*Aids Xemeca in Engineering diagnostics* I gather that we'll be working on the engine within a few days ma'am, any truth to this rumor?

Yep. We'll be getting core material which will have to be meticulously aligned for optimal function. Otherwise, we get an explosion...not a big one, but enough to keep us from achieving our launch date.

*She hopped back on the lift and headed up towards the bridge. She went over to the panel located behind the helm station, keying in a code, the panel sliding open. There, a small handle on a hinge could be seen laying in there, the hinche connected to what appeared to be a circular lock. She lifted the handle out, and prepared to turn it* All right, going to check if the computer core ejection system works. All clear, eject. *she said, turning the handle 90 degrees and pulling outward. Suddenly, all computer systems on the ship went dead, including that of all stations on the bridge. Outside some of the windows, a computer core could be seen floating through space, a detonator soon blowing it up, but the explosion was small, and minimal. Just enough to destroy the core. She then pushed the handle back in, turned it back 180 degrees, and pushed it inward even further, this telling the manual systems to insert a new, untainted computer core. Then all the systems functions were restored, where she proceeded to reset the handle* I'm glad that works.

Storing perfectly functional, unused cores on the ship? I can see the advantages of being able to replace them quickly, but what happens when the computer is so messed up that the keypad for the panel access doesn't work? And what happens if a computer malfunction causes a core to eject by it's own and we're unable to install a replacement?

Smithwillsuffice... Storing perfectly functional, unused cores on the ship? And what happens if a computer malfunction causes a core to eject by it's own and we're unable to install a replacement? That's easy private. The core ejection is manual only, and there is a pad located on both decks on both ends of the ship with the exception of the bridge section. The system used to control access to the panels is self sustained system, totally seperate from the ships systems and has only one input point, the key panel. The computer system has no control over core ejection or the access points that allow it. There are two parts of the ship...the computer and manual, which are totally seperate of each other. However, manual can override the computer in certain situations, of course manual being operated by the crew. I said I don't want another Reginald, and I meant it.

*Looks at the major as he walked away, then to the flickering lights* Those shouldn't be doing that *she said as she approached them and worked on the inner curcuitry that made up the lights, trying to get them coherently working.

"Total core ejection... That is real nice... Hope we got hard drive restore..." Chuckles and cracks fingers before starting to go over various systems with the communications array.

"Hmm.. Test... Lets see...." Activates a sequence at console to turn on small lights throughout the ship to test the intercom system. The Corpral gets up and starts making rounds through the first deck, hitting the "Intercom" button at each area to verify that section is functioning.
