We'm good. Right, Marta?" She rolled her eyes when the other woman just grunted and fixedly kept scrubbing the counter she was cleaning. "One track mind on ye, Marta. For shame."
Matti grinned when Keman came in behind Laura. "Ye're here for th' food 'gain, eh Keman?" Her grin just got wider at his innocent expression. "Ye're teachin' lil Tika all sorta bad habits, ye are. Should be more careful, man, yer wife'll turn ye out one o' these days."
Keman looked positively mournful. "I know Matti, I know, but if I deny my very nature I shall no longer be myself and life will not be worth living! Now... did you make the strawberry pasties? I promised Tika she could have some if she finished her chores early, and she shall be most displeased with me if I break my word."
"I made 'em, Keman. And I jus' think ye should know, yer hopeless." Marta flashed a very brief smile at the dark-skinned man. Then she motioned at the large plate on the table with the pastries and rolls stacked on it. "You two can help yourselves."

Taking it upon himself to make sure little Tika didn't bother his sleeping mate, Leolin got up as carefully as he could so as to not disturb her and walked from the stall.
Striding to the ladder, the griffin looked up at the pair curiously. Tika had kept him company while he was injured so surely the little spit-fire would want to play now.
"Perhaps Keman shouldn't have any." Laura said with a cynical smirk. "He did play a nasty prank on me earlier, and he mentioned only wanting one for little Tika." Walking over to the plate, Laura took a pastry and promptly inserted the little tart into her mouth in a very unlady-like fashion.

Neither Keman nor the cooks seemed very bothered by Laura's actions, though Marta frowned briefly before shrugging and returning to her cleaning. Matti just rolled her eyes. "Keman up t'his antics again, eh?" She looked at him speculatively.
"Oh, don't be like that, Matti. Besides, when I left I told Tika and Lady Nyhali I'd be back with snacks[, plural..." He pouted and made a puppy dog look, which was a bit comical, but somehow he pulled it off well.
"That's a'right, Keman. Ye can take 'em some snacks. I'll just hafta make sure ye stay a bit hungry for a day'r two after." She winked at Laura as Keman feigned horror at his sentencing.
Nyhali made sure Tika got down the steps safely and turned her loose after reaching the ground, smiling as the child made a squeel of delight and did her best to hug Leolin around the neck with her small arms.
"Leelin! You're gonna be a daddy!" She was exstatic that her two "griffriends" were mates and were going to be parents, and began petting Leolin's lower shoulder with gleeful affection.

"I can take the snacks to them, Matti?" Laura suggested, seeing the silliness from earlier hadn't the desired effect. Instead of embaressing herself more, she hoped to bring Tika the promised pastries and not let Keman get his hands on them.
The griffin thrummed quietly deep in his throat peacabley at first. Everything seemed completely innocent, until the griffin gripped the little girl's shirt in his beak and dropped her neatly between his wings.
The griffin started to walk a few paces, adjusting the little girl's positon with his wings. This was a little different. Tika wasn't anywhere near the same as Laura on her back, and much lighter than Nyhali as well. Ahh well, all the easier to prance about with the six year old on his back. The griffin wasn't planning on taking to the sky, but did start to head off towards the courtyard to have a bit of fun with the child.

Nyhali was startled by Leolin's sudden action, but she knew he wouldn't harm Tika; she'd been around him quite a bit by now. She decided to stand back and watch the fun. She could always wake Kedri up if anything happened so Leolin would return before something could happen, but she didn't think Leolin would do anything that would hurt Tika. It would go completely against what she knew of him if he did.
Matti promptly handed Laura the pastries and a few meat rolls. "I'm thinkin' ye should. Keman could do with losin' a few pounds and learnin' some manners at the same time, aye?" She winked, and this time even Marta chuckled along.
Keman gave a dramatic sigh. "I suppose I'd ought to be getting back to my work if you've all turned against me for the day..." He smiled ruefully and shook his head before exiting to go check on Tika one more time before he went back to his aforementioned work.
Tika gave a startled squeek when she was picked up, but she caught on quickly and did her best to move as asked when Leolin tried to shift her with his wings. Once he seemed satisfied and started moving she gripped at his neck ruff. Not that she didn't trust Leolin, but she'd rarely even been on a pony before, and never on her own, and he was somewhat taller than your average pony. All the same she couldn't help a few gleeful giggles and some excited squirming.

Trilling quietly at Tika on his back, the griffin trotted around the courtyard. Slow enough the child wouldn't fall off, but that brought about it's own problems. Bouncing up and down on the seat of feathers ment a soft enough ride but plenty entertainment for the young girl.
After a few minutes of this, Leolin felt that Tika had adjusted well enough to stretch his wings a bit. Holding the child snug between them left his appendages cramped. Flapping briskly lifted the pair a foot off the grounds before Leolin promptly folded them once again.
"Thank you two." Laura said politely as she took the trays. "They all look delicious." Departing with a smile on her face, Laura made her way carefully towards the stables while she balanced the pastry tray and the meat roll tray in both hands.
