I'm EST, though I don't htink it should matter. If you run the Bible study like a bulletin board rather than in real time, we can log in and post whenever we get on. We can make more than one group, where one group each member only posts once a week and the other group each member posts every day. That way everyone could put in the time they have without being left behind in the study and folks with more time to put in can move faster through the study (with everyone posting every day, a new section could be added every two-three days).

grr, this bothers me. (at least he tried to be polite about it.) in regard to the reading plan i'm doing, i asked if they could add the Apocrypha... the email I got back: Re: Back to the Bible reply Dear Daniel: Thank you for your e-mail. I don't mean any offense by this, Daniel, but, as a Protestant ministry, we don't accept the Apocrypha as being on the same level as the Bible. I tried to find a Catholic version of a Bible reading schedule on the Internet for you but didn't have any success. Traditionally the Catholic Church has not encouraged the laity to read the Bible, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I'd encourage you to keep reading the Bible whether it includes the Apocrypha or not. At least the part you do read we can agree is inspired. God bless. In Him Allen Bean Biblical Correspondent allenb@backtothebible.org is his email address. couldn't hyperlink it for some reason.

Aww sad **huggles teh NAL** Perhaps then we do need more than one group. I like Faith Fairy's idea- one group moves faster than the other, that way no one feels left out. Perhaps we could have another group entirely that does cover the Apocrypha as, well so that us Catholics also won't feel left out.
BTW, I'm EST as well.

This whole thing sounds intriguing. It would be interesting to hear other people's viewpoints, as well! Is it too late for me to jump in, too?

The thought occurred to me on the way home that we should have a thread to post what we've read each day... (for those that into it.)

You mean after we establish a reading plan, or just in general?

Possibly both, but I meant specifically after we establish a reading plan. I'm still trying to find one for Catholics... currently investigating lifeteen.com

again, for those STILL thinking it a good idea to read the Bible cover to cover: http://www.lifeteen.com/default.aspx?PageID=BGQADETAIL&__DocumentId=414 ... the word Bible comes from a Greek word, biblia, which literally means "collection of writings". ... The Bible is not put together like a novel, and, thus, not intended to be read "cover to cover". Since it is a collection, it is meant to be read in different ways, through different patterns. ... that site (and that webpage) has links to other good articles about the Bible. worth checking out. like http://www.lifeteen.com/default.aspx?PageID=APARTICLE&__DocumentId=774 (difference between Catholic and Protestant Bibles and why) ...

I think if we could start a new sticky on this topic, we could make the first post a list of all the Bible study threads we start. That way the thread could be updated so members could easily find the thread they are studying, and new members could browse through them and join the one (or however many they liked) Bible study group(s) they wanted. Ideally, either the person who started that thread would be someone who would be willing to check it nearly every day to update as needed, or a common mule for a group of Bible Study leaders, who would then be given access to the mule to be able to update their information as needed.
The first post list might look something like this: [ linked title of Bible Study thread ] led by Xxxxxx is currently studying Ruth 1-3
etc.
and each Title would include how often the reading advances. ("One Chapter of Genesis Daily", or "Two Readings per Week", or "Reading The Whole Bible in Order, Daily" or "Discussion about Revelations and the End Times"). Well, you get the idea. And other threads could be added or completed ones deleted at the leaders' request.
